Re: Her Name, is Circa. 5.3/t56 swap (56k warning)

so my idea on installing the coilovers worked, completely differnt from Spohn's instructions.... hopefully its right lol... spring is in the pocket correctly witht he spring isolator.

one problem i see is that the spring is about 1/8th or 1/4 from the frame and i hope it doesnt hit at any given point hopefully when there is weight it will move out

anyways here are pics of coilovers upper and lower installed...

as you can see i skipped a few sprays but its no big deal its a newer truck (comparing it to old rat rod frames) shouldnt have rust issues for yearrrrrss

now to take a break and work on the spindles!

Re: Her Name, is Circa. 5.3/t56 swap (56k warning)

stripped a ball joint

might need some weight to get those bad boys in... maybe its because they are drop spindles but that sh*t wont fit.

So if you go through Global West for Upper A Arms...replace the ball joints.

got spindles on and getting the steering linkages ready

Im eating lunch afterwards ill finish up the steering get the torsion bar in then work on the wheel bearings and rotors to get it on the ground! wooo

fun day! alot of cursing though...

Re: Her Name, is Circa. 5.3/t56 swap (56k warning)

got new sleeves... links are in place but im having a hard time getting them to connect to the steering box arm...

took about an hour to hunt down the sleeves, was running all over town and traffic here is horrible, about 30 minutes for a 5 mile drive

Re: Her Name, is Circa. 5.3/t56 swap (56k warning)

Torison Bar they screwed me over with... they gave me 4 washers when i need 8... it looks like the bushing wont fit in the "U" Housing and it also looks as if its two short to actually fit.

^^ I'll find out whenever I can about the problems...

no other problems...front suspension is nearly complete..I just hope it stands up to my torture since it is me doing the work not some "professional"

when i have a free night i'll put the steering shaft back on and see how the links move.

I think im forgeting stuff...

Re: Her Name, is Circa. 5.3/t56 swap (56k warning)

suspension holds up to me jumping on it... just need the torision bar figured out
front almost done...then i have to pull the cab off to sand and paint and do the body bushings

then its time to do the rear! wooo! another 3-4 grand(if not more) in one spot
then motor/tranny/driveline mounting
electronics should be fun :>
interior should be a blast too... kidding I hate the dash. too many bolts.

who doesnt go topless in the rain?
should just waterproof the inside and do a few shower drains in front of each seat
so you get no puddles :>

my jeep had puddles with the old top... and after a rain it would make a puddle on the roof... open the door shut it and it would seep through a hole and pour on you when you got inside
thank god we got a new top for it!

Looking good, man! Just be practical about it! 300-500 Hp in a dime is more then enough, you'll barely be able to get traction, haha! But keep us posted!

He needs to wise up. It's no Typhoon and you're offering considerably over the value that KBB states.

Nice work so far Sucks about the oil pan, but hopefully everything else will work out well for ya!

Re: Her Name, is Circa. 5.3/t56 swap (56k warning)

hey, sweet truck, just saw this thread today. I live in gig harbor, and I'm building a similar truck, and I'm in stuck in almost the same place as you. I'm waiting for a transmission and for the front suspension.

here's some pics and details about my truck
http://www.fquick.com/garages/viewvehicle.php?id=6101

all the v8s10's in the area should meet up sometime, but none of are done it seems haha

as for the rear suspension, if you are not afraid of a little fabrication, and you aren't gonna run anything over a 315, then you can make a nice setup yourself. weld frame mount to your rails, and tabs to the rearend. run a crossmember for the coilovers. if you're looking for handling, then that's a different story, you're gonna need something other than your average 4link.

Re: Her Name, is Circa. 5.3/t56 swap (56k warning)

i want 310's ish
might just go with the Autoweld weld in rear 4link clip
ill talk to fatmanfab to see about the wonderbar suspension see if i can do that...but its only rated for cars with UNDER 500hp we can work aroudn that though

nice frame i like your wheels

i tried to put my sway bar on... im thinking with no weight the holes wont line up to put the bolts in the lower control arms...that or its a piece of shizz that needs to be returned for a better sway bar.
