I sprayed it off to get all of the dust out of it that has been collecting for a couple months since I got it and started tearing it down. I dryed it off completely before putting it on the trailer. It did not get any rust due to spraying it off because I dryed it imediately.

I'm thinking about it. The body is wavy as hell all the way down both sides, so I may just leave it and straighten it when I have time little by little. Then clear it for when I take it to shows so I don't have to scrub rusty fingerprints off.

I have a friend that has been doing paint for around 10 years, he should be able to help me out. It is just an idea right now, I'll figure it out if I actually decide to go with it.

That is a member of my club. I believe his is stock floored, but I dunno, never looked at it that close. His entire frame is candy orange with alot of heavy flake, his motor is all chromed out, interior is all glassed and painted, bed is molded shut on the back and top. I only took one pic of it.

20's with no tires and 7 inches wide may fit.
I'll have to measure exactly how much room I have.

Re: Bodydropped 78 Chevy LUV...

It has factory airride, I took the bumpstops out on the driver side front, it layed another inch and a half or so, I cut the rear drivers side bumpstop and it layed about another inch or so, after draggin the exhaust alot at showfest it layed a little more in the rear. I'll be doing the same thing to the passenger side bumpstops sometime this week. I have to disconnect two levers to allow it to lay out, but it only takes a minute or so. I shaved the corner lights on all 4 corners and the antenna. I did not have time to put all of the molding back on before the show, but it looks alot better with it on. I'll get better pics of it after I go pick it up from Shreveport Louisianna on Wednesday. I had a blowout on the highway and lost one of the hubcaps on the way home. The spare that came with the car had a crappy tire on it so I took it out of the trunk to make room before going to the show. It is at a club members moms house so it is safe. I may start a new thread here for it sometime. I don't want to spend tooo much time working on it because the luv needs to get alot of attention.

HOK makes a product called Adherto (AP-01) a clear adhesion promoter that can be applied to bare metal and cleared over.

Sweetness. I love any old car that has minitruck-style mods on it. I still can't believe how much bondo was on that thing. I'm surprised the guy didn't try to uni-body the thing with bondo. Hell, why even "BD" the thing? Just start addin bondo to the rockers, eventually you'll get there

I have to get my blazer back together soon so I can get rid of it, and get the interior out of the mercedes so I can get it redone. So I should have an update on the luv pretty soon, just have to clean out the bed and cab and get back to work on it.

Re: Bodydropped 78 Chevy LUV...

mad props on taking the luv out to shows. some people think the only reason to show is to get a 10 dollar trophy. don't get me wrong, taking your class is cool (and the one off trophies are badass at some of the shows) but just going and taking your ride is most of the fun. you still lookin for a donor truck???

Re: Bodydropped 78 Chevy LUV...

I agree about shows.

I'm not looking for a donor truck anymore. I'm going to work on all of the body as much as possible and get it the way I want it before worrying about a motor. I'm most likely going to do patch panels in the areas that are really bad so everything is still origional to the truck for the most part. I'm planning on taking the bed back off, and the cab off to work on the undersides so I can get rid of pretty much all of the rust. I'm going to do alot more than I origionally planned so I'm taking my time planning out alot of the stuff to do in stages, and feeling like i actually got something done when I work on it. I should have another update in a week or so. I have to get the blazer back together this week, and do a few things to the mercedes, and get the rest of the small things done that I have going on for other people right now.
