Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
My driverside dump valve leaks a little but it is only noticeable after like 8 hours. I can fix ti but i don't feel like pulling the bed. The threads kinda got ****ed up when i was putting on the valve so that's the problem. I may just buy another valve when i buy the ones for the rear. My tank though doesn't leak that i can tell. I leave it at 140psi when i go to bed and when i leave for work it looks like it has 140 maybe 139 in it.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Update: Bought some vacuum line caps and plan to delete the vacuum ball on the passenger side. Also got a dor pin and bushings but i need to get one more pack. That way my driverside door won't have to be slammed as hard as it does to close. Picked up a battery hold-down to. I haven't had one since i bought the truck and i kept putting it off but they are cheap at $2.98 so i should have done it a long time ago. I'm fixing the dents on my roof tommorow after work. I bought some fine grit sandpaper,a block, some bondo, primer, and tape. I already have something to strip the paint around the area and i already have an assortment of spreaders for the bondo. I'll post pics once i get everything popper out, filled, sanded, and primed. I eventually plan to sand and primer the whole truck once i get the dents removed. That way it'll look better AND it will be ready for paint and i won't have to pay a bodyshop to do the dents. Anyway that's all for now. I have to be up at 7:30 to get dressed for work and i work from 8:30 to 5:00 and it's 1:26 right now so i'm going to be really tired tommorow at work considering i'm already like a zombie right now ![]() |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
I forgot how much i hate bondo and how bad i am at it. I got the dent somewhat hammered out but i think i put too much bondo. It's a f'n raised square right now and it looks like shit. I got tired of sanding (By hand) so i primered it in order to go out. I plan to fix it tommorow though. I need to borrow a power sander then i'll get it nice and smooth then re-primer it. Besides not getting it flush eveyrthing worked out well. I just suck at bondo and sanding...
Oh,and i capped off the vaccuum ball line and to be safe i taped it off to make sure the cap can't come off. I'll be tucking the line somewhere else later but for now it's fine. Old drag block ![]() ![]() My '91 and my friend Nick's '91 sonoma (Ext cab) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I definately need to practice my bondo/sanding skills a LOT. I'm taking a break though because i hate bondo and sanding. I'll get around to fixing it later on in the week when i have time. I'm going to get rid of the remaining a/c stuff this afternoon after work. I need to get the shop vac and clean the inside again too.. |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Got the a/c removed. I had to cut the line going from the blowerbox to the evap canister because i couldn't break it free. It looks a lot cleaner now and i can actually get to stuff when i need to repair something. I'll get around to the bondo more later. I need to fix some other dents and stuff but not until i finish getting the bondo on the roof smooth.
Not sure yet what i'll buy this week.. |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Busted my radiator overflow. I also rubbed it with the tire when dragging and wore marks in it that actually match the tire tread
It was leaking out and my radiator was running low so i had to patch it with duct tape for now. I might pull a honda overflow form the junkyard and use it instead. It'll fit way better than the bulky overflow i have now. It'll look much cleaner too.Got my driveshaft tunnel in yesterday ![]() A/c removed. I need to wipe down my chrome though. I hosed off everything and it created spots on my air cleaner that i need to wipe off. Normally it looks cleaner but i didn't have time before work to wipe it down. I barely had enough time to take the photos. ![]() ![]() |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Did some more sanding and body filler finally. I'll get some pics tommorow when i get off work and sand it some more. I need to do one more coat of body filler on a couple spots then sand again otherwise it's ready to be primed in those areas. Once it's all done i might start priming the whole thing.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Picked up a new overflow at the junkyard. I forget what i got it off but it was some import car that i passed by. I bought a honda accord overflow too but decided i liked this one better because it's shaped somewhat normal but it's just smaller. It barely touches the tire but it should be fine. Also sanded the bondo on the right side of the roof by the door where the huge dent was. And i have pics of the other bondo/sanding that i done the other day. I've got to touch up and finish the roof by the door then i can tape off and primer it.
Sanded my door and now it only needs body filler and sanding then i can prime it.. ![]() Fender.. ![]() Small spot on my door... ![]() ![]() And the major dent....the roof ![]() ![]() ![]() The new overflow ![]() ![]() I think i have a before photo of the dent on the right side of the roof to show how bad it was but i don't feel like digging through all of my photos right now. I'll be ordering some stuff this weekend and i'll be doing more sanding and priming tommorow and tuesday. |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Practice. That's all i can say. This is my first time so i kinda did it,messed up,sanded it,then did it all over again until i got it right. Power sanders are a must but you need a block and various sandpaper grits too. I just use 320 for my final sanding and if i really need it smooth my uncle gave me a palm sander with some really fine grit paper that i use.
What i did was take a hammer or anything flat and push/tap out the dent as much a possible without doing it to the point where the dent is now a lump. After that i filled in the low spot (aka the remaining small dent) with bondo and let it dry. Then i sanded and went back over it as needed until it was good then sanded it smooth and level and primed it with body filler primer. My methods aren't exactly the best but they work ![]() |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Drug tonight with some hollow 3/4" tubing i have (13" piece) and it worked fine until it drug through and collapsed then i drug a little transmission. But hey,at least it sparked good for once
My transmission has a tiny hole near the back where the inspection part is but it drove fine. I can't wait until payday so i can buy more primer and a 3/4" bit so i can drill out my skidplate hole and bolt on one of the 3 trailer balls i have waiting. After that i plan to have a NICE drag session down Highway 98 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6C-oajNd9w |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Going shopping for some stuff in a bit. Ordering my bride plates once i get back from cashing my check. I decided just to get basic plates and if i want custom cut ones i can always get them later. (http://www.suicidedoors.com/node/729)
Next thing i buy will hopefully be the notch. After that i still need *Fittings *Valves *Line *Bags *Lower bag mounts (Doing bag over axle) *3 Link Other than that i'm good. I can order the notch cover and everything a week or two after i bag the back. Also i'm going with a new tank instead of this 5 gallon single port. I think i'm just going to go with this one: http://www.suicidedoors.com/node/831 I'll need a couple t's to run my tank gauge off of and connect my compressors but other than that i can just run hex nipples off the tank then attach the valves and line to them. I might also toss on another viair 400 to speed up the time. |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Got hit today on my lunch break. Me and my girlfriend got hurt a little and went to the emergency room but we're fine. I think my truck is totaled. The front bumper is gone, grill, radiator, fenders, hood, and it looks like my frame is tweaked on the left side a little. The cab and everything else is fine and the engine still runs.
I'm going to get it hauled back to my house and i have a hood, fenders, and a pre '91 core support so i'm alright. I need to pick up a radiator and check my frame but i am definately rebuilding it. I love my truck way too much to let it be taken away. I built it so there's no reason i can't RE-build it. Hell,i might even throw a 350 in it later. I might post pics but i don't know if i want to. It upsets me too much to look at pictures right now... |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
She got a ticket at the scene because i made sure to tell the officer how there was NO reason for her to be in the turning lane going that direction because the only available left turn wasn't for a while. It was obvious that she was just cruising down the turning lane to get ahead of traffic so i've been told by numerous people that because of her getting a ticket and me not getting anything that it will be her fault automatically because if it wasn't she wouldn't have gotten the ticket. I'm waiting until i'm given the OK to pick my truck up my the insurance. In fact i may pick it up before then if possible. It's going to cost $150 to have a rollback wrecker go to Theodore,Alabama and tow it home but it's worth it. I've got a hood, fenders, and core support off my '86 blazer that will work. I just need to buy a radiator and maybe a couple other small things. The main thing is getting it home and checking the front of my frame for straightness. If possible i'll have it fixed on a machine but if not i'll just cut off the damaged section and weld on a new piece of frame. It will be fixed though and i plan to drive it daily until i can find a shitty car to drive daily. I'm not taking the chance of my prized truck getting hit again (To some it's not a prize but honestly i cared more about the damage to the truck than the damage to my body when the accident happened) I'll get more up when i have more. I have to get the name of the yard it was hauled to from the wrecker company tommorow. |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
I went by while helping my friend install drop i-beams on his 80's ranger and checked on it and got pics. I'm going to pick it up tommorow and it's costing bout $160 for towing and storage fees then $150 to have it hauled home. When the insurance gives me clearance i plan to strip it down and get to work re-building it. My friend thinks the bed is a littler closer to the cab than it should be but i can't tell form that far. I will definately need to check the front portion of the frame and do some repair.
I'm definately not letting that bitch cost me something i worked so hard on ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

from those pics it looks like there is no gap between the cab and bed.. but it could be the angle.
good luck! |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
There is definately space between it. I walked back and forth trying to get the best view i could and from one angle it looks fine. I don't know how much gap but there is a visible gap from like 10+ feet away. And as far as the "big waste of time and headache"....no,it won't. I have no problem going in and fixing everything. I've seen numerous people do it on the forum and i've seen articles in mini-truckin where people have turned around trucks that have gotten wrecked badly.
I already have some of the stuff *Hood *Fenders *Core support I need to get another radiator but the engine STILL RUNS. I have my work cut out for me but i have good friends who are willing to help and i have connections with welders and mechanics so if i need help it's there. ![]() |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
By the way, here is a comparison of the gap between the bed and cab. Notice that both were taken form about the same angle. The first one is from about a month or two and the other is one i took in the towing place. The gap looks almost identical so if it looks the same from that angle it should look the same from any angle. Plus the fact i seen it in person so i had a much better view than the ones i posted in the photos. It's kinda hard to climb up a chainlink fence with barbed wire and take a picture over all the other cars in the way.
![]() ![]() Also notice that the body line still lines up. Anyway though, that's all for tonight. I'm planning to haul it home tommorow then go to work so i've got to be heading off to bed. Last edited by Kiko : 10-06-2008 at 02:55 AM. |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Yep. I'm getitng close to done with the blazer frame. I need to notch the back and get drop spindles and i'm finished except sanding and painting it.
The insurance won't pay me because even though she was driving down the turning lane which is obviously illegal,i was "supposed" to be in control. The good news is that since the insurance doesn't have to inspect my truck it isn't being deemed totaled. My title won't show anything about it being totaled so i can just rebuild it and have a safety inspection and continue along my way. That bitch is probably thinking how she got me but what she doesn't know is she didn't afterall ![]() |

insurance companys can be bitches about paying out for certain things. its like dealing with a thief sometimes, you just gotta beg them to be nice. that or take control and threaten to switch companys. there are numerous ways of dealing with your insurance co.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Got my truck towed home today. Me and my dad couldn't open the hood so i had to cut the hinge piece with the angle grinder and beat on it with a sledgehammer and my dad had to pry it open with a lead pipe but we managed to get it open. The motor mounts look shot. The engine is sitting sideways a little but the frame looks fine. I have motor mounts i can use btw. My frame is trashed in fornt of the control arms. I can easily have new pieces welded on though and i'll be getting a 2x2 steel bar welded between the frame in the part to insure nothing moves. The bed is also sticking off to the rigth of the cab but nothing looks bent and the frame looks straight under the truck. I was thinking it and another person said the same thing. I believe the bed just shifted over because i only put in 4 of the bolts and i didn't exactly torue them down so more than likely the impact knocked the bed over even though it wasn't hit. The body line is still good though.
I have to replace: *Fenders *Hood *Replaced portion of the frame in front of the control arms *Motor mounts *Radiator *Engine fan (Bent blades) *Fan shroud *Bumper *Core support *Grille *Headlights *Side lights *Bumper lights My front bags are deflated so i may have a cut in them but i'm not sure until i can get everything off so i can reach them to inspect them. i may have to buy two more dominator 2500 bags to replace them. My tanks and everything was under the bed and is fine. My tank still has 120psi too. It's a lot but i have a lot of the parts and the other stuff is fairly priced on ebay. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My dad was really ****in pissed about my insurance company and even more pissed when he started seeing hands on what kind of damage i had. My mom wasn't too happy about the insurance decision either. On the good side though i don't have to go through the hassle of getting a totaled title cleared before i can drive it. Seeing as it's not officially totaled because it wasn't inspected. I got the hood off today and i removed what was left of my grill and i hammered the bunper off after gridnign the bolt heads. I need to get the bottom bolts out that are holding the core support in then remove the fenders. I'll have to check my bags and everything once that's done. I also plan to loosen my bed and inspect everything to make sure i can slide it back in place and this time torque that ****er down. I hope to make fast work of this but i won't have money until next week thanks to the huge amount it cost to get it out of the towing lot and pay the private wrecker i hired to tow it home. |

your box is off to the passenger side pretty far it looks like, and your wheel looks kinda far back. I would look behind the ps spring pocket for damage a kink or other damage.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
I've been on my hands and knees looking under the cab and running my hand along the frame and checking for anything abnormal. I can't find anything. I am waiting until daylight to crawl under the bed (My trucks kinda scares me right now considering i could have died and my g/f too)
My bags still work and my compressor works. My control arms look lines up and my tires look even (Not further back than the other) My passenger front tire is flat so it won't fully raise but the bags fill evenly and the upper arms bottom out against the frame at the same time like before. I can't get the cure support off but since i don't need the bolts (I can buy new ones easier) i'm buying more cutting disks for my angle grinder tommorow and cutting off the nuts and yanking off the core support. Once that's gone the fenders will be next. I'm also aligning the bed tommorow. I will get around to jacking up the engine and replacing the mounts once i get that all done. I'll also measure and cut off the front portion of the frame then go to the junkyard and cut off some unbent ones. I need to buy a '91 or newer core support though so i can run another 1 piece grill when i get done. I'll be posting frequent updates of any rebuilding success. Once it's all back to normal i'll resume my mods. |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
I got the core support off thanks to my angle grinder and i removed the passenger fender. I need to remove the driverside fender and my engine looks like it just got knocked loose so i'm going to try using a ratcheting tow strap and some people to help push form the other side and pull it back to the center and check the motor mounts.
The bed won't line up AND bolt on but that's always been a hassle ever since i bought the truck and put the new bed on it. I plan to pull the bed and inspect everything once i get some more people to lift. I've got pics but i don't feel like uploading them at the moment. I'll post them later once i have them online. |

Glad to hear that you and your girl are alright. I drive from Bay Minette to Mobile every week day for work and people just don't know how to drive. Hope everything goes well finding parts for your truck.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Thanks. Once i pay my wrecker bill i can afford to drive out to barry's and buy a core support and radiator aswell as the portion of the frame that need to be replaced in front of the control arms. I don't know if my power steering pump got messed up but it's right where the frame bent so i might have to buy a new one at advance (Was planning on it before the wreck anyways)
I'm going to see if my girlfriend's dad will let us borrow his silverado one sunday and drive it out to barry's so i can carry my tools out there and put the parts in the bed. If not i don't have another truck except my uncle's and he sleeps a lot because of his job. I just can't wait to atleast get in and crank the engine and have it run again (It runs but it needs to be moved so the fan doens't hit anything and it needs the radiator) I'm just trying to keep positive and stay motivated because i know i can fix it if i just work hard at it |

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]
Was this truck parked at a bicycle shop close to big time diner off of cottage hill. I was heading to a job site a few weeks ago and saw a truck that looked alot like your wrecked one.

Hey, if you can't get your g/fs dads truck, I got my s10 running halfway decent and I'll go up to the junkyard with you.
