I got my u-bolts but i had to buy a 3" block kit to get them. I put them on,dropped my girlfriend off at work, then came home and washed my truck and got the mud off (Except little spots that need more scrubbing) It looks pretty good. You can't tell a difference when driving with the pulled leaf but when i have it at full lift you can definately tell it rides a little lower in the rear (What i was going for) It kind asucks though cause when i have a passenger my truck leans to the right so i have to let out a little on the left bag to even it out. With just me (In other words: No weight) it rides alright except a little low on the left some.

I had my dad stand on the frame to put some weight on it and it'll lower 2" or a little more when the bed and tailgate is on. Especially if i throw some bags of concrete in the bed

Colorado,if you want 3" blocks still i have two brand new black 3" blocks and 2 u-bolts and i have nuts and washers. All you need are two u-bolts and you're set. If you want i'll sell the rest to you pretty cheap. Just pm me and we'll agree on a price and i'll ship them to you. I didn't need but two u-bolts but i had to buy a kit to get them.

Lifted...

Layed out...

What is left of my trailer ball..

I finally found a trailer ball with a 3/4" shank that is long enough. It's at advance but i don't have the $9.88 right now to waste on a trailer ball. I have a huge 2" ball that my co-worker gave me to drag but it's got a 1" shank and i don't feel like ****ing up my expensive 3/4" bit by wallowing out the hole to 1".

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

And the problem with the trailer ball would be....? I can think of two things. One would be it flying off and going through someones radiator or it catching something and ruining the frame. Neither of which are a problem. I ride fully lifted almost 100% of the time and the trailer ball isn't coming off anytime soon. I have a new one on now that i just bought earlier tonight and it's got the split washer on and the nut tightened down real good. I doubt it'll ever come off unless i put vice grips and a wrench on it.

Bed will be on tommorow after i remove the driverside bumpstop. I've just got to call my friends and get them over to help lift the bed.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Thanks. I need to have my timing double checked because of the fact i forgot to plug up that sensor. I think the problem is it's flooding out a little. I'm going to try changing my distributor cap and see if that changes anything. If not it'll still be good to replace since it's been on the truck probably 17 years now.

Can't wait to put the bed back on and see how it all looks. I'm going to try and get new door pins Thursday when i get more money and swap the doors off the parts truck onto mine after i touch them up a little with flat black paint. I'm also considering spraying my grill flat black for now. Hopefully i'll have another bumper soon too.

That so was not my fault. I don't even know how it happened. I just noticed it when i was trying to remove them and was like

You can get them back if you want though. I'll bring them after i get the back bagged.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

It was like that when i bought it as far as i know. My airline for my gauge blew off twice in walmart's parking lot. I finally went in and got some hose clamps. It leaks a bit but it stays on. I'm going to fix it tommorow when it's daylight. For now i can drive and just kick my compressor on every so often.

None yet. I had a busy night. My nut holding the steering linkage to the idler arm or w/e it's called came off. I went to leave my girlfriend's last night and noticed when i started reversing that it wouldn't turn. I pull back forward and looked out the window and turned the wheel and that's when i knew what happened.

My mom wouldn't come out and get me since it was around 4am and my girlfriend doesn't have a car right now so i slept in my truck and she slept with me since i couldn't sleep inside (People she lives with..)

I got back around 1pm to her house (Got picked up around 7am finally) and we replaced the nut and i tightened that ****er down good. My transmission is making whining noises in fourth and fifth when i let off the gas though. Nick thinks it's going out but i don't know really. It's got full fluid (80w-w90 gear oil as recommened) but still makes noise. It seems a little better if i lower the front and ride even but it still makes a little noise.

I'll try and get some pics later.

You should be running ATF in that 5 speed. I just did my clutch on my 91 and it called for ATF in the tranny.

I was always under the understanding it was gear oil. Nick said the atf but i've been told gear oil before. Could that be the leak problem?

I highly doubt it would cause a leak. Where is it leaking from exactly?

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Looks like by the shifter but i put silicone around it. It leaks now more since i topped it off the other day. It's dripping off the transmission by the slave cylinder. Not bad but enough to get on the y pipe when idling and smoke.

Nick said fill it to the top. Could i have put a little too much in? i'm clueless about transmissions..

Uh...............um....like 5? I listened to my friend Nick and filled it until it was all the way to the top. I checked at advance and i think it said 5 but i forget. I just remember Nick telling me just fill it to the top so i did.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Yeah post something up in the transmission section about it. I'm pretty sure all I used was a little over 2 and Dextron II. There is a fill plug on the side of the tranny, should just barely seep out fluid on level ground.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Had a couple problems today....

1.Melted a fuse for my compressor
2.Blew an airline while driving down airport boulevard in lunch hour traffic

I had to call the wrecker guy i use and get it lifted off the ground and drug out of the road and then he managed to get it on the rollback and i paid $100 to have it hauled back home. It's all fixed now but i took a chunk out of tgi fridays' parking lot. Nothing is bent but it still sucked.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

The ball itself dug into the pavement. It went all the way down so the skidplate still touched. It saved my transmission though since it hangs below the frame and would have hit instead. I was actually sticking out into the road but not completely. People still had to get around me though. Some of those ****ers cut close too. Drivers here ****ing suck.

Random pics*

It's all fixed now and i drove it 3-4 hours later when i got back home to work on it. I'm replacing the passenger headlight tommorow, putting on an old bumper so i atleast have a front bumper for now,and draining my transmission and re-filling it with dexron 2. I'm also sanding and spraying the piece that goes under the grill flat black and putting it on. I'm considering spraying my grill flat black until i can get a billet grill.

Did you have a hose clamp on the line that blew off or a compression fitting?

And I do remember someone saying a bit earlier in this thread that the trailer ball there was a dangerous thing....

I keep the ball on because i like to drag randomly when driving and it keeps me from laying out on my transmission. If i didn't have it on my transmission would have been the part that dug into the ground and i wouldn't have been driving it later that night. And no there wasn't one. I never had to worry about it before but the line got flared out too much and it wasn't tight and blew off. I have a hose clamp on it and i cut off 4" or so from the hose so it fits tight and i clamped it as tight as i could so it's on there good and isn't leaking.

I'm about to go out and start with the headlights and stuff. I'm not even sure where the fill plug is but hopefully i can find it. I think it's on the driverside of the transmission isn't it?

Like i said it keeps me from laying out on my transmission and i do like to drag it occassionally. What is everybody's obsession with my trailer ball anyway? Am i the only person with a bagged truck on the forum that drags? Seriously.

Here's my temporary front end until i get money to replace it.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

you have a pole vault mounted to your skid plate. Ive seen frames twist from that crossmember catching shit in the road, but with that big lever on there its only a matter of time before it catches something in the road and twists that entire engine crossmember down. IDK how much you looked at how that engine cradle is attached to the frame rails but its not by much IMO. Were not riding you just trying to not see you have to do another frame swap. and yes i drag my truck a decent amount. pretty much everytime i park it, i drag to a stop. Id rather see some flat plate welded to it then that big ass ball hanging down

I'm pretty sure the obsession is the fact that those hitch balls are notorious for breaking off while dragging, resulting in someone getting hurt/ it going into someone's vehicle. Put some blocks on the frame for dragging

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

I can't drag the rear and i never seen blocks for the front. When i drag i normally drag without people behind me. And i wouldn't mind a plate welded to the frame like v8blaze mentioned but i don't have a welder and it would cost too much to get someone to keep welding metal to it. I will eventually re-do it just once i get the proper tools.

But anyway if we could get off the topic of trailer balls & dragging and back to the truck itself..
I'm waiting to file income tax and i think i'm going to bag the back with my income tax like i did with the front last time. I'm just going to pay for the grill and bumper out of my regular paychecks.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

When I first noticed that ball was on the FRONT side of the crossmember I thought "That is gonna do some damage some day!" I had a 76 Monte Carlo once and hit a railroad track and the front of the crossmember bottomed out and just about ripped the crossmember from the frame! There was only about a half inch or so of the welds holding it to the frame, plus it pushed the oil pan up into the crankshaft. I had to replace the frame but luckily all I had to replace onthe engine was the oilpan.
The truck looks good. now I need to go back and look at this entire thread.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Got stopped last night on the way to my girlfriend's sister's house where we were staying by a city cop for not having a tag light which is a first. I pretty much kissed ass and he was cool and told us to stay out of trouble and be careful. Good thing i was doing 40mph and i wasn't draggin

Me and my friend Jessie pulled the doors off the parts truck and the bench seat saturday. I took the tailgate off of it earlier in the week. They have to be sanded and a couple small parts need some straightening and bondo but the doors are in good shape. I have to re-spray them flat black and dye the interior panels then they are going on my truck. As for the bench it just needs a couple rips in the vinyl repaired and dyed black. The tailgate is bent up at the bottom and needs to be bent out and bondo aswell as the handle straightened and one of the rods hooked back up. I'll put them on soon as i get flat black and vinyl dye.

Bottom was already damaged. I need to hammer it out and apply some bondo and it should clean up decent.

Seat will be cleaned thoroughly with antibacterial spray because it looks disgusting but other than that it just needs some small rips repaired and sprayed with black dye.

The interior panels are vinyl too but they're red. I'll dye them black before i put them on. That way my interior will be black vinyl except for the dash which is now busted anyway thanks to the wreck.

My current ride height

Granted the front wheels are off the pavement my muffler still rides close to the ground. I need to fix that wire so it won't touch too. I didn't notice it until i got to the gas station. It won't touch when i ride all the way lifted but i can't ride low without it touching...

And for those of you who complain about the trailer ball,it's almost gone.

I bought it from summit racing (www.summitracing.com)

Edit: The harmonic balancer and the pulley are two seperate pieces. The harmonic balancer goes on first then the pulley just bolts to it.

I'll be getting it piece by piece and putting it on once i have all the pieces. I'm going to try and order the bumper one week, the grill parts the next, then the lights next. If i can i will be taking a trip to the junkyard this weekend and pulling a fan shroud and valance for the bumper.
