Picked up another stray a few months ago. I bought it to help us move after we sold our house and planned on selling it shortly after. Its in such great shape mechanically I decided to keep it.
The last time I brought a feral truck home my wife named it Mater and it stuck. I bought that one for $300. It had an engine fire after the doofus who owned it tried pouring gas right down the throttle body.
Junkyard engine harness, interior, paint and wheels and I drove it for about a year.
The ONLY drawback to that one was it was a non a/c truck. I came home one day after work drenched in sweat after getting stuck in traffic on a 106 degree day in July. I was so frustrated I put it on Craigslist and it sold in a day before I could even change my mind.
Fast forward to Feb. of this year and we're looking at selling our house. I saw this one on a Facebook group post for sale and I noticed it was a Sonoma SLE so it was all power, tilt, a/c, ps etc..
Windows had been busted years ago but it ran good, the interior was HORRIBLE.
First things I did was fix the windows.
I plan on doing painting it black so while it was one I painted the window channel. One less thing to worry about later.
$30 at the U pull it and I came home with a wheel barrow full of goodies.
Gutted the interior to clean/sanitize it. I literally vacuumed an entire 5 gallon buckets worth of sand and debris out of it.
Dyed the plastics charcoal.
Re wrapped the headliner
Filled in the dash cracks with epoxy, sanded smooth and vinyl wrapped it.
