Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

yeah check your leader hose for sure. mine was doing the same thing over night it was the check valves in them sticking open and leaking back thru the comps. i had to pull the filters of and put my finger over the intake hole to figure out thats were i twas coming from. i even bought new hoses and one did the same thing and it was brand new.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I thought the check valve would fix that? I have a rigged up line for my 380 (3/8 Airline) and it blew off the barb fitting because i didn't have hose clamps on it yet and the check valve it had on the tank kept my tank from going down. I figured the check valve on the leader hose for the 400 would do the same incase the hose messed up.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

those check valves are doo doo. My 450 lives inside my blazer and im on my second hose. My tank kept leaking and i couldnt find out where, finally replaced the leader hose and it works fine

If you already have a known good check valve put it b/t the viar hose/check valve and the tank, and see if the leak goes away.

Put my finger over the hole and when i let off you could hear air so i plugged it and pulled the fuse so the comp won't come on for now.

Still leaks a little but not as bad. Gotta check a few mor ethings later.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Swapped the check valve off my 380 so i'm back to just my 400 and fixed a leak on the gauge line. Last night i only like about 5psi so that's acceptable. Now i just need another leader hose for the 380.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

They are $12.99 plus shipping on suicide doors. I may be able to order one this week. Just depends. I put off a lot of my bills the week of scrapin so i'm having to pay them this week instead. I'd like to order some bag plates to finish my tilt bed finally. It's been forever since i first did it.

Nah wasn't me. I left my titanium at home. I didn't drag any on the way there or home. I wanted to but couldn't figure a way to mount the titanium and i didn't feel like staying until dark anyway.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Got rid of the blower box since i don't have a/c

That's about all i did. I was bored and didn't have any parts so i just remved stuff i didn't need. I went out dragging earlier and the drag material flew off and hit the bottom of the transmission where the drain plug is and busted it so it ran out. I towed it home and i've got to fix that tommorow after work....yay

One more reason to have whatever you're dragging in the rear and not the front.

Sucks it busted the trans case. What time does the show start at MGM friday?

I may be going. She is at least talking to me some so i'm in a way better mood. If i go my truck will be trailered to the show. I'm gonig to finish trimming my neighbors yard and try to get a transmission from the junkyard so i can be ready to start putting it in this weekend. If i can get my hands on some smaller diameter tubing i will cut off my upper bag mounts and raise them so the rear will lay out. If i do that then sometime later this week i will pull out the bench seat and pull the carpet back so i can cut my floor and weld in the driveshaft tunnel i have sitting in my room so i can lay it out without the driveshaft rubbing. After that it's off to drag the leaf spring hangers

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

$500 for a transmission. If it was automatic i would be in luck but thanks to it being 5 speed i can't find one so i will be looking at a high price. I almost have mine off just can't get to some bolts. This is stating to piss me off. I've been to two junkyard in 100 degree weather trying to find one with no luck. I found a guy who has three but he's the one wanting $500 plus my busted one. Sucks but looks like that's what i will have to do.

500 dollars for a used trans is the most rediculous thing ive ever heard. My brand new th350 was only 600. Swap to an auto if you can find one cheaper b/c that much for a manual gear box is unbelievable

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Couldn't find manual 4.3 transmissions. Only auto. I bought my truck partially because of the manual transmission so i don't want to swap to auto. I'm going to try picking up a shopper and see if they have any for sale. I'm getting pissed not having a way to go places when i feel like it. What's wrong with my red bowtie?

Do you still have your old auto trans for the blazer? I'm thinking of swapping out my th350 for a 700r4. Its probably been sitting in the rain though?

I just can't catch a break...

Did this on purpose. Didn't hurt anything but it helped my get a little lower... :P

What i did do that hurt...

How my poor truck sits.... I wanna drive it so bad :'(

I might take my $500 i would spend on the transmission and buy a gmc jimmy that runs. Then i can save up for the transmission while driving the jimmy. Plus i really want a suv to drive..

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Found a transmission for $300. It's getting pulled by someone else and i just have to pick it up and put it in. Hope to have it back on the road no later than monday morning. After that i'm re-doing my upper bag mounts and bridge bar/s to make the back lay out (Upper mounts too low) and if i can, order the bag plate for my tilt bed.

I've been looking at weld-on hood cowls/scoops because they're a lot cheaper than buying a new hood. I can't decide which i like better though. opinions?

I get that but i didn't the first time. If i have to i'll look for one on e-bay. I was mainly getting an idea on price and what was available. I'm trying to make my stock hood look like a stock cowl hood but without forking over $400+ Not sure how well it will work but it's worth a shot.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Yeah it sucks. I'm fixing to go up to the shop and pick it up. I found one for $240 and i paid (Or owe) $60 for the guy pulling it out of the other truck. Once i get this done i have a ton of stuff planned to do. It's all built up because i haven't been able to do anything for trying to find a transmission. I'm going to try and start putting it in later tonight and work on it after work until it's done. Before the weekend i hope...

I used a grinder for now. I've looked it up and a sander with 180 grit is the best way. Just didn't have a high rpm sander to use. But i know now it works. Just need to buy the tool. I wondered why you never replied to my text. My # is 214-2026

Rattle can flat black. It works for now just so i can drive around with a truck that's one color. It's going to be a bitch when it comes time to paint because i have to sand it all back off before i can paint it.

Seems like I wasn't the only one to sit and read through from the beginning! I started reading it and skipped to close to the end and was confused when a different truck was being talked about so I went back and read it ALL to find out about what happened. I've been watching it now since you first got the current truck going and was only front bagged. It has DEFINITELY came a long way and keeps looking better every time you do something to it. Can't wait to see it painted!

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I'm still working on it. I have been really busy. I'm going to get my $$ from the other guy and i'm going this week to pull a transmission somewhere else. I heard they have one in now at the u-pull it and i'm going to check. I'm tired of riding my road bike 4.5 miles to work every morning.

I miss driving my truck

One update i kinda fixed my leak on my guage line. It's still leaking some but i can fix that. I need to replace the line anyways. I also got metal to rebuild my upper moutn setup. I'm using the upper plates but making new bridge bars and raising the mounts since they were welded to low and it sits just a little off the ground. I also have my driveshaft tunnel already just waiting on putting it in. Only things on my mind are the air leak and the transmission. Once those are done i'm going to just drive it. I'm not taking it down for a while. I'll do little things that won't stop me from driving it since i have been without it for a while now.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

thats a sick find...i might be the only person out there thinking this but i like the 1st gen. front ends better than the 2nd gen. they sit a little higher and I think they look more like a truck. only personal opinion though.
