Just bare metal primer and a rattle can for now. Plan on having it all stripped before final paint anyhow. The bumper was just in primer and removed it after I snapped the photo. I have a copel paint guns and have spray experience with locomotives. I was thinking of picking up that Duplicolor ready to spray crap for some temp color.

That truck is awesome. I can only hope my comes out that clean looking. I've considered sectioning my front bumper like I did the rear but not intergrating it to the body. Like that crackhead Paris Hilton would ay, "Thats Hot".

really? have you checked that thing out in person. the lights look ok, but his grille doesn't really work. like i said i'm planing on doing this, and i've only seen pics of it online. i'm just wondering how well it looks in person. that i'll be doing it with a noma hood, so that itself will make it look better.

Re: My 'day off' daily driven project.

Ok wel I should havehad Sunday and today off but I didn't. Had to cover a shift on Sunday at work when one of my employees had to go to the hospital, and today I had some errands to run so I didnt get much done... Plan on two days worth of work and end up only getting in a few hours. Typical of my luck.

So I started cutting the ends off the bumper to section it so I can make the angle the same as the lights. I also plan on pulling it in closer to the body by about 1.5"s. This also mean the air damn will have to be shortened down the road too.

Its not much but I know you guys love photos so here are a few more.

Re: My 'day off' daily driven project.

Well went shopping this morning, thentook the bike to get it's inspection and came home to work on the truck for a little bit. Here is what got done.
I made pie cuts to remove some material so I could bend the bumper back to flow better with the headlight. Once I'm finished welding the lower seams I will bolt it up, bolt up the ends, and then trim the center peice I removed and weld I back into place.
Cuts.

Clamped.

Almost finished welded. Still have a few spots to touch up after grinding.

Now here is how it looks after...

Here how it looked before. Any better? lol

Re: My 'day off' daily driven project.

Got one side pretty much tacked into place. I have to notch the back side for clearence, then I'll bolt up the bottom and finish welding it.
And no the headlight isn't sagging, that is my templet that I used to protect the headlight while I was tacking the bumper together.

Eh, I wish, but thanks. lol

As yu can see in that corner of the bumper I made the pie cut alot larger than it should have been. Now I need to cut a peice to fill it tomorrow.

Re: My 'day off' daily driven project.

Had a 7 hour meeting for work today but once I got home there was a little more progress was made.

I welded up the bottom side of the sectioned areas, now all I need to do is grind the welds smooth.

Then I will bolt it back onto the truck and work on mounting the grill. I'm hoping not too difficult. It will need some fiberglass work fr the finished product, but right now I want it roughed in so I can finish the bumper and start the hood and fenders.

Re: My 'day off' daily driven project.

Ok well I had to take a step backwards before I moved forward.
I trimmed the grill down so it would fit but once it was in place I realized that my messurements where off by almost 3.4". Between the slight curbe at the bottom of the grill shell, and the higher lip at the back of the bumper I decided to just f**k it and go back and cut it off again.

Removed the bumper and cut more from the frame horns and then sectioned more out of the bumper. The grill is cut but still needs to have brackets made to hold it into place. I clamped it back together, added some tack welds and test fitted it. Even threw the airdamn under it for the full effect.

The airdam isn't bolted on but if you look at the corners you can see how much different the angle is, and over all on the sides it's about a 1" shorter.

My friend was up this weekend working on a fiberglass trunk for his car and talked me into making a fiberglass nose for the truck. Basically we'll make a blank Of the original airdam and modify it where needed. Still debating adding a opening in the front or not.

Here is a photoshop someone from another forum did in MS Paint.

As I stated, I thinK I want a opening on the lower section, but I'm kind of digging the body lines he put in it too.
