Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Replaced the power steering line, and replaced the plugs and wires. It stutters a little bit still but not as bad. Mostly at low rpm but when driving it'll stop stuttering when i get up in speed but high rpm it wants to stutter just a little until i shift.
I drove it up the road to captain d's and the gas station though so that's a major improvement =) |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
I'm not sure. It stopped stuttering now though. Hitting 70mph and flooring ti tends to help that
I guess it was just from sitting for so long and me driving like a lunatic today got everything cleaned out. It drives pretty nice but the steering has slack and it pulls to the left and it's hard to keep it straight and not go into someones lane. I did get to drag it tonight and today. I even drug down my road with my neighbors watching. They didn't know what the hell was going on ![]() |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
****ing fan clutch flew off the shaft it goes on and went straight into my new (Almost $200) radiator and put a tiny hole in it. I had to limp home with no fan and a leaking radiator and stop every so often to let it cool down and put more water in once it started climbing.
Basically i need to buy a new fan clutch, and blade. I would have used the blade but we couldn't find it in the road. It had $14 worth of bolts on it that i would have liked to returned and gotten the money to put towards parts too. Except for that one thing it drove decent today. Pics when i get my camera (Tommorow) out of my mom's car. While i'm waiting on the money for parts i think i'm going to go ahead and pull that leaf. |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Im thinking you might have had some carbon in it to make it stutter. You might have just burnt it out. So thats good but i say don't waste anymore money on a new fan put the electric one in. You haven't been driving this long whats a little bit longer.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Nah the bolts were good. The fan clutch actually came off the shaft that bolts it to the water pump pulley. The shaft is still bolted to the pulley but the clutch and the fan blade (Still bolted to the clutch) shot off and flew into the radiator then shot out from under my truck after putting a pinhole in my radiator.
Carbon might be the problem. My plugs when i changed them were kinda black so i'm assuming it's carbon. I've never let it sit this long so i'm not sure what it could be. I'm just going to run it and see if it starts to clear up. It seems like it's getting a little better already. Quick question though, the hole in the radiator is really tiny. It's a pinhole really. Is there anyway to patch a hole that small or am i going to be forced to buy a whole new radiator? |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
i've used quicksteel several times to patch things..i punched a hole in my oil pan once and cleaned it up real good and put that shit on it and it worked fine, its like a putty that hardens..it wouldn't hurt to try that first since its only about 5 bucks...

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() That quick steel seams to be doing the job. I need to wire the + power wire from the fan to an ignition source then i'll be good. It's only temp though then ii'm just going back to a regular fan. I'm not too into the e-fan now that i've messed around with it. Way too much trouble.. |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
I wired it all ghetto for now. I just ran the wire between the fender and cab then inside the cab by the door hinges and since i dont' have a/c i stuck the wire in with the fuse for the a/c. I think my transmission is leaking where the shifter goes on. The gasket it had when i took it off wasn't re-usable and they don't sell one at the parts stores so i didn't put one on. I'm planning to check it once it cools and see i it's lost fluid and put silicon on and put the shifter on.
Besides the fluid dripping on the y-pipe and smoking it drives good except for something in the alignment or something beinf out of wack. It stays straight though but you have to really pay attention and try. |

You have to use silicone when you put the shifter in the transmission.
The truck probably just needs to be aligned...I would check out the front end first though to see how wore out the tie rod ends, center link, and idler arm are before getting it aligned. |

No pics. I forgot to get some at the gas station when i stopped for gas. I did get some kickass videos though, courtesy of my kickass girlfriend
![]() ![]() ![]() I'll try to get pics tommorow. I just keep forgetting or i don't feel like opening my gate and driving somewhere just to get photos. I'm taking a weeks vacation hopefully Monday and i hope to be able to pull the leaf from both sides and remove the bump stop brackets and put my bed back on. While i'm at it i'm going to clean up the inside and start swapping my doors and bench seat. Hopefully clean up under the hood and get rid of all the hacked stuff i did under there so i coudl drive it and do it proper. I'm also going to start making a list of parts to get my front end back like it was (Minus a 1 piece grill) Last edited by Kiko : 01-01-2009 at 09:05 PM. |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
I popped my hood to fix my passenger headlight and get it hooked up only to find rusty water on my air cleaner, alternator, and hoses under the hood. I got to inspecting stuff and my upper radiator hose touched the alternator fan tonight and it got a hole in the side and sprayed water everywhere. I fixed the headlight so they both work now (although the passenger light is shitty and is temporary until i can afford a new set)
I've got to buy another hose and figure out a way to keep that from happening again. I want to just buy another truck to drive though. I found a GMC S15 that's really clean but they want $1500 for it. I won't go over $700-$1000 though because that price is way too high. It's a 2.5 4 cylinder with a 5 speed. It's also just like my truck. I'd love it for a daily since it's a 4 cylinder and i could easily slam it the first day i bought it and drive it. I need to figure out what's wrong with my truck though that's causing it to try and die randomly. If i could fix that then it would be fine. |

If you've got rusty water in the cooling system, you need to flush that stuff out.
And just look at the GMC and offer them less. |

^^^I know this guy...he gets on top of certain things when he feels like it. Lol. But yeah, he needs to get on flushing that shit out and not using bend parts like the fan and clutch that he knew were bent. Oh well. You like and learn.
Kiko, what happened to that upper radiator hose I gave you? Did you give it back or do you still have it? I think I remember you saying that it was too short or something? Measure what you have and I'll see if I have one sitting in my garage. |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
It's not too bad but is does have some rusty color to it. I'm buying a new hose when i get off work because i don't know where that hose is if i even have it still. I need to fix my engine problem too. I asked and i also read up on it and it seems like maybe a small intake leak. If so i'm just going to drive it close by my house and be carefull with it until i can save the $261 for an edelbrock intake that i really want. Once i get it i'll put new gaskets on and replace the manifold and call it a day.
Before i go and do all of that though i'm going to check and make sure it's leaking. I just need some carb cleaner to spray around the edges to check for leaks. I'm taking a weeks paid vacation Monday so i'll have pretty much all week to work on it and pull those leafs. I should be driving it again tommorow. What are you doing this weekend? Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Happy birthday.
Once i get the engine problem fixed i'm looking to buy *Chrome front bumper without trim holes *Billet 3 piece grill *Clear corners and bumper lights I hope to get another passenger fender too 'cause the one i have is mangled and doesn't line up with the body because of it. I'm fixing to leave work and hopefully make quick work of that radiator hose. |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Well,it tried dieing on me 2-3 times before i pulled out of my parking spot at captain d's tonight. It also stumbled when i was pulling out of the auto parts store into the turning lane. I tried carb cleaner and i can't tell if it's leaking on the intake. I sprayed around the edges where i could get and didn't notice a change in idle. Could it be timing again? I forgot to hook up a plug to the side of the block when we were setting the time but i hooked it up afterwords. It's on the passenger side in the middle near the header. It looks like an 02 sensor or something. It used to drive fine. Any ideas? It tries to die when idling sometime and sometime when driving. Giving it gas stops it though.
I'll put the bed on after i pull a leaf spring this week and cut the bump stop brackets off. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm going to pull the leaf springs tommorow or Monday. I haven't decided yet but it'll be done this week and the bed will be back on. I'm going to try and get to the junkyard this week and rummage around for some parts if i have the money. EDIT: Before anyone rips on me for my driverside headlight,i didn't have any screws to hold it in and i had to go somewhere so i just electrical taped it so it would stay up and no wobble when i drove. I think i have some screws somewhere but if not i'll buy some this week and that's one of the things i was going to tidy up ![]() Last edited by Kiko : 01-03-2009 at 07:39 PM. |

It dropped about 1 1/4" without the bed on. My passenger u-bolts are ****ed. Something bent the hell out of them and one is going to have to be cut off. I can't get them until tommorow morning when the parts store opens either. So no seeing my girlfriend tonight and no driving my truck

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
![]() My u-bolts. I might can save them but i dont know. It'll be a pain in the ass to do that's for sure. I'm thinking i can cut below the nut where it's bent and since i'm pulling a leaf i'lll have plenty of u-bolt sticking out because the leaf pack won't be so thick. The other u-bolt i may can bent out some with a couple big ass wrenches. IF i have to that is. I'd much rather buy two brand new u-bolts. All that's left is to get the other u-bolt off and pull the leaf then bolt the leafs back and bolt the u-bolts back. ![]() ![]() No bed + a muddy front yard = ****ing sucks ![]() ![]() And finally i get to use it ![]() ![]() Last edited by Kiko : 01-04-2009 at 12:13 AM. |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Fixed on u-bolt. The other i had to cut so much off that it isn't long enough to go through that bottom plate and tighten up. I went ahead and got the nuts threaded on the one u-bolt and i lowered it back down so both wheels are on the ground. I'll get another u-bolt tommorow. I'm going to go ahead and remove the bumpstop brackets and install my bed too. The bed won't go on until i can get enough help though. I can't lift it alone and i have to get 2-3 people to lift it without messing something up.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
It will with the bumpstops and brackets. I'm not sure once i remove them because i never rode with monoleaf + the overload. I'm hoping my shocks are stiff enough to help prevent bottoming out. I already bottom out withe the 3" blocks but that's with bumpstops. I won't really know for sure until i drive it.
It's only temp though because i have some of the parts already to bag the back. I'm waiting on income tax to buy my 4 link. For now i'm just buying small parts and the parts to fix my front end. It will be fully bagged soon so the monoleaf will be gone. Last edited by Kiko : 01-04-2009 at 02:13 PM. |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
I've never added or removed leafs so i have no idea. I have seen trucks riding bumpstops with monoleaf and i have seen trucks (Like mine for instance) that aren't even touching the bumpstops. I have the passenger bracket off btu i'm not doing the driverside yet. I'll do it tommorow. ****ing GM welds are a pain to grind off..
If you want the 3" blocks later i'll ship them to you cheap. I was contemplating keeping them and if i ever get a v8 first gen project i could use them on it. |
