Nope. It's only off on the driverside door. It still works fine though. I have to slam the door still but at least it closes all the way unlike before where i slammed it and it STILL would have a gap and rattle when i hit bumps. I'll get it fully fixed soon. I'm just happy it at least closes fully.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Bad news. I was coming home from the pet store on the way to meet my girlfriend and my clutch went out on me. I was lucky and was right by a church so i coasted it into the parking spot (Even parked nicely, lol) and shut it off. I had it towed back home and it's sitting in my yard right now. It will run around $600 to have the flywheel re-grooved or re-surface (I forgot what it was going to have done) and if needed he'll put a new flywheel on it. He's also going to be putting me in a brand new clutch that's better than the one it had. I should have it fixed real soon. Just got to do my income tax and work as much as i can and i will have the money. It sucks because i had just filled up my gas tank like 2-3 hours earlier.

Nothing that would make someone say "Oh my god!" but it will be a nice dependable clutch. I found one that i'm going to discuss with the mechanic and i might have him use it. It's the cheapest one advance sells BUT it has a limited lifetime replacement where the more expensive only have a limited 1 year warranty.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

It won't be long and i'll have the bed replaced and a rollpan. I've just got to get my new clutch put in before i start fixing it up. My friends dad might be doing a new paintjob on it for cheap once i get all the body parts on. It will be the same color but instead of grey/black/grey it will be grey top and then the rest will be black. I'll also be getting rid of those little red stripes that seperate the colors.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Strange turn of events. I got in to crank the truck to charge the battery and stuff and when i pressed the clutch to start it i felt some play still but i felt resistance in the pedal so i tried shifting and for no reason it all of a sudden works now. It shifts through every gear including neutral and reverse like it used to with no problem. I never did actually take it to the shop because i didn't have all of the money yet but the mechanic thought the clutch was gone when he towed it but i called him today and he said it might just be the master cylinder trying to go out. It drove in reverse for me in my yard but i didn't dare take it out of the yard and drive around for fear of breaking down again. Should be up and running real soon and my leftover income tax money will be buying me new body parts.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Thankfully everyone was mistaken. It turns out that my slave cylinder or master cylinder is acting up. I put in more fluid, pumped the clutch, and now it's working fine. It drives in reverse and forward and idles in gear. I'm going to check with a mechanic tommorow to see what they think but i'm pretty sure i'll be replacing the slave cylinder tommorow and getting some minor goodies for it with the leftover money.

Now i just have to figure out how to replace the slave cylinder. From what i've read and been told it's not very difficult to do.

Cool. I read that the hard part was the bleeding process. But i bought the slave cylinder today and i'm picking up a shock on warranty for my right/front and putting it on tommorow. The truck died on me in my neighborhood before making it to the highway and it wanted to die while in gear. I had filled up without putting in sea foam and before then it worked fine so i put in 16 ounces of sea foam and it runs fine in my yard. No bogging down on cold starts. I think it's getting some water in the gas because the previous owner cut the bed floor above the fuel pump and gas tank. Once it's running fine i'll go pick up the bed and that should fix that problem with the gas. For now i'm just going to pick up some minor goodies for it from the parts store.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

The slave cylinder is replaced. I didnt know but the rod had slipped and wasn't in right so the mechanic fixed that up for me then we got the clutch bled and it works now (I had to sit in and pump the pedal because he works alone)

I now know one reason my truck is runnign weak. When looking at the engine from the front of the truck, the right injector is spraying shitty. The left one sprays nice and clean but the right looks clumpy kinda like it's not spraying at the proper flow.

I'm going to probably add some more sea foam and run it idling for abotu 5 minutes then 5 more minutes while giving it gas off and on and see if that cleans it up. It ran fine before. If i didn't have local people calling about the 4.3 motor form my blazer i would just take an injector off there and put it on my truck...

It drives though but bucks a little like it's losing power. But hey,at least the clutch works now and i have a new slave cylinder on it right?

The new shock works good too. I put on brakes hard in front of my house and no more shaking and noises from the right front. Next job is to clean (Hopefuly) or put a new fuel injector on that side (Not hopefully..)

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Gotta love moms. I'm kinda broke at the moment and she bought me another bottle of sea foam. I put it in the tank and cranked the truck and gave it a little gas then let it idle for a couple minutes and drove it around the neighborhood twice and it's working fine now. I'll still probably replace the injectors later but they're like $160 for two re-man'd ones.

Plans are to buy the rollpan soon when i get some more money and i will most likely be using my income tax money to buy a new bed and tailgate from the u-pull it. I've already had my friend asking me when we were going to get it

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Ugh! It drives fine around my neighborhood for about a mile and a half but if i get on the highway and drive about 1 minute down the road to my friends neighborhood, drive though his neighborhood and circle back to the highway then come home,it starts sputtering like it's choking. It's about 2.5 miles there and back roundtrip and it only seems to do it when hot so based on the stuff i read and was told my catalytic converter is clogged.

I'm going tommorow and buying some pipe from the parts store and a couple of those exhaust clamps and removing the catalytic converter for a week or two (Two at most) until i can get the money for the new cat and the $50-$55 for the muffler shop to weld it in place.

Gotta get this thing ready quick for the drive to biloxi for scrapin the coast

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Tried removing the converter but about 30 seconds into cutting it ruined my only metal cutting blade for my reciprocating saw so no luck on cutting it out. I'm just going to wait until Wednesday or Thursday of this week and take it to the muffler shop and have it replaced. I also found out my gas gauge is off. It showed about 1/4 tank but my truck shut off and wouldn't start back for a few minutes then after starting it would shut off after 2-3 seconds. Turns out my truck was out of gas even though the gauge showed 1/4

I'm going to get that sorted out soon so my gas gauge reads properly aswell as fix the temperature gauge since summer is coming up and i live way down south.

Yeah i found out it's that or the gauge. The fuel sending unit is like $160 though so it can stay like that for a few months.

I ran the sea-foam through the gas tank. It doesn't say anything on the can about changing the oil? It idles fine now after i put some gas in the tank. It just ran out and i didn't realize it because the gauge was saying 1/4 and i didn't think to check the tank itself until later that night.

I have a 94' with the same engine and I had all the same problems. First it was my o2 sensor making my truck start spitting and sputtering though. so if it starts doing it again than you might want to check that too.

I was told i would get a check engine light if my 02 sensor went bad? I don't get the engine light when driving. It only goes bad when hot.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Success! I found 1 more metal cutting blade that i forgot i had and i got the cat cut off. I then removed the exhaust pipe and muffler since i didn't have any pipe to replace the cat with and i just drove a little over 4 miles and it did fine. I stopped by the gas station and put a couple bucks in just to get to work tommorow then i'll fill up my tank. Right now i have the headers then Y pipe. The Y pipe dumps the exhaust right under the cab so it sounds like i've got a 350 instead of a 262 when idling and when i get on the gas even the normal amount it thunders inside the cab. I don't have a video of pics but i will get some tommorow if i feel up to it. It's 3:45 and i still have to get a shower and go to sleep then be up at 7:30 and at work at 8:30 and work until like 5pm which should be fun driving a 5 speed home in harsh rush-hour traffic while being half asleep....

Just wanted to post though 'cause i'm pretty excited to have my truck driving again. It's been about a month since i have driven it i think and it feels great to be behind the wheel and shifting gears once more

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Straight out of the Y pipe and dumped right under the front of the cab. It's just for now so i can drive it until i have my friend weld up a custom dual setup that i have planned.

Closer view. Yeah,it's loud. It vibrates the whole cab and your head at the same time...

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Thanks
My parents did their taxes recently and i found out how much one of my refunds is going to be so i'm planning to get a lot of replacement body parts for the truck. Also my paycheck this week should be pretty sweet so i'm hoping to get that new bed and tailgate finally. Last time i was going to get it i decided it was too late because the place was closing soon and then my truck died on me that same day

My list of stuff:

*Bed/tailgate
*Rollpan to replace bent rear bumper
*Passenger door
*New chrome front bumper without the trim
*Clear corners
*2 or 4 inch cowl hood. I haven't decided the size yet.
*2/3 drop or just a left front shock depending on how much money i have left

A friend of mine's dad has a small body shop business and my friend told me he'd give me a good deal on the paint so once i get all the body parts on and the passenger rocker panel repaired and dents popped out,i'll have his dad primer the truck and sand it for me then paint it a couple week later. And i do plan to swap rims later but that's near the end of my list.

I'd say 2" cowl. cut your springs in front and get the $20 lowering blocks from autozone if you dont mind losing some ride quality. Thats how mine was when i got it, it was on a 3/3 drop, but i put stock springs in and went to a 2" block in the rear. When it goes lower its gonna be on coilovers

I thought 2" because a forum member (See previous topic replies) was going to sell me one for cheap but i seen a photo and it just doesn't look noticeable. I'm not saying i want every driver on the road to stare but i just want people to be able to notice the cowl without having to stare. And i was planning to just purchase lowering springs for the front. I realize the truck is kinda ghetto at the moment however i don't want to make it worse. I'm planning to lower it with new 2" lowering springs in front and new 3" blocks in back. Probably going to get some toxic shocks for a while if i do lower it unless i find a better deal on a brand from the parts-store.

Nothing really new to update today. Just washed it,put some gas in the tank, and finally turned my shifter knob up instead of down (It was upside down when i got it)

I should be going to Theodore,Alabama to a junkyard that's supposidely a 1 gen s10 heaven tommorow. (Technically today) I'll be buying a new bed/tailgate after i pick up my check and get it cashed. I'll post pics when my friend and i get it installed.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Old tailgate.....

New tailgate......

Old bed.....

New bed.....

I've got to get the bed and tailgate sanded/primered/sanded before i put it on but it was a sweet deal for $125.95+ tax. My best friend Toby and i went out in my truck and took the bed off one truck and then found the tailgate on another and could have gotten a kickass passenger door but i didn't have enough money left this week. I'll have it on though in a week or two. I plan to cover everything up and sand/prime/paint the backhalf of the frame once we get the old bed off and then put on the new bed and tailgate. I should also be getting my fiberglass rollpan for it this Thursday when i get paid again.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Nope, not bad at all. It took me and my friend forever though to carry it across the yard to where i could drive in and load it. And when we went to take the tailgate off the other bed at the yard we didn't have the right tools for some reason so i had to buy 2 wrenches just for that which sucked but we managed to get it off. I now have to get a new piece of glass for my back window. I have the 3 piece sliding glass and i was loading the back half of my blazer cab into the bed and the guy (Never will i listen to this guy again. ) pushed one of the blazer doors into the cab and it hit the middle of my back window and shattered the sliding piece of glass. Luckily it had that shitty window tint on otherwise my glass would have broken completely. It' closed for now but i got to get some clear tape (Less shitty looking) and tape the edges on the inside because it broke off the corners. I'm broke until next week too. ****in sucks balls.... oh,and did i mention it's supposed to rain tommorow?

But on a nicer note my truck drove normal even though it was loaded down with the back half of the blazer cab,2 doors with power windows (Heavy....) and a radiator. I couldn't even tell that i was loaded except for the fact i couldn't see behind me.

The tailgate is on the bed now but i need 2 rubber bumper pieces on the bed and one more piece at the bottom for the tailgate to attach to. I seem to have lost one off the new bed so i'll have to wait and pull on off the bed that i have now on my truck when i get ready to swap them.

It should only be another week or two before the swap. I just can't sand/prime really well and i want the bed to be done proper before i take the time to do all of that work swapping them out.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Ok,i'm going to try sanding the bed some this weekend. I don't know how good i can get it but it's worth a try. Since my air compressor crapped out on me i will be having to either use an electric sander or use my uncles air compressor and his air powered sander. If it sands pretty good then i may just prime the bed myself and then sand it by hand to smooth out the primer and install it.

Next up is my fiberglass rollpan and the rear should be complete minus a paint job and bedliner. Next up after that will be a new chrome front bumper without the trim and a new passenger door. Somewhere inbetween i will be buying a couple chrome dressup parts for the engine and i plan to swap out the shifter knob too. The hurst is nice but i like the regular round knob however i plan to make my own knob. I won't say what it will be,but it has been done plenty of times but i still like it and it's old school which is pretty cool.

I will be swapping out my rear window for a 1 piece too. I used to love being able to open the back window but **** it. Now that the sliding piece got shattered i'm just going to put a cheap piece of glass in from the glass shop until i get some other stuff done then i will have all new trim put in the back and a brand new un-tinted 1 peice rear window put in. I can see fine in the day but at night i can't see shit because of the dark tint on the back glass....

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I sanded one side of the bed today. The foam peice on the sander that the paper attached to kept coming off and i have no clue how to solve that (New to power sanders... ) It doesn't look too bad right now but i'm not done on that side. I still have to remove the glue on the side from the trim and sand it some more then do the front of the bed and the right side. After that it's on to the tailgate and i should be done. I'll tape it off and cover the inside of the bed and primer it depending on wether or not i am satisfied with my sanding job. I'll hand sand it after priming and get it smooth then me and one of my friends will get it put on the truck.

Here's a couple photos to satisfy you guys until i get it primed.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I love having a truck....i really do. Made an easy $30 for hauling a load of pallets from work. Since i was already working today i just loaded them after work and drove home with them in the bed so i didn't really make an extra trip so i can take the whole $30 and put it in my gas tank.

And the rollpan should be here by the end of the week. I get paid Thursday and i'm working side jobs also. I am probably going to sand the new bed and tailgate some more and try to scrub off that goo from where the trim was on the sides of the bed and the tailgate. That's the hardest part about the whole process >_<

Hopefully my new bed will be on soon. Of course once it's on i won't be hauling stuff like i am now. Just the ocassional bike and some lawnmowers.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Messed around on the new bed for a few minutes. I managed to scrape off the goo from the trim that i removed by using a 1 1/4" wood chisel and just scraping back and forth like 100 times. It got it off though and i sprayed the sides down with de-greasing cleaner and scrubbed them to get any little bit left off and hose the sides clean. I still need to sand 5-10 more minutes on the left side of te bed and the tailgate but they are just about done. Then i have to rotate the bed and sand the right side then sand the front of the bed behind the cab. Once all of that is done i can pop out some little dents and stuff then spray the outside of the bed and tailgate in primer. The inside will be left alone as i plan to spray black 3M bed-liner on the inside. Pics tommorow after more work is done on the bed.

A gang of progress has been made since i last checked. Good job, That's hella cheap for a bed and tailgate.I would recommend put a muffler or cat back on though. I did the same thing to my old s10 and it eventually lost all the back pressure and would nut run unless i let it sit for a month.

Sweet looking truck man! That thing probably drives nice since its a 5 speed 4.3. Looks like it had a radiator blow up in its past...lol Glad we have no rain here, dont have to worry about rust.

I'm going to try and clamp my muffler on soon. It was clamped to the exaughst pipe but i'm not sure if it will be big enough to clamp onto the Y pipe. It runs fine though but if i'm driving and let off the gas it pops and i can't stand that. I never heard it with the exaughst on so i'm going to just put it back on soon. I can probably get a cat cheap and have a friend weld it on for me then just bolt the exaughst back on.

I doubt i will get a nice paycheck this week or i would shop around for my new passenger door. I am however getting the rollpan and i might possibly go to the junkyard and get a new glovebox door. Mine is broken on one of the hinges and it's annoying not to be able to use it because of that.

What do you think of 2nd gen swirlies on 1st gens? I seen a red or orange truck on the forum with them and street scene looking mirrors and it looked pretty sweet. The truck was static dropped pretty low though.
