Me too. From what Nick said they're hard to find but i kinda want 2 more so i can use them on my truck. He mentioned sanding the paint off and polishing them up. If i could find 2 more i would get a set of tires for them.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Finally found the wrench for the transmission. 17mm allen wrench. I drained the gear oil and put in 2 quarts of dexron 2. It doesn't seem to be dripping fluid but i only drove around the neighborhood and didn't get out of 3rd gear so it still might do it. Even with a hose that fill port is a bitch to get to. I had to use a 4-5 foot hose and snake it around stuff to get to it and be able to hold the bottle upright.

Nothing new really. Just waiting on some $$ so i can buy parts and supplies...

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

In the future..... I plan to bag and lay out the rear with income tax and i'm going to be replacing my front end within the next 3-4 weeks. I'm also considering saving a small portion of my paychecks and buying another s10 for a daily. My transmission still grind at 45mph but anything higher than that and just fifth gear in general grinds like crazy. I just have to cruise 40-45mph and i'm good. It also is pretty fun to drag on dumbasses who think they're going to tailgate me too

Just be careful of that. Some people are crazy and will follow you. Don't you watch the news and hear about people shooting others for the dumbest shit?

They are few and far between. They are the same style that also came on the 80's Monte Carlo SS, just had different center caps. I bought all four plus the lug nuts from a friend one time for $50 to put on a 79 Camaro coupe but they just didn't look good, so I sold them to another friend for the same price just to break even. THEN after I had sold them, a guy I worked with at the time back in the mid 90's told me they were worth (at that time) $200 and maybe more. Boy was I sick! Wish I had them back. The early 15" 3rd gen Camaro wheels look good too, polish the lips and the ribs and paint the rest. I done some IROC wheels once that turned out awsome. Here's the IROC wheels I done.

Yea but it doesn't worry me. If they ride my ass they deserve it. I can't stand looking in my mirrors and someone is practically under my truck.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I just learned about road rage today in my drives ed class in school. In the book we have it said if you flip people off or curse at people while driving more than twice a year you have a problem. I rode in my aunt's car for 2 hours and she did that 5 times.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I don't flip people off and i only cuss them to myself.

Small update

I have to buy the fan blade and fan shroud at the junkyard this weekend when me and my girlfriend go. I'm also hoping to get my timing double checked while i'm out because i think plugging that sensor up ****ed with it (Forgot a sensor when setting timing) and that's why it's running rich. Also going to try and replace the spark plugs this week if i get it to stop running rich. Bed will be coming back off too.

I'm thinking about doing like some other forum users and just doing a nice spraypaint job on the truck. I've seen trucks done with spraypaint that looked almost as good as regular paint. I just can't decide on color. I want something that looks cool but is easy to keep clean..

What i'll be doing tommorow night or Thursday evening..

Eric thinks it will be fine to run 20w50 but since i'm running 10w30 right now i'm going to give 10w40 a try for now and see how it runs with it instead of 30 weight. Should hopefully help with oil pressure during hot days. If 10w40 doesn't satisfy me i'll be switching to 20w50 next time.

I dread replacing the ignition cylinder tommorow but it's got to be done. Hopefully that will solve the problem. It's obviously got to to be the ignition cylinder, starter,or starter wiring. It's probably the cylinder and if not then the starter. I'll post the results once i get the cylinder put in.

What kind of degreaser did you use?

Just the cheap engine degreaser from wal-mart. It works good but you need a toothbrush to scrub with.

I saw one back last summer that was primer gray BUT they used the dark gray primer on the top half and the light gray primer on the bottom half. It had a flame pattern that overlapped from the dark gray onto the lighter gray. It looked really good.
You can paint spray can paint on and let it dry for a day or two then wet sand it with 2000 grit wet or dry paper then buff it out for a decent looking job. I painted a Camaro like that once and it shined like a $200 paint job, and got lots of compliments on how good it looked but it cost less than $20 ! The only down side is it lasts about one summer unless the vehicle is garaged. Mine sat out it the sun all time but an occasional coat of wax would revive it back to shiny.

I thought that but considering i live in the county i don't want the redneck look. I may get the flat lime green or just get the whole truck flat black for now.

A couple random camera phone photos while me and my girlfriend were eating tonight..

*Lower than a ford focus

*Obviously going to be lower than a fullsize but i still thought it looked cool. My truck looks tiny in this one..

If Nick isn't busy tommorow and feels like it i am going to pull my bed back off and see if my grinding/whining noise goes away when i hit 45mph+ It does it even if i get in neutral but it will stop when i get to 35-40mph. My pinion angle is shit when the bed is on because of the weight on the back end. Until i can get my driveshaft cut or some jtr setback plates i will drive it without the bed.

I hope to have the vinyl bench seat in tommorow or Saturday if i have enough money for black vinyl dye this week. Is it possible just to run a hose off the motor to the radiator and bypass the heater core btw? I think mine might be leaking because my passenger floorboard gets a little damp and since i don't have a blower motor i thought about getting rid of the heater core altogether.

Yes about the heater core hose. Just run the one hose off the water pump to the intake or if think you can handle this without tearing something up...you can take out the fitting in the intake and water pump and just plug them off. Then you can run a water temp gauge off the intake port and we can see how hot this thing is running.

I don't want to mess with that fitting for fear of what happened last time happening again. I was thinking run the hose off the radiator straight to the intake instead of routing it though the heater core.

I will have my bed off tonight but i will still get that tank to you. I'll strap it to the frame if i have to but i'll get it to you Sunday. I hope to be by early because Naomi has to work at 4 or 5 and i have to go by barry's and pull those parts, come by your house and check my timing and give you that tank, and go by Russel's house and help him with his ranger, then drive Naomi to work on time all the way back by my house

It is ****ing COLD outside... we got my bed off though and i put my tail-lights on as quickly as possible. I don't have brake or turn signal lights which is gay. I will have to stop at the store and get some. Here is Nick's sonoma...

It's all flat black now. He's supposed to be getting my parts truck bed to replace his because his bed supports broke and the sides are flaring out. It's sweet though

I'm ordering a chrome 3 piece grill to replace it. I'm also getting another chrome bumper like i had and clear side markers and bumper lights. I wish i had my camera with me tonight. I drug half through my brand new trailer ball and with the bed off it looked sweet. I'll post the video me and Nick edit together.

That is sharp but just looks spooky with all those sparks going toward the back of the truck where the fuel tank is. I'd be afraid of a leak or something going bad. Why not drag the rear?

Because the back isn't bagged. I checked for leaks and i check every so often to make sure none have popped up since then.

It took 4 hours of waiting but i did my taxes and i'm getting back $871.05 which will be going straight on my debit card and i'll be ordering the fbi bolt-on 4 link. I'll order the rest out of my weekly paychecks and within 1-2 months it will be fully bagged. I already have upper bag plates and a driveshaft tunnel.

Picked up some parts today at the junkyard but nothing special. Just got another fan blade so i can put on my new mechanical fan,a fan shroud, and a valance for the front bumper. It needs washing off though (Truck) because rain sucks when you don't have a bed.

Putting that on hold. Bags first, grill and bumper later. I might get the bumper btu the grill won't be coming until after the bags.

I did some dragging earlier and wore the trailer ball down to the base plate. I didn't realize it until i stopped and pulled back into captain d's and Nick told me i didn't have any ball left. So what did i do but bolt on my old worn down trailer ball that still had a few feet of dragging left on it

My valance on the temporary bumper

Wore the **** OUT

Possible paint color? (Dark but the flash makes it look too light)

And my drags that Nick filmed for me.

Girlfriend is coming over after work but before leaving i'm going to swap and put my mechanical fan and shroud on and sand/paint the piece that goes between the grill and bumper to see how that lime green will look. I'll eventually be pulling the fenders off to sand and paint them too. I'll have to buy more paint though. I only bought one can to see how it would look. I'll post pics when i paint that piece. It looks wierd because i'm not used to it but it's pretty cool.

Hopefully dying my vinyl bench seat tommorow after work. Not sure if i'll be able to get it in tommorow though. It depends on how cold it gets. It's been pretty cold here lately. It was about 19 degrees the other night..

I'm not sure how well it will stay clean though. I don't want to wash it every day just to keep it from getting dirty. Also i don't want it to look like spraypaint. I know if you sand it proper it will look real good but i don't want people to see it and know it's spray even if it looks good..

Then again if i don't like it i can easily sand it back off and it won't be terribly expensive.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I thought about flat black and lime green but i want a solid color. The stock color was two tone and it was alright but i would prefer a solid color. I'm considering flat red but Nick said he had it and it looked like shit so i dunno. I'm having trouble deciding what color i like..
I could just get one of those $300 polyeurathane paint jobs and call it a day.

You could but you probably wouldn't be happy with it.

or if not two tone and you want a solid color just do a bit of striping on it in black or accents or scallops
