Plans are to clean it up right now and do some tune-up stuff, and solve a small over-heating issue. After that i intend to put a mild lift on,and some 30's. Nothing too crazy,as i want a fairly simple truck.
Have you checked Craigslist? They got a '01 long bed on 22" wheels for $2,800. Im gonna go look at it Saturday after work if he still has it.if he didnt trim the bed to make them clear and will go down to about 2,000 I may get it. can your truck tuck 22"s? you know that'll be the first thing I undo!
I can't lay out all the way on them without re-working suspension, but it's possible. I could also go with a smaller tire. I will have to check right now to see my current overall size.
It's gone now!!! It's come and gone twice before so...we'll see.between all my trucks at my house and dads I have no long beds!! Gotta get one! I love those things slammed!
I looked it up. The wheels looked ok. No ugly blade crap or anything. I would probably run them on the '91,but keep my 18's aswell. I can't recall what size tire i have on it,but i think it's 26.7" max. So i'd need a tire on the 22's that would be that size or a hair smaller.
The last time that truck was listed it had some white 20"s on it.they looked good.i just think chrome is ugly.oh well...I didn't like the powertrain anyways.2.2 auto sucks especially on something like that.I really want a 4.3 long bed to haul with.
Afterwork i decided to hit up a local offroad trail. I went solo cause nobody else was available, and prayed i didn't get stuck (No winch yet. I have a tow-strap but useless without another truck.) I didn't get stuck, and i got it rather muddy. Was awesome until i came upon a section of pure mud, that had tire tracks 6-12" deep that i knew there was no-way in hell i'd make it through without bottoming out and getting stuck,so i had to turn around. Next time i'll plow through it as long as i have another truck to drag me out
Not the one that made me turn around.. i didn't get a picture. This was the beginning of the trail
*******!! lol! Man,I'm trying to stay away from the offroad scene. It's too expensive, lol. I got a green,'99 Xcab,4x4 at my dads that's pretty ragged out.I planned to dismantle it in the future.I may just get it going and join ya! too bad I sold my lift kit to another member last summer. My wife's blazer used to be lifted on 31x10.50s when it was mine.it was only for looks.its always been a pavement princess though. MY ZR5 is 4x4 but,I won't drive it in the rain let alone in dirt or mud!! I like my trucks underbelly to be clean.
You don't really need too much of a lift. You could probably make it through in a stock 4wd. I've been offroading with people but this was my first time on my own and it's ****ing awesome! I was careful not to go too cray and break stuff though.
I've done it too but,mud riding killed my gladiator back when I was your age!
lol,IDK if you even know what a Gladiator is? I don't mean Russell Crow or Andy Whitfield! I forget your only a few years older than your truck, lol.
Seriously to do it right and have fun you got to take risks.not safety for yourself or others but,you gotta put your truck out there once in a while.
I'll tell ya what.if its not just a passing thing I'll tow the green truck to my house and get on it after I'm done with the Sonoma and the white standard cab.the green truck needs an engine but,I've got several good 4.3s laying around and only $400 in it.so,worst case scenario I get it too fcuked up I burn it to the frame and leave it in the woods
Not a passing thing. I intend to drive mostly on road, but i had intentions of offroading when i bought this truck.
New radio and trim piece installed. Took forever cause i had to strip and connect each wire. Not to mention figure out which wire went where cause the colors didn't match. Luckily a friend was at the apartments and helped a bunch.
makes me miss my old lifted 2wd 1st gen. but i got a zr2 now so no looking back i guess. what are you going to use for lift springs up front? i would not go higher then 2" imo cause ride quality moogs are plenty good for dirt cheap and you can get them from autozone. i cant remember the P/N off top of my head i think its like 4664. dick cepeck also has a 2" spring pretty cheap also. i paid like $60 for my moogs when i had my first gen also.
i had moogs and aim 3" spindles on mine with shackle in the back ill see if i can find a pic for you.
Cool. I've seen those pictures somewhere before. I'm going with ebay spindles, and i had planned to use aim coils. I'll look at the moog coils though. If they really give 2" lift for $60-ish,that's awesome. The aim ones are around $156.
Painted the grill, even though it's busted up. I figure it's gonna get broken probably offroad,so why replace it. Just wanted to make it match the bumper. Chrome = no way (On this truck)
I would actually do that, now that you mention it. The truck needs atleast 5" more and bigger tires before it would look right though. It looks too stock right now.

I finally had a chance to inspect my a/c. It stopped blowing after using it for the first time. I thought it was the motor so i hooked up an old one and nothing. Checked the fuse, and somehow it had popped the fuse. Fixed that and bam..a/c that blows, even though it needs freon. I need to get it filled, and fix the dash vents. I only get floor and defrost right now which does nothing. I need air blowing right on me when it's 90+ degrees or it's useless.....
I'm not sure how much i can get tow hooks for at the u-pull it,or if they even have any. Worth a shot i suppose. I can make do with just one on the rear for now,but eventually going to run two in front, and two in the rear

Will be a while on the flag, but we'll see. I drove my bagged truck to work today (Felt so wierd) and it hit me,since it's not my daily driver, but is tagged/insured,why not put a v8 into it instead of buying a luv? Then i could actually cruise in it some and not have to trailer it everywhere (couldnt afford tag/insurance on the luv)
I'm gonna wait a little. First i want to get the front of this truck lifted 3 inches, then i can safely spend money on the other truck. If i do the swap,i'm going to keep fuel injection. It'll look fairly stock when i'm done. 350V8 + 5 speed manual = awesome! Could get a spare set of 18's for it,and mount slicks on them for the drag track. Just switch out the rears once i got there.
For now though,i'm working on christmas shopping for my girlfriend (Actually getting started early for once!)
Yup. Gives me 6 months to rack up a bunch of gifts. I'll have almost all of mine wrapped, before most people even start. I'm usually the guy who's just started shopping,a week before christmas and running around like a madman.
Did a little work, but not much really. I'm trying to hold off on buying parts, until i have the spindles and brake lines. Fixed my driver-side window track. The glass would fall forward when you tried to roll it down, and it would work fine if you held it with the other hand, but when rolled down,it would rattle like a mofo. Tried connecting the wires to my rearview mirror for my interior lights too....but found out why they cut them. The stupid switches won't turn the lights off. Looks like i'll be robbing a s10 of it's mirror eventually. Also found a old dufflebag in my closet, and started on my offroad kit to keep behind my seat. Yeah.... I'm pretty bored tonight
Aside from that, just went off on the trail earlier. Managed to get my rear tires stuck in a mudhole finally, but with a unknown offroad guy behind me to witness my stupidity.. I was able to get out in reverse though, but spun tires the whole way. Trying to establish some connections with offroad guys here,so i finally have someone to go with. I'm tired of always wheeling solo
