Gas Saving Beatrice

Hello all....shes a beat up old lady but i love her to death. Its a 1991 s10 w/ 2.5L E code 5-speed. Ive dreamed of putting a v8 in it since i bought my first s10 in HS. Now with gas prices ridiculous and i going back to school for two more majors i don't have enough money for a v8.
Heres a few plans....
-Z28 Camaro rims (powder coated black w/ red lip)
-new bumper with fog lights
-Drop it 4 in the front and 3 in the rear
-Bucket seats
-New door panels
-Custom center console w/ cd player
-Midnight blue from hot rod flatz
-LED red lights in the dash
-3in exhaust
-Blazer rear bumper

...and anything else i can think of along the way.

Heres what she looked like when i got her

Re: Gas Saving Beatrice

ya the paint shows its true gm force. The roof is surface rust over primer and the hoods clear coat has begun to peel along with the passenger side of the bed. I just took a good enough picture that you can't see in. And recently got backed into by a van when i was on a job...So its not as solid... i had to weld y bumper brackets back on.

Need to paint that bumper & install it. You are doing what eveyone here has done. Just a little at a time when you can afford it. It looks good.

Re: Gas Saving Beatrice

-Z28 Camaro rims (powder coated black w/ red lip) ?

Sounds hideous on a blue truck dude, not a fan of the flamin seat covers either, straight buckets would look better IMO.

The grenade is cool though.

Well, I hope its not hideous. We'll just have to wait and see.

The seat covers are to cover the ugly buckets underneath. So hopefully its a temporary thing.

Thanks, It took forever to cut the grenade out of tape and tint the lights.

Re: Gas Saving Beatrice

Yeah the grenade is fresh, I thought you just had a sticker or something and sprayed over it but since you went all custom on it you get even more props.

LOL. Thanks. it was a longer process than i wanted. I got a pineapple grenade from the army surplus and thought it would be a good shifter knob. And then saw someone on the using that model car window tint and it just came to me. I was really impressed at how it came out. I didn't think it was gonna work out as well as it did.

Re: Gas Saving Beatrice

Ok, so earlier in the week i found a pineapple grenade at the army surplus trying to get a new sleeping bag and i am planning on using it as my shifter. I'll post pics tomorrow.

No pics but so far i disassembled the grenade, took the stock shifter knob off cut it open for the insert. JB welded the insert into the bottom of the grenade, painted all but the grenade(the pin, detinator, and what-not) Gotta wait 16 hours for the JB weld to be completely healed and i will paint it and post pics.

Also bought a chip from TBICHIPS that should come in in the next couple days.

Pics tomorrow!!!!!!!

Re: Gas Saving Beatrice

Last update before i go finish up a job. Got a chip from TBICHIPS and im very impressed with it. Granted the 2.5L doesn't have much but with gas so high i'll just keep doing stuff to improve my mileage. Ive got 1-3MPG extra with it and i can pass with ease in fifth and i don't have to be going down hill!!!! ya!!

Hope you like the updates. I sure do! Ill post pictures of the bumper soon
