Re: Her Name, is Circa. 5.3/t56 swap (56k warning)
haha, sounds like you're in college and you're trying to drive your truckbefore you have to go to school. I know the feeling, I really wanted to get it driving this summer, but I would rather do it right.
The truck arm is not a bad setup, it just leaves alot on the table that you could have with a 3link, torque arm, or satchell link. Unless you are planning on trailering your rig to california to have them install it, you're gonna need to do some welding. If you're doing welding, then you may as well go all out and make a better suspension. If you are set on a truckarm, stock car products and coleman both have prefab truckarms, weight jacks, panhard bars/mounts, and crossmembers, just weld them in and you're ready to go. HTH charges an exorbitant price for their stuff. And their website has some ridiculous claims, lots of information that is biased to make you think that the truckarm is the most awesome setup in the world. It's not. Nascar uses it cause they're required to use it. It first appeared in 67 chevy trucks, and HTH is selling you the same shit. I'm not saying you're gonna be disappointed by the truckarm setup, just that there's better stuff out there. Jerome Last edited by ljjjrome : 07-13-2007 at 06:36 PM. |

Re: Her Name, is Circa. 5.3/t56 swap (56k warning)
I get asked the "why are you doing this?" question all the time.
They just don't understand. "Why are you painting your sway bars? Nobody will see those under the car." ~ Really? cause I see them every day.... without getting under the car. |

Re: Her Name, is Circa. 5.3/t56 swap (56k warning)
I hear ya, waiting for parts sucks ass. I've been waiting for ATS spindles for 2.5 months, all sorts of shit is backordered and I can't get it. I finished all the bracketry and sent my rearend to get welded by this welder up in Kent. real good guy, except he can't get to it for another 2 weeks.
circa, how do you plan on narrowing the frame? tubs are only HALF the equation unfortunately. I thought about narrowing it but decided 275mm was wide enough. I know you're only joking about dying with your rig, but seriously, a rollbar is veeeerrry cheap insurance. You could just do a main hoop and door bars, would let you mount a harness, protect you from crazy old women t-boning you, and protect your noggin in the event of a rollover. Also makes your truck a little stiffer. also, do you mind explaining why you went with 3.50s? To really use the 6th gear of the T56 you really should have 4.10. take a look at the megasquirt if you are good with computers and electronics. MUCH cheaper. good luck with that rear suspension should be really stable when you get it done. check out muscle motorsports and dave jensen. They have used nascar truckarms for cheap that you could probably put to good use. |

Re: Her Name, is Circa. 5.3/t56 swap (56k warning)
going with 3.50 because i want it geared as close to the vette as possible... and 3.25 is too high. after engine upgrades first gear should carry out to about 50-55 ...i wanted 60
was looking at megasquirt also but fast seems more appealing cut and weld... the tub will be a B1tch. |

Re: Her Name, is Circa. 5.3/t56 swap (56k warning)
I got my axle housing 3rd member shafts and brakes... gotta paint the housing
ill get pics sometime or something anyways... Someone slashed my rear right tire. I think it was a "friend" most likely someone jealous of me and what im doing... people dont like people who can drop K's into something like its nothing... oh well as long as they dont touch the 3 grand worth of front suspension im ok. |
