MAN, some people are hard to please when it isn't even THEIR truck! I think he's doing a good job, especially because it's being done in his front yard and not in some "fancy" shop some where. He "could" have had every part made by somebody else and installed by somebody else and even the whole project built by some body else but he didn't, why?..... Because it's HIS truck, HIS ideas, HIS work.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Thanks. I think i'm going to cut the welds and remove the supports from the inside of the bed and flip it and brace it from the underside with some 2x2 instead. I was thinking about it yesterday just didn't have any 2x2 leftover. Buying air for my tilt bed OR my new windshield this week if everything goes right. I found a guy down the street who has one of those "helper bag" setups that he took off his truck and the bags look like regular bags just a tad smaller. He's got mounts i could modify and everything. I don't know if he has any valves but if not then i would just need valves and some line then my tilt bed would be fully functional. I'm getting tired of lifting it everytime i put gas in...

Krusher, you going to Biloxi for the show?

I'll try to get pics today. I'm doing some small stuff to it after work. Nothing major.

Oh i plan to. I need to borrow another camera. My flash decided it was going to break not too long ago and i haven't gotten around to fixing it yet. Daytime pics are good but if it's even a little dark it won't take. Sucks...

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Thanks. I had a guy at the gas station offer to sell me a black extended cab square body with a 4.3 and 5 speed but it needs a slave cylinder which is only $60 and takes maybe 10 minutes to fix. If i can come up with the $500 in time i'm going to pick it up. It's literally right across the road from me.

I figured out a way to drag the back even though it won't quite lay yet (26" overall tire size) I'll try to get a video later. I didn't do anything to it yesterday except wash it and do an alignment. I've got to start saving for Biloxi so i might not get much else done to it until after the show (Except for the couple things left to do before the show)

I was thinking about leaving Friday night and staying that night and going to the show Saturday morning and leaving after the show was over that day. I'm considering staying home Friday and just drive over Saturday morning that way i can save some $$ by not having to stay in a hotel. ..Why?

If only it would lay out that whole bracket would be gone by now..

I have to drag sideways to get it to drag so it doesn't really drag well. ...

The bag brackets are low and the bags bottom out before it lays. I have 20's condering my tire size. With 18's and 40 series tires (Trying to find some) it will easily lay

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Once again after a bad rain it's ****ing up. I'm going to see what's wrong and if i can fix it i will. I'm still thinking about swapping in a 350 later though just for another mod. I actually put a system in it tonight even though i always said i would NEVER do one. It's pretty sweet. Making stuff fit a regular cab and running wires sucks though. I have to extend some wires so i can tuck them under the carpet and i have to mount my amp. It's sitting behind the seat right now.

The system for now:

Sony xplode stereo 42 watt
Pioneer 700+ watt amp (I think it's like 760)
Sony xplode 10" and a old busted up 10" pioneer (I had the pioneer just sitting around)

It hits pretty good for what i have. I want another 10" sony later but for now my setup works for me. I just wanted something to have a little fun with and enjoy. I also put on my new driver door so the only part of my truck NOT flat black is the cab itself which will hopefully be done Sunday. I also broke one of my door handles so i went ahead and put on my stock chrome handles off the old parts truck. I will have to get pics when it's daylight but i'll try to post some on my lunch break tommorow.

Cab isn't done. I have everything else done. Just got to finish up some other stuff.

My system is nothing special. Far from it really. But it's fun. My friend gave me the amp which was cool. I was going with a 600 but right before i was about to leave he came over and told me he had a 700 something that i could have. I have a lot of work ahead of me today..

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

It was. I didnt have another box. The sub is out now. It was already busted but it worked. Now i just have the new 10" sony. We got the box pre-made and had to actually mark it and use the cordless mini circular saw last night and cut it down to fit my cab then put the front back on. It works though and for one 10" it hits pretty good. I did something with my seat as far as covering but it will have to be tomorrow before i can get te picture. And if none of this makes sense i'm buzzed so it's ok

$6.99 Mexican blanket made into a seat cover.

FREE,FREE,FREE
It's a old dual port bag for my tilt bed, viair 380 that needs a filter & leader hose but works besides some road rash, and a chunk of titanium for dragging at scrapin the coast.

Welds are getting better

Friend bridged my system for me and it hits a lot harder now. We took the other busted 10 out and it's just the one new 10 with the 760 watt amp pushing it.

That titanium will make some nice white sparks too (you goint to get some videos of that aren't you)! now you won't have to manually tilt your bed. Like the blanket, adds a little something to the truck. Oh and your welds ARE looking good, practice makes perfect! Position, condition of metal and welder adjustments will just take you a little tinkering with till you get it where you can weld.

you should find a shop to cut that Ti in half, and put a piece on each side.

I could cut it myself....i think. Unless it takes special stuff. I have a reciprocating saw i could use just clamp the ti in a vice. i was thinking about welding it under the front.

Moved the compressor. I need a leader hose and some more electrical wire and i'll hook up the second compressor. I've got some 4 gauge wire i'm running but i don't have enough to run from the front to the compressors yet. My 80-145 refill time will be cut by 1 minute,11 seconds. Not too shabby

I was thinking the same thing when i was bolting it on. Soon as i can get more metal i will add another bar to bolt the other side to. It won't be like that for long. Once i get back from Biloxi i will be doing more stuff. Have to save my money right now for Gas and everything. I still have to buy a new clutch master cylinder after work. Mine is leaking and i'm not driving all the way to Biloxi like that.

Great read. Just went from page 1-28 and loved it. I was almost heart broken when I saw what happened to your truck around page 13 or 14. I almost have nightmares about something like that and too see it and read about it just makes it all that more real...

It looks really great man. I look forward to reading more in the future.

Thanks. Hoping to get the tilt bed done after Biloxi. I need some more steel to make brackets/box the frame. Should at least have the other compressor on in time. Just fixing mechanical stuff right now before the show. So far i finished the clutch master cylinder replacement, new hose for the reservoir, and i'm bleeding it now. I've got to adjust my lower link bar too. I'm having way too much fun

Son of a bitch....

No more leaking clutch...

I need small line for the gauge and some fittings for the gauge but this will replace the one on the seat. I'm going to drill some tiny holes in the back and mount lights that are wired to the dash lights so the gauge lights up with the stock gauges.

Trying to wire up my second compressor but i just need a filter and leader hose. I'm doing the brake line and the compressor wiring and stuff tommorow.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Wired the second compressor but it's not hooked to the tank yet...... Still no hose for it. But it at least works and all i have to do is hook it to the tank. I found out that i can't run the comps, headlights,AND system. The voltage drops a good bit on deep bass. I need to get a higher alternator later.

It's rough but one color for now. I hope to sand it all back down and primer/paint it in a few months. I'm deciding on color and once i get a compressor and gun i'll start working on it. I just wanted it one color for now.

I'll get pics when it's daylight. It's too dark to take them with a broken flash.

Leaks but works. Needs fittings still.

I boxed the frame also for the tilt bed bag bracket but it wasn't wanting to arc well so it looks bad otherwise i'd show it. I'll post pics next time i can work on it...

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Way too hot down here...

No leaks on the gauge, line,or fittings that i can find. But yet i lose 10psi after a minute. What the ****?

Probably have to move it down a little. The top post battery won't clear the bed floor and the sidepost barely clears. And yes it's missing one bolt. I've got to drill one more hole. The battery isn't on it anyway so it doesn't matter right now.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Well....... i can't find the leak but i lose 140psi over night so the only thing i can think of is my tank is cracked. Thanks to that it will be down for a week because i have to wait on a new tank to arrive. I can manage to drive for now but it pisses me off having to turn on the compressors to keep the pressure up....

did you spray the tank to see if its leaking, or just assuming it is. If a weld is leaking you should be able to spot it easily if its loosing that much pressure.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I put soapy water on it but i couldn't see anything. i felt around on the tank where it was welded and i didn't feel anything coming out. I was driving home and forgot to flip the compressors off and the tank went over and i heard a pop and turned it off. I replaced my gauge line because i was hooking up the one in the dash but the gauge i used doesn't leak and i can't find a leak on any of the fittings. The only other place i was told it could be is the tank itself.

I'm going to work on it for an hour after work and see what i can find..
