Thanks.
I'm going to get the bed level and move it back a little so it actually has a little gap between the bed and the cab.

I wish. I have been working on the Blazer and other peoples rides a little. I'm selling my Blazer pretty soon because I'm getting something else to drive daily, so I'm fixing alot of things on it.

Re: Bodydropped 78 Chevy LUV...

Time for an update FINALLY!!!
The dust pile from the passenger door, a little strip on the bed, some of the cab behind the door, and some of the fender...

Bed is done minus the small area above the body line...

Showing the door and fender...

Put one of the spare 275/35/18 tires next to the bed to show how much room I don't have...

Showing that the back of the cab lays...

And the front does not. Until I raise the transmission crossmember...

Side shot. You can see some of the lumps and bumps in the metal...

I'm going to shim it it, shave the whole back end over again with no taillights, straighten the bedsides, get the floor and all of the inside down to metal, and take it to a show all in primer and smooth in less than a month.

so what is the plan to fit bigger wheels in there? The way the frame is stuck clear out there, it doesnt look too promising.

I'm cutting the frame off just behind the cab and redoing it, in a little while when I get to it. It is pretty messed up already, I just posted pics of the tires next to it to show how little room there is.

If there is something I run into that I do not know how to do I learn and get it done. I have been doing body work for a few years.

Re: Bodydropped 78 Chevy LUV...

Just read and viewed the post from begining till now. Wow. Giving me inspiration man. I just bought my first S-10. 82 to be exact. Was nice and straight until two days before I bought it. Someone came to test drive it and the e-brake didn't work. It rolled away from him, into a stump and on into a pond. Crappy....it was so straight before. Now the bed is crunched on the back drivers side. And of course the guy didn't want to buy it after it went in the pond. So I got it. Nice discount for the damage too!

Re: Bodydropped 78 Chevy LUV...

I may go work on it more tonight, but if not this is all you get...
Worked on the fender for about 2 minutes...

Cut the cab vents out...

Finally took the exhaust off...

I started working on making it lay level. I got it pretty close, but I have to cut a little out of the frame, and move the bag mounts to have more room so the bag is not rubbing. I'll post pics of the brackets when I start taking them out and redoing them.

It is really light with the interior stripped and no motor. It actually does not lay all the way right now with no weight in the front, I'll be working on that this week.

Twisted wire wheel on a grinder. It takes about as long as a sanding disk, but does not heat it up as much, and leaves a much nicer finish.

Thanks alot. All of the positive comments really help alot. This is not a project that is being rushed or not well thought out by any means. I'll continue to post updates as I have from the beginning until the end. If there is an end.
I just hope I have the few things done I plan to have done by the show in less than a month.

Re: Bodydropped 78 Chevy LUV...

Fender done minus a small section on the front bottom corner...

Finished the cab minus the lower half of the area surrounding the rear window...

About how much lift I hope to get after redoing the front setup...

Fenders...

Wiper cowl down ready to have the ribs cut out and a filler made for it...

Started cleaning up the trans I'm throwing in it behind the spare 2.8l I have for weight and looks for a few shows until I decide on a motor to go with...

Re: Bodydropped 78 Chevy LUV...

Someone stole my bed today...

I got bored and decided to take it off today, Noone was around so I took it off myself. It is beat to hell and I plan on getting a new one so I did not care if it warped the bedsides sitting it the way it is...

The bed with it's huge hole with nothing in it finally...

The reverse 4 link that will be replaced sometime after Dustoff...

I started cleaning up alot of the frame and removing some wiring after I took this pic, this is to show what it looked like before...

After removing the license platre bracket and grinding it down and cleaning up a little on the metal...

I get bored and waste time I guess. I want to backhalf it because the frame is a little warped from the person that did the notch. I guess when I tear into the rear suspension I'll decide what I am going to do.

Oh man thats one hell of a project you got going there. I'm about to dig into a project of a similar scale, except instead of gallons of bondo, I'll be dealing with 53 years of rust (52 Packard Hearse). I'm thinking that since my floorpans are completely gone, and I'm going to have to build a completely new floor anyway, I might body drop it while I'm at it. Anyways, if I ever catch ya at a show, I definitely owe ya a beer...

Are you going to Dustoff???
I should have the truck there at least in primer and have a few things done to it more than now.
I'm either doing some kind of old courrier, old school bus, or somekind of old panel for the next project. But that will be a ways away. I'm buying another vehicle in the next week or two that will take some of my time to get to the point I like it. It is all factory right now and with a few small things will be a nice vehicle to cruise/ show.

I took the poppers off and instead of having to reach inside the door and unlatch it because the handles on the inside and outside were removed, I took the latches off so they open freely. I tape them back whenever I get in it or out of it. The truck is pretty small so I can reach most anything in it from one side so the doors have not been open much lately.
