Re: Mostizzles dime
HOW THE FCUK DID YOU PAINT YOUR TAILS WITH THAT PAINT. I magically managed to get the driver side perfect but have ruined 2 passenger ones. I'm gonna sand them down and start over. What all did you do to prep them?
And Ryan let me know the next time you get a chance to pick up a dome light cover. |

Re: Mostizzles dime
First I sanded all the DOT numbers off of them then I hit em up with red scotchbrite, washed em with dawn dish soap, let them dry and then painted them. There's a couple different products you can try if you feel inclined to try something different. I think VHT makes a red paint specifically for lenses and there's that metal cast paint that I believe is made by Duplicolor, it's made to paint over metal bare metal and chrome to make it look anodized. I think that's what Brent uses IIRC.

Re: Mostizzles dime
I just used the VHT Red Nightshade yesterday on the tails. Trick is, ONE COAT. I did one coat and it looked good. Then im like "another for good measure"......dull. The coloring is good though.

I did 6 coats lol no issues here.....
I did Wetsand them between the 5th and 6th coat. Then after a week or so of curing fully I wetsanded again and shot them in clear.... Seams like one coat you would risk really screwing things up..... You need to lay down a tack coat first reguardless |

Re: Mostizzles dime
Well I guess I wasnt clear. I did multiple light coats at once. Then I waited 3 hours and layed on another one, after wiping it clean. It came out a bit more dull. OH WELL, it looks decent either way. Much better than using the black nightshades crap, looking like ass.

Wet sand it and shoot with clear.... It won't be dull anymore!
Besides that, if u don't clear it that VHT stuff doesn't go well with winter elements, gotta protect it |

Re: Mostizzles dime
I've used the black Niteshades a lot and can get it to look like glass. I've always done 3 even thin coats for it. Even done a set with the punisher skull in the tint but this stained glass paint is a different animal. I lay down one very thin coat and the shit bubbles the whole lens and dries that a way. Only thing I can think of is the high humidity here.

^it all depends on quility/condition.a complete bed tailgate and all goes for anywhere from $300-$700. The one I got he wanted $700 for it.
Hey,do you still got that extra FE3 emblem? The seller that was selling pairs is out or I can't find anymore? I'm thinking of getting one to take the place of the smarttrac emblem on the tailgate of my '97.all I can find is used now

Re: Mostizzles dime
Fcuk, mines too nice to replace unless I find some epic deal on a stepside. lol I do still have that other emblem right here in front of me. I bought them on ebay from some local butthole that retired from GM or something. I'll try to think of something that I need of equal value and maybe we can work out a trade.
Fixed my hinge pins... ![]() ![]() Acquired some other stuff... ![]()

Exactly! Shits been hanging on a peg in the garage new in the package for a while. It works great I'll tell you that.
Once I take the Nitro 2's off I'll probably give them away if they're still worth a shit, if anyone's interested. |

Re: Mostizzles dime
Hello mostizzle, very nice truck! I have a few questions if you don't mind. I'm going with a 5/7 drop on my newly acquired 1998 ext cab. First off, do you have enough clearance between the notch and axle? Would you suggest a larger notch? Are you using set back plates? Have you needed to modify the carrier bearing placement? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Mostizzles dime
Thanks man, I appreciate it! I was lowered 6" in the back and there was plenty of room with the notch so in theory you should b able to get away with a 7" drop using the bolt in notch, I would run some decent shocks though. I was using set backs when I was 5/6 but it was just to provide another 3/8" of drop and to center the rear wheels in the openings because they axle is mounted a little bit too far forward from the factory on S10 pick ups. Aside from that they're not necessary on long beds and xcabs because of the slip joint in the 2 piece drive shafts. I am running JTR's trans and carrier bearing spacers.

Re: Mostizzles dime
They are pretty neat. They make another style Olds marker light and there's Pontiac ones too.
Finally swapped my shocks out today but I haven't taken it for a spin yet. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Otherwise the jack won't fit... ![]() Decided to change my plugs too. I was going to wait until I got some decent wires but I had the plugs and I was already out there dicking around so I said screw it. Turns out that was a mistake because even though I was trying to be careful to not pull the wires apart the first one I took off the connector stayed on the plug. The wires I have on there are lifetime warranty shits so I just got another set of them for the time being. Plugs look pretty healthy though...

Re: Mostizzles dime
Shitty Duralast poop. I'm going after some Accels eventually I just haven't gotten around to picking them up. When I broke a couple of the old ones I just replaced them under warranty for ziltch.
Pretty big difference in handling with the new shocks though, I'm really happy with them. They were just the thing for the soft leafs. |
