Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Drove down to Dauphin Island today with my girlfriend to enjoy a day of fun since we were both off and got a couple photos of my truck before we left. I actually got stuck in the f'n sand and a guy driving by in a jeep wrangler offered to pull me out but neither of us had straps so him and another guy pushed while i reversed out. It was a pain in the ass but the pics were worth it all

And my rear tire after getting back from the island. It looks like i had a white wall thanks to all the sand (Yea,i buried it pretty deep)

And a random photo while driving along the Dauphin Island bridge (Famous for not so good things but still...)

I'm waiting on my paycheck Thursday and some time off from work so i can drive out to the junkyard and i plan to finally get my passenger door. I need a center cap for my left, front wheel too because mine fell off or something because it's not there anymore. Mirrors would be nice too but only if i have enough $ this week after the door and center cap.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I thought about the original two-tone but i want to do something else. I'm having a hard time deciding though. I would love flat black but at the same time i wouldn't. I will decide the color when i get to that part. I still have body work to do then suspension work before it's painted.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Got my new door. It came off the same truck as the bed so it was mint except it didn't have interior, mirror,or outside handle. I've got all that on my old door though and i'm swapping those parts onto the new door. I've got it outside on sawhorses right now and my friend and i are getting the glue off from the trim then sanding down the paint on it so we can tape and primer and if we're lucky get it on for work tommorow. I'll take pics soon.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

The stripper disk thing we used with my drill to rough it up for primer. Sure beats hand sanding.

My friend Jessie helping sand

It's a bitch to sand and it's going to be a bitch to prime and put together but it will be worth it. The glass is a little darker but i can fix that later. We stopped because the drill batteries both died and we ran out. Also it's pretty late and we were both tired. We will be sanding the rest tommorow when both batteries are charged fully and hopefully have the door on by Sunday. I forgot to buy the door pins but i will pick some up tommorow or Saturday.

Thanks

I almost replaced it with another one the other day but i can't part with this one. It came on the truck and i loved it so i kept it on. Even when it's bagged and all i'll still probably leave it on.

We weren't having problems with it clogging. It sands good it's just the drill batteries die out fast and we have to constantly change them out. They'll be both fully charged for tommorow so we won't have that problem.

Picked up door pins and bushings after work today and got a new power steering cap since the old one looked like crap. When i changed it i checked the fluid and i need to add a little but i'll do that tommorow or Sunday. The door should be primed and hopefully sanded smooth by tonight.

Yeah,i know. It doesn't look great but it's "cheap" primer until i get it re-done and painted. I had to drill 3 holes in the door to mount a little trim strip inside but other than that it went together easy. I left the mirror on my other door because i didn't swap doors yet because it's too late and if we run into problems then i won't be able to drive to work tommorow y'know?

But it will be on by this weekend or sooner. And i so did most of the work. I just happened to be the only one taking the photos so i'm not in any

We finally got the old door off but i didn't have a chance to put the new one on yet. It's under my carport for now with some beach towels covering the opening. I'm planning to put the door on tommorow after work.

I still have to put the door handle on and replace the door locks but here it is. It's not the best primer job but it looks decent in person and it get's the job done until i have it painted soon (Few more body parts to get)

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Soon man....soon. I have a date scheduled with the windshield shop on June 10 and i'm paying $210 to have a whole new 1 piece rear window installed with new trim and everything. After that i should have the money for those 2" spindles you showed me and i can buy the 3" blocks. Also around that time Scrapin the coast will be coming soon and i should have my income tax by then so i'll be buying my bumper, rollpan, and cowl hood also.

I wanted to bag the front but i'll settle for 2" spindles and 3" blocks for now. I'll bag the front though shortly after scrapin the coast then bag the rear later. It's coming together piece by piece though.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Thanks for all the + comments. It's starting to look a lot better but sadly mechanical stuff keeps pissing me off lately. the day after putting the new door on i was driving and next thing i know the truck starts sputtering like it's running out of gas even though i had a full tank and sea-foam plus i've replaced the fuel pump already. It idles fine and drive fine at 40mph but accelerating it wants to be a bitch and vibrate the whole rear of the truck and sputter so i'm replacing the fuel filter in a few minutes and give that a try. Thanks to this i may not have my new back windshield next week afterall

Once it's running though i'm considering bagging the front for now. I've just got to figure out what setup i want as far as compressor and tank..

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

if you bag the back youll want the rear to be as low static as you can get it or it may look wierd.

I have your exact rims on my dime. I was going to get new ones, but I think I'll just paint them black. They are outlined in black with the inside being silver.

Really? Because i don't care. It's something i did temporary until i have it painted. I do NOT do sanding and i DON'T paint. I know that and i admit that i don't do either. I don't claim it to be a nice job and i have plainly stated that in a couple of my replies. Once i get a few remaining body parts it will all be sanded back down and painted by a professional paint guy so it didn't really matter to me how i did it now because that's not how it's going to look.

If you don't like how i do things and can only talk shit then don't bother replying to any threads i make because you're only wasting people's time by making them read your posts.

I thought about that but as long as the front will go back to stock when aired up then it won't be a problem. I was going to lower the rear with 3" blocks though if i bagged the front. That way i could air out the front a little and basically ride 2/3 or so but with the exception of actually being able to raise the front back up if needed.

Hopefully that made sense?

Btw....this is the shit that came out of my old fuel filter. Only difference is that it looked more disgusting in person. I filtered it through a rag and the rag looked as if it had mud caked on it......

Truck still sputters some though but it doesn't seem as bad as before. I'm going to try sme other things tommorow or whenever and see if i can't solve this damn problem..

Truck seems to run ok now. I cleaned the egr valve and the intake manifold where the valve bolted to. It can run better but it's good for now i think.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Truck started running fine then decided to still clean the egr and it started sputtering a little after but it's all good now. Here's some minor updates. Still waiting on my slow ass income tax refund...

Flat blacked the air cleaner until i get a new one

Instead of replacing the upper control arm bushings i'm just going to get a somewhat low mileage control arm at the junkyard and swap arms. Then i can replace the old brake rotor with my new one and i should have all my knocking and shaking up front fixed and it'll be safe to bag the front.

Been working a little on the blazer but not much. Got the coil springs removed and basically laid out the front without the bags except the stock control arms keep it off the ground. If i had a grinder still i'd grind down the lower arms to make it lay. I've still got to get someone to weld in my notch on it so i can paint the frame already and put some bags on it.

But enough about the blazer,i'll put some photos on it's thread. Back to my truck... I had to re-schedule my rear window appointment until the 17'th of this month but i'm still getting it done in time for scrapin the coast. Hopefully that won't be the only thing done by then

Edit: Ignore the zip ties holding my battery. The ghetto battery tray the previous owner put in broke and i didn't have time to fix my battery tray until last night so i zip tied it until then. It's got a new battery tray in it from my blazer so the zip ties in that photo are gone.
