Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

You should have gone with Belltechs from Summit....$149 shipped. I got them the next day after I ordered them....summits really good about shipping fast.

Either way, keep up the good work.

That's basically the same as i paid. I just used fbi because i knew their stuff was good and they ship quickly. For performance parts though summit would be the place i'd order from.

Awesome! Can't wait to get them installed.

We're about to get hit by a tropical storm but if it's not too bad sunday i will be removing my bed and getting my muffler welded back on. Tuesday (Let's assume the valves come in then) i will be adding the fittings needed to run my extra front valves and wiring up the valves. I'll drive it bedless and carry a tarp in my truck incase it rains during the week so i can cover my exposed frame while at work. Thursday when i get home my spindles should be waiting on me so i'll be installing them all night after getting home. My friend Nick is supposed to be helping me that day so we'll cut the inners enough to make it lay but still keep dirt out from under my hood. Then sunday i will hopefully be pulling a leaf spring finally to bring the rear down some more until i bag the back.

Not really a good idea being that you only have two springs in the pack. That'll leave you riding on a single leaf spring...kinda dangerous.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

he will be fine, there are a ton of us that have pulled leafs. hell im riding on my 2 longest leafs only with 4 inch blocks, and its perfectly fine, and its my daily. i have about 1.5" between my frame and axle, i have yet to put in my bolt in nocthes and i rarely hit the axle on the frame. but i also have drop shocks in the rear so that helps a ton.

It's not quite as safe as having the normal amount but i know someone who had a isuzu with mono leaf and 3" block. It was insanely low but no problem. It's not going to be for too long anyways. I'm going to start getting the stuff for the rear pretty soon. I just need to get my engine back to normal then i'll start spending pretty much all my spare money on the rear setup.

I might just add a 4" block instead of the 3" but i'd prefer not to pay since it's going to be removed when i bag it anyway

Edit: I will be taking out the middle leaf so i'll have the longest leaf plus the short one left. But i do see your point though.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Got my muffler on but we just used pipe and exhaust clamps. It works but it's not as pretty as welded so i won't bother taking a photo. It sounds nice and it should hold good with the exhaust strapping stuff we used. I'm still putting my valves on this Tuesday if they come in then. Drop spindles are going on Thursday for sure.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Muffler stayed in place good. It moves a little and make squeeking noises at idle but it's all good. Sounds much better even when heavy on the gas. It's louder than stock but it's not loud like before. It also seems like it's faster and has better response now that i've got the muffler back on. I still feel a little pop when getting off the gas but barely.

Waiting on my valves but until then i might clean under the hood and paint some things. Looking to spruce things up a little under the hood soon...

Got fittings and i'm putting on my valves now. I'm running up to the store for teflon tape now but i think all is good. I lost a spring form inside one of my valves but i found it and put it back together and everything works. I've just got to put teflon tape on everything and tighten it down the check for leaks and i think i'm done. I'll post something in a bit.... my head is killing me. All the stress from today is pounding my skull >_<

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Yeah,i do :P

I'm taking a quick break from leak testing (Biggest pain in the ass ever) to eat a late dinner. I got home around 6pm from work and i'm just now stopping long enough to eat which could be the cause of my headache but whatever.

I didn't think i would get the valves on but i figured out a new way to connect it all without having to buy more fittings. I'm just leak testing first,THEN connecting my switches.

Pics soon. I'm almost done leak testing..

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Switches aren't wired like i wanted but i have them wired up so everything works. I had to label them but atleast i know what switch controls what. I'd be pretty startled if i went to lower the whole truck only to have one side drop while driving..

I have one small leak where the driverside dump valve screws onto the 3/8 hex nipple but i'll fix that tommorow aswell as get pics and video. I'm tired of working on it after 8 hours...

Re: My newly acquing low battred truck! =]

I woke up at 11:33am to the sound of a dhl van's horn. The 2" spindles were supposed to be delivered thursday but they were delivered 2 days early. I still won't install them until at least tommorow because i'm tired of working on the truck after 8 hours of installing valves and fittings then wiring up the box. Plus i didn't see my girlfriend at all after work yesterday so i kinda have to go over there this evening plus i want to

My new setup..

And...

I'm going to put wireloom on the wires before i put the back back on this evening but it will be cleaned up later when i switch tanks. I'll get a video later when i get batteries. My camera keeps shutting off saying low battery for some reason..

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

It's hitting the inside of my fenders and the blowerbox. I've got to do something with the blower box and put my windshield fluid reservoir back in tommorow after work. I'll also be cutting my inner fenders and putting them back in it's just i didn't have time to do it today. I did however have time to smash my fingernail into the old spindle while trying to remove the balljoint for the tie rod..

It's not all the way because of it hitting but it should touch skidplate when i fix the issues i mentioned.

Hard to see because of the grass.....

Any zipties you see are temporary until i work on it again. I had to hang stuff out of the way so i can drive tommorow to work.

My plans is to cut the inners to clear then bolt them back in to keep my engine bay nice and clean since i drive it daily. I will be replacing everything to keep it looking as close to stock under there as i can. Also i may try getting a smaller blower box with heat only so it will hopefully clear my tire and let me lay out in front.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Before anyone says something i cut the swaybar because i couldn't loosen the badly rusted bolts. I plan to unbolt it from the frame soon but i just haven't felt like doing so right now.

Skidplate clearance. It'll lay for sure when i get the issues with my tire hitting solved.

Aired out

Inner fender on the driverside cut for clearance. It'll need to be recut when it lays out but for now it's ok but still touches some when aired out.

Yeah....i had to label my switches even though i've always made jokes about people who do

New valves in action finally

I'll have to raise my transmission to clear so it won't hang below the frame but thanks to all the replies i know now how to do it fairly easy. Or i hope so..

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Aired out the right side when passing by someone i knew and forgot abotu the blowerbox....

Got bored last night and painted my oil dipstick red. It'll look good when i pull the valve covers and paint them red too. It's a shitty job btw but c'mon...it's an oil dipstick

Cut my fenders on the inside and beat them in for clearance then grinded any excess leftover. I'll pull the fenders off and grind them smooth and welded everything up so it looks nice but for now it worked and doesn't look too bad (When aired out and the tire blocking it of course.)

Oh,and it lays transmission at the moment. I've still got to raise it so it won't hang below the frame. Once i do that the skidplate will lay.

Next order of business....i'm not sure. I definately would like to start getting part of the stuff for the rear. Next i think i'll get parts to redo my engine valves to fix that problem while saving some money back for the rear bags.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Picked up a new radiator overflow canister. The stock one can't be moved because of stuff under the hood and it hits my tire and prevents me from laying without breaking it. This one cost about $8 at the autoparts store and will be bolted to my core support when i get time. I might go out in a few minutes and do it depending on the weather.

New overflow container that's going in

And how my truck sits right now until the hurricane passes through...

I figure if something hits my truck it'll have to go through my house first...

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Got it bolted in but i couldn't put it where i wanted. It also hits the tire when the hood is closed and i lay it out but it won't break. It just flexes then when i lift it's all fine. At least it does the job though without stopping me from laying out.

I'll figure out something later. I need to remove all of my a/c parts since i don't have a/c anymore.

Re: My newly acquired truck! =]

Thanks

I had my friend Eric (Svtzx555) check my timing and we found out it was retarded by about 9 degrees so we reset it and my throttle response is much better. No more lag in acceleration when i hit the gas. It also runs a little smoother. It still stutters when going up hills and accelerating sometimes. I took out every spark plug and checked the gap and reset them all and found they're pretty fouled.

Eric thinks it's from the timing being retarded and driving it like that not knowing it so by doing so i fouled out my new plugs that i put in way back when i bought the truck. Oh well..

My plans once i get paid Thursday:

6 New spark plugs
Oil & filter change (It needs it because i couldn't get the filter off last time plus i'm a little over)

Tommorow i'll be cleaning and rearranging stuff under my hood since i don't have a/c so things will look neater. I'm also picking up some silicon tommorow so i can put on a new chrome filler neck that Eric gave me. The filler neck is for a smallblock v8 so the neck is a little bigger on the outer diameter but he also gave me a hose that's big on one end so it fits the chrome filler neck but small on the other so it fits properly onto my stock 4.3 radiator.

Now i'll probably go ahead and replace my stock air cleaner with a 14" round edelbrock chrome air cleaner to make things nicer under the hood Thursday while doing my plugs. I'll see if the plugs help and if so then it should be good. If it still burns oil then i may have to also replace some other stuff. If i have to pull the valve covers i'll be spraying them red with high temp paint while they're off. Also if they come off i'll be getting new bolts for them instead of those rusted stock bolts.

Anyway here's pics of the spark plugs i pulled. #1 was the worst.
I started on the driverside front and went from front to back then did the same on the passenger side.

I'll work on the filler neck tommorow probably. I just don't feel like getting silicone right now plus the auto parts store is closed until tommorow morning
