Re: My 'day off' daily driven project.

Ok, I'm posting some pictures for John. I was up there with him this weekend working with him. Got alot done....

First we had to make a mold of all the original stuff.

That was about it for night one. The second day we were working and then greeted by some rain so a pop up and a few tarps took care of that.

we then took the two big pieces and taped them in place before we could start fiberglassing. We also used some spray foam to get the exact shape of the bottom of the grill.

after the foam and some shaping came more glass.

heres what we ended up with kinda. Theres a bit more progress then this, added a grill to the lower middle, but I forgot to get pics of it.. hopefully John can get some up.

Re: My 'day off' daily driven project.

Here it is with the opening fiberglassed in. J

Joe you'll notice I also added a inner lip to the opening. Its just one coat I'll use the cloth later.

BTW, thing might look a little 'off', that is because it's sitting on the metal bumper not pushed all the way on and the sides sticking out further because they are against the side of the bumper and not wrapped around the back like they should be.

Again, just placed there for a quick photo.

Re: My 'day off' daily driven project.

Thanks guys, I was really hoping to have the front done for Carlisle but since I wasn't I didn't bother wasting my time or money going.

I host a show/meet in a few weeks for another forum I'm on and trying to get it ready for that. So besides work, family and getting stuff ready for that show, I've been trying to work on this.

Re: My 'day off' daily driven project.

I think what I completely dislike about it is the headlights. Big headlights with tiny little projectors and then random LEDs just looks awful to me. I also angled my bumper ends to flow with the contour of the headlights better.

I haven't had much progress done on it lately due to having to organize an event this weekend.

Here is a photo of it from this weekend.

My Bad Ta^Guy , I thouhg tthe blue was Yours, I should pay closer attention, Yours is an Ext. Cab Xtreme and the other one was a standard cab.

I like the custom bumper on yours as well. I can see where You're coming from when You're talking about the projectors too.

looks awsome, I like the look of the bumper molded with the body kit. throw some white primer on it though, it would look alot cleaner for the time being.

Re: My 'day off' daily driven project.

Due to having problems with the truck lately I haven't been modding it much.

I still haven't found what was wrong with it so I just take my motorcycle on nice days for now.

This is what I got done yesterday and today.

I had to make a flange for the front headlight. The flange is actually shaped like a backwards 'S', what a paint it was to get the compound curves into it. That is why you see so many cuts into it. I plan on taking off the primer, and welding the seams before I mud it.

No more gap.

Thanks that photo of it on the truck was with a partical skim coat of filler. I have since sanded that down and put a full coat on. I haven't sanded it level yet because I'm waiting for a friend to return my long board inline sander.

Re: My 'day off' daily driven project.

Probably one of my favorite threads on S10 forum. I'm glad you went through and did the front end conversion, it looks great and it's not even done yet. I do have one question however.

How easy are the headlights to be removed and installed again? Like say a rock is kicked up by a truck in front and cracks the housing, will it be easy to remove? In no way am I doubting you because you do amazing work, I'm just wondering if it is easy to put in and take out.
