Good work, tailgate should look good when finished.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Can't look any worse than it does
Thanks. girlfriend met me for lunch today so i didn't do any sanding on it during my lunch break. Planning to do a little tonight when i go to the house. Making some trailer ball mounts for the rear of the frame too. Got the idea from "Project: built 2 envy". Not doing it exactly like his but similar. Just have to cut the metal and drill the holes and paint them. I'll post some pics later tonight.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Have to drill two holes so they can bolt to the side of the frame and paint them still but otherwise good to go.

Was going to sand the tailgate but the sander is WAY too loud to be using at midnight. I'll wait until lunch tommorow at work.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Sanded about 20 minutes on the tailgate and it's almost done but i have to get in the tight spots to sand.

A belt sander & 80 grit paper will take care of bad rust in seconds
Probably not the best thing to use but it did the job quick. I've got some dents that need body filler that i just noticed and a couple high spots that need to be knocked down. Should be in paint soon.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I'm bored so....

Another shot of the tailgate. I sprayed it flat black today so it wouldn't rust. It still needs sanding at the bottom but it looks a lot better right now.

Trailer ball mounts done except for paint

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Messed with it a little this evening...

Led in the back of my gauge so i can atleast kinda see my pressure at night

Painted

I just need to drill two 1/2" holes on each side of the frame and buy 4 bolts, lock washers, and nuts then i can bolt them on.

I'll upload a pic of it with paint when i get home. We're about to leave work cause of the tropical storm. It looks way better with paint on it.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Not last night

Did a little maintenance earlier since i don't have the money for the alternator upgrade until monday/tuesday. Replaced my + battery cable and cleaned the contacts. Was going to upgrade the alternator wire but need a couple washers. Next thursday i'll be ordering the bag mount for the tilt bed finally so i can get it functioning on it's own power. I'll have to run some manual valves on the frame for a few weeks until i get $$ for a couple smc valves and another switch. Going to try and get a swaybar from the junkyard and buy all new bushings. Also going to try and save up the $$ for the bolt on shock mounts from suicide doors and put shocks on the front. I'm tired of my truck leaning on uneven roads and bouncing on lumpy roads. Side to side isn't that important.....

It's hard to define driving height. I either ride lifted stock, cali,or almost dragging. I'll try to remember to get a pic though.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

They are beefy. they are 70 or 75 series. No sense in buying low profile when i'm planning to use part of my income tax this year and get 20's or 22's.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I don't know how far north you live but down here it's fine. i drive mine every single day regardless of weather. Up north i heard you need to put air-brake antifreeze in your tank to keep your valves from sticking in the cold. And you definately need a water trap. I don't have one but that's only temporary.

Loving this build, I think its my new favorite.

Just finished. I love the progress you've made, I expected it to be over after the wreck but you've come a long way.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Thanks. Putting the transmission back in tonight or trying to. I don't get off work until dark so that should be fun trying to see under it. Hope to get some more work done soon.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Just updating a little... transmission is almost in. It should be in tonight. If not my friend Jessie is staying over tomorrow night and we'll pull an all nighter on the truck in order to get it ready for the show Saturday morning. I'll post some pics from the show. Hoping it turns out good. Forecast shows 70% rain but that could change knowing our weather.
