Most wouldn't haha, Hell he didn't even want it with a blown motor. I wanted to build a SOHC Vtec motor forever, Always loved the underdog haha. So this is my practice build before mine goes under the knife for very similar additions

Re: Got the wifey a project... not an s series..

Well. Wasn't going to order any parts for the next few weeks, lol. Waaaaaaas going to wait to save up some more to maybe get more parts at once. But all is well. Decided to go ahead and order the crankshaft today. OEM Honda, Couldn't pass it up for $200.00 New Im pulling this crank out this weekend. Once its out I'm going to take the block to the machine shop and have it all checked out and honed etc etc... Once the block gets back I'll more than likely have the head apart and ready for the hot tank then machinist for some more work Looks like I'm going to get a cam for this beast too. Comp Cams and Springs/ Titanium retainers.... This thing is going to scream!!!

Re: Got the wifey a project... not an s series..

not sure of the specs for the comp cam, but i can vouch for the BisiMoto cam. still havent done proper tuning, and its got a noticable amout more get up. i have the level 2 bisi cam, but its also offered in a level 2 nitrous and turbo, 3 nitrous and turb and n/a and then the full race in the same 3 specs. i think i only paid like 180 for my cam shipped, but i could be wrong on the price.

and yes. most parts for hondas are dirt cheap. its practically the same as building a sbc, just cheaper because you dont have to buy as much of everything(other than valvetrain components)

Re: Got the wifey a project... not an s series..

Eh....... Expensive?? nah. Pistons are gonna run me around $400.00, Rods about the same. ARP kit about $200.00, Valves train about... 6-700.00 Turbo kit is cheap. Im anticipating laying down about $3500.00 for this engine rebuild. After everything is said and done machining and balancing etc.

Re: Got the wifey a project... not an s series..

hell of a better platform than an s10. but thats just my opinion. you really cant beat a hatchback. 30+mpg, plenty of interior room, and with a few minor mods and a proper tune, they'll let you know what the back of your seat feels like

Re: Got the wifey a project... not an s series..

Haha, yea. Most Honda drivers think after an intake and a muffler they're going fast lol. Luckily for me, that's not the case. This car should be somewhere in the low 300 HP range after it's properly tuned. Everything is getting done to this motor. Going for an extremely reliable daily that can smash on almostanything it runs into on the street. My wife loves going fast lol. Ordered the chip Kit for her ecu yesterday. Crank will be here Wednesday. Once that's here the block goes to the machine shop to make sure it's trued. if it's not, then and only then will the block get bored .020 over. we shall see what happens.

Re: Got the wifey a project... not an s series..

Hondas are very good cars. A lot of people bash them because they automatically see what kids do to them and if ruins it. But if you want long lasting and efficient, that's the way to go.

I wasn't trying to start an import-vs.-S10 flame. I just wanted to poke fun at the kids that think an "H" on the hood automatically means invincible.

I like Hondas, and I like this dude's project.

S'all good lol. I don't think anyone is thinking flame.

Didn't get anything done on the motor this weekend. Fixed my civic's timing belt tensioner in the freezing cold. Was snowing today most the day.

i wasnt attempting to flame, especially not at you. obviously that was a joking post. i was more directed at 01bluezq8. i just get tired of people generalizing drivers of certain vehicles, and i thought that's where that was going. apologies to all involved

Meh, not sure if I would consider a Unibody vehicle over a body-on-frame vehicle as a better platform....as there is none.

Hondas have their virtues but I'd much rather drive a truck imo.

Yup, and they preform better, are notably lighter/stiffer and are easier to work on then their full framed predecessors.

I was just making a joke. lol. There is no full platform under a unibody, yes. It was just a terrible joke.

Re: Got the wifey a project... not an s series..

Ranger was a buddy of mines. He blew the 4.0 so it was at my house while I swapped the motor for him. Its on 3/4ton full widths. Nothing spectacular. Wheels alright for what its bulkiness.

No sound clip lol. Her block left to the machine shop yesterday to get checked. He is a buddy of mine so I probably wont hear back from him for a while, buuuuut the work is free as long as I dont have a time frame lol. I have her new crank chillin at the house. No other new parts ordered for hers yet. I focused on getting mine on the road the last few weeks. I threw her wheels on my 4dr cuz her tires were better. My wheels look killer on her car and she has begged me since to let her keep em....... F that hahahaha they're mine! Got my GSR leather front seats mounted in my 4dr too!

Yes the car will be repainted and all body work done. Its going to be a root beer brown pearl. Her favorite color so its only right! Soon as my 4dr is smogged Im ordering engine parts for hers. I picked up the rear disc conversion for mine. Scored at the wreckers found a set of drilled and slotted rear rotors for my car. Media blasted em and turned them they came out new again!

Sorry for the lack of updates, with the holidays we've been focusing our money on the kids. Now that thats over back to work!! haha Oh almost forogt. Ordering aluminum rear lower arms for my 4dr too! but shhhhhh she doesnt know that ahaha

Re: Got the wifey a project... not an s series..

Well, Figured with the nice weather this week and being as the block is still at the machine shop. why not start cleaning up the engine bay.... started doing a semi tuck on the harness. got the driver side headlight harness done, and the hood cable done. Started cleaning inside the fender wells and the engine bay etc etc. only to come across bondo..... A lot of bondo lol. Someone started smoothing this engine bay at some point and whoever did..... did not know what they were doing. So yay for me I get to undo and re do everything they did. Oh well, nothing better to do and at least I know it will be done right this time round... So anyway onto the passenger side, My son and I were pressure washing inner wheel wells and came across more bondo, and no thats not all... also came across a grossly welded cut line where someone "fixed" the front end? This car has a clear title so I dont know wtf? So on top of re doing all the body filler, I now get the pleasure of grinding off all the sh*t tastic welds and re weld everything. Its awful....

Also.... haha the wiring... omg the headlight wiring is ridiculous, almost every plug has been cut somewhere and re connected with butt connectors...

Re: Got the wifey a project... not an s series..

Already started grinding down those bs welds and going to re weld everything up front this weekend. Pics look bad and in person it looks bad but it isnt terrible. No big deal to fix. Picking up the turbo for it this weekend.
