Re: Esten. Then & Now
Yeah, I'm doing all this myself with some help from my husband. But I'm trying to learn all I can so I'm not going to let him do much. As for the 4.3, yeah I'm completely overhauling it. I've got a thread started on it. I'm not really nervous about it, though. My husband has built motors before, and I've got some knowledge. I'm going to have dual exhaust and it's probably going to come out the side, bedind the doors. |

For those of you who have asked, I surrender. If you go to my profile, and look @ the albums, I'll put up some pix of myself. Check out the other vehicles album too. Might find something you like..

Re: Esten. Then & Now
Nice truck.I also have a '97. I like what you've done to it so far.I wouldn't recommend converting it to carburated tho.the 96-97 trucks are the easiest to convert to 2.2-4.3 or automatic-manual. you can get all your electronics from a blazer and it's all plug&play.they are completely modular.it would actually be less expensive and yield better end results.I have a little experience in similar swaps in the past.I could explain in more detail if your interested on how to go about it.

Considering there's a 3" lift on the rear.. It sags because dad had a tool box in the back for 3+ years.

Re: Esten. Then & Now
A 2/3 drop is a good place to start. 2" spindles and 3" blocks. You keep your stock springs, leafs, and shocks so you keep your factory ride quality. When you want to go lower you just add drop coils, drop shocks, drop leafs, and shorter blocks if needed.

Re: Esten. Then & Now
Started tearing the engine down a little more today. Had anti freeze in all 4 cylinders...[pic above] And I tore the front end down just a little. More to do Wednesday. Work gets in the way so much. But took a look at the head... #3 plug always had anti freeze. So I'm thinking that's where the crack is gonna be. I'll have to take a closer look tomorrow when pulling the plugs out.
![]() Here's #3. It's the only one with white shit around the plug, and plus valve looks burnt.

Yeah I had a 2.2 in mine and pulled 5 heads at scrap yards. "All cracked"
Reman ones look like crap with the big gobby welds. So I bought a new one from the dealership. Shortly after she was running again. I decided to do a v8 swap. Sold the 4 banger combo for $500. Still in the process of my build. Just got lazy for a while. Cleaning out the garage so I can get back at it. Sent from my iPhone using AG Free |

Re: Esten. Then & Now
As for updates, the latest I've got is 1. Pulling the motor 2. Dropping the transmission [literally..] 3. Making a M E S S 4. Pushing the truck around the yard like an idiot... 5. Figure out that my transmission is out of a junkyard. Which explains A LOT. Recent pix. ![]()

What's up guys? I just bought a new engine fo4 the S10. I ditched the 4.3 build, started to go with a 350 but as of right now. I've got a 383 stroker for the truck. Pictures when it arrives!
