^^ Gee....i wonder what that could be

I'm ordering my 8 port 5 gallon tank tommorow when i load the money on my debit card: http://www.fbirides.com/product.asp?idno=256887

I'm also looking at finding a used viair compressor to add to my setup for now until i get the money for a second 400. I don't really care what compressor it is as long as it's rated 150psi. If i spend $100 every week i should have all the parts in 5 weeks. I need to get the small amount of welding done then the rest is bolting stuff on and wiring up things. I hope to be able to cruise out to spring fling this year and get to scrapin the coast again...

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Yea it's four 3/8" smc valves. I will have each wheel wired to it's own up/down switch just like the front. But i will also be able to control the whole truck using another switch. I hope to wire it eventually to where i can hit sides with only 2 switches. But for now i'm just wiring the back like the front.

And yea that's a show advertisement actually. I forget what show but i won't be going. Too far away.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

If the grinding stops once i bag it and fix the pinion then i will be there. I'm only driving it though if i am completely confident that it won't break down that far from home. If i don't drive it there i might try to find someone going that will trailer it there and just drive it around town. That way if it breaks i'm not stranded away from home.

Headed out on lunch now to load my debit card and order the tank.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Just ordered the tank. I was told it may be out today and it will take maybe 6 days to get here.

I'm gonna use the few bucks left on my debit card to buy some wire or something small that i need. The rest of my cash i'm saving for gas.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Might order my axle brackets too. I don't know yet. I have to figure out what all i have to pay for this week before i go spending more and throw myself short on gas $$ until payday. Also i have no clue what diameter axle i have. I have to measure that when i get home.

*****BOUGHT*****
4 Link
Valves
Upper bag mounts
Driveshaft tunnel
5 Gallon eight port tank

*****NEED STILL*****
Bags (And bolts to bolt on bags)
Frame notches
Steel to brace notches
Lower bag mounts
Airline
Misc fittings
Electrical wire and wire ends
Viair 400 compressor (Not a have to but it would be nicer after lifting the whole truck to re-fill to 150psi in a reasonable time limit)

I think that's about all the stuff i needed. I may have forgotten a couple small things.

It's a 4 link,it's bolt on,it's reasonably price, and i read good things about it. I know it's not the best but it was a good deal for the $$ it cost. Plus i have their drop spindles and i'm satisfied with them.

My Yolk or w/e is bigger than other first gens. I was told it was a second gen rear end? I know it's different than the other driveshaft i have out of the '89 regular cab.

all s10 axles are 2.75 *if thats what you were refering too with the not first gen rear end* and yea your rear end has that weird little donut thing on it, its a second gen rear to my knowledge. Either way they are all the same size axle tubes

That clears things up then. I didn't know i had to know that part until i looked at suicide doors and it started throwing different sizes at me and i had no clue what it was.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

4 link was supposed to come in yesterday but it was delayed (Yeah, wtf?) so it is arriving today. The tank will be here Monday. I went ahead and ordered the axle brackets for the bags. Next week i'll try and get the notch. There's also a local place where i'm going to try and get the steel to go between the notches for the upper bag mounts from.

Not much new. Just trying to pay for shit and still order my parts quickly as possible

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Thanks a lot. It makes my day to come on and read positive comments. It really helps keep me motivated to know that people watch the thread too. Unfortunately i'm stuck at work today so i have no idea if my 4 link has made it to my house yet. It should definately be there when i get home this evening though.

I was going over my list of parts yesterday and i realized i don't have much left to get. The next big step is trying to get it all welded. I'm planning to drive it out to theodore or where ever my friend's welder friend lives and get the notches, mounts, and stuff welded. Then i can go home and bedline the notches and start bolting up the 4 link and everything else.

I am actually considering dropping a v8 in it later. I don't want a 350 though because everyone and their brother has a 350 s10. I would like to go with a 383 if i can find one. I think i'll wait until my 4.3 is at least 250,000 miles though. It's really close to 200,000 right now and i hate to take it out so soon. I figure 250,000-300,000 miles i'll pull it out and put in a 383 and a new manual transmission.

I really need to stop slacking and get my new tailgate bondo'd and sprayed so i can bolt it on...

Updated list

*****BOUGHT*****
4 Link
Valves
Upper bag mounts
Driveshaft tunnel
5 Gallon eight port tank
Lower bag mounts

*****NEED STILL*****
Bags (And bolts to bolt on bags)
Frame notches
Steel to brace notches
Airline
Misc fittings (Last item to buy)
Electrical wire and wire ends (Already bought a roll to extended the switchbox wires to the valves. Only need compressor wire and misc. ends)
Viair 400 compressor (Don't have to buy at first but it would suck to lift the whole truck on one 400)

If everything goes like i hope then Thursday i will order the 8" step notch from suicide doors. I'm going with dominator 2600 bags for the back. I already run dominator 2500 bags in the front.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Rest of the goodies (Bought a while back before it got totaled)

It was a bitch to get the snap rings in. I never messed with them nor used snap ring pliers and it seriously took me 2-3 hours to get them in all 4 link bars and get the bushings in and everything on...

I think the top bars are on right but i'm not sure. They definately need adjusting though. The differential bracket sits crooked right now. I'm just trying to get everything as close to ready as i can though so when it comes time to bolt it on i don't have to assemble all of that and it will speed up the install.

New 8 port 5 gallon aluminum tank will be here Monday. Axle brackets for the bags will probably be here Friday. And Thursday i should have the order in for the 8" Notch

Theres a good reason why everyone has a 350. And to make it a 383 isn't that much more work. But I know thats way down the road for you. Let me know if you need any help doing the 4 link stuff.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I will. I have it together except for putting the grease fittings in and tightening the nuts on the bushings and some other things. The hard part is getting the welding done. I know someone but it's through a friend and i'm having trouble getting a price. I need the notches welded, the steel welded between them for bracing, the brackets welded to the top of the axle, and the bag mounts welded to the metal between the notches. Besides that it's all bolt on.

I'm hoping to get the notch Thursday so i can get the welding out of the way once i get the steel for bracing the notch. Even if i don't have bags i would still have it ready and i would just need to bolt everything on and wire it up once i got it.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Haven't figured out how i'm going to hook everything up yet. I know my valves will be on the front ports and i will probably plug up the drain port since it will be upside down anyways. The end ports will be for my comp (Middle) and air gauge (Smaller) and the other small one will be plugged for now. I might get another 5 gallon eight port later and run the two together once i get enough compressors.

you're gonna have to start with a 350 either way. unless you buy one already stroked from gm. i think you should just keep the 4.3 in it IMO

Sounds like a plan. I can bring my own grinder, disks, reciprocating saw,and blades. I just need to welding done since i don't even know how to turn on a welder. But hopefully i will later on

I can't believe that little bitch messed with my truck while were were in the movies though. I feel violated...someone just messed with my stuff and left. I ruined their fun by having my switches and compressor hooked to an ignition on source though...ha

I would keep the 4.3 for as long as it lasts. Even then, when it takes a shit...I would look in to what shit and try to fix it. If unfixable or too expensive, then I would start looking for 350s. And its not that much more work to make it a 383....no work on your part, just some more on the machine shop.

And what happened to your truck while in the movies?

I pulled in and parked and i let it down and when i opened my door the guy next to me was like "Man,do it again" so i lifted it and dropped each side individualy. The guy seemed all excited to see a bagged truck so i didn't think anything about it. We went in and watched the movie and when we walked back to my truck someone had been inside it and my switchbox was in the passenger side of the seat and the extra wire was pulled out form behind the seat like someone had been trying to use it outside the truck. I checked over everything and nothing was stolen or broken. But i felt violated that someone had invaded my space like that and tampered with my property.

If i ever see the guy again he's going to need some good insurance after i'm done. Shit like that get's under my skin. But one thing that made me laugh was the fact he couldn't do shit with the switchbox. He probably got aggrivated trying to igure out how to work it. I have the compressor and the switchbox wired to an ignition source so the key has to be in the ignition and turned atleast halfway forward before ANY power get's to the compressor or switches

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Yep. But i am replacing my door locks because i don't have keys. Otherwise that wouldn't have happened. I'm also getting an alarm. Even though it's not one of the best trucks around here i still don't want it ****ed with. But anyways.... I just saved myself about $40. I found roughly 24 feet of 1/2" airline left over from when i bought the stuff to bag the front way back.

I may have some wire to extended the compressor also so that will save like $5-$7 more. I also have a couple reducer bushings and stuff laying around if they will fit. I'm going to try and get the notches order Thursday and then go to the local place and price the metal to go between them to mount my bag mounts. If i have enough i will go ahead and get the steel for the bag mounts and when the notch comes in i'll get it all welded. Maybe i can get lucky and find some used bags that i can borrow until i order mine the next week otherwise i'll be rolling static with a notch and bag mounts welded in place

In my signature? It's a joke really. I bought a '62 fullsize chevy hot wheels that was slammed in the front and i was playing around and body dropping it. I was going to link to a picture of it as a joke so people got all excited then it lead to a hot wheels pic

I am looking at an old 60's chevy pickup. The same guy that sold me that parts truck has it. He told me he'd let it go for the same price. I forget but it think i paid $250 for the parts truck. The old truck needs a lot of work because of rusted out spots but it would make a nice hot rod.

I would love a body dropped old silverado though....... Might be the next truck i add to my collection. After i move out and get my own place that is. I'm tired of still living with the parentals.

Well, now it's dripping transmission fluid from somewhere. I thought it was oil at first but i looked closer and it's red,not oil colored. It's coming from right in front of the crossmember it looks like. I don't think it could be the shifter but that's all i can think of. I sealed it up good when i put it on last...wtf is up with this shit?

I'm waiting to get my check later then cashing it on the way home and hopefully i will have enough to order my notches.

Well.....I'm a broke bitch and can't afford my notches until next paycheck

I did however get my axle brackets in today

I'm just gonna buy a seat cover since that vinyl covering is coming off that i sprayed. And i'm doing my oil change this week and just cleaning up some stuff. I might go ahead and put my new doors on since i can't really do anything else.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I should have called it project: Weekly paycheck

I found my transmission leak. The damn shifter bolts will not stay tight no matter how tight i get them. All four were taken out by hand. I topped off the fluid and cleaned the surface of the shifter and transmission then put more silicone on and tightened the hell out of the bolts.

22 Days until spring fling.... It looks like i might just make it. Barely of course. Since i can't do much i will be trying to clean it up and do small things like finish some bondo spots and get the doors swapped. Soon it'll be all flat black instead of a million colors...

^^^Put red loctite on those bolts. Or if you don't want to buy that, put some locking washers on.

We have some medium strength loctite here at the shop. I'm gonna wait and if they loosen again i'll try some of that.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Well,i didn't get my door on today but i did manage to break the exterior handle on my driver door. I went to open my door at advance and the ****er just broke for no reason. Oh,and i managed to get myself pulled over on highway 98 earlier by three city cops for dragging... No ticket just a warning that my insurance reciept looked shitty and the company needed to do a better job.

I pulled the whole "I'm sorry officer. I was shifting and hit my switchbox with my arm." I forgot the fact i had three drug trailer balls in the bed. They let me go though. I was in my neighborhood when they got me anyways... The one cop that was talking to me and took my info was loving my truck. The old cop that was with him told me to hit the switch and when i did he stepped back with his mouth all hanging open in shock.

It was pretty fun....
