Bagged OBS crew cab diesel dually

Got me a bagged crew cab dually the other day with a 6.5td. Needs some work but it was a daily driver. Starter has caused nothing but trouble and ended up breaking the ear off the block, so I might be putting another block in it. Only have a few pics as the trucks sitting at a buddies house right now. I have no room at my new house for another project and my garage is only 19ft long.

Rear frame has some nice tube work and a gooseneck set up from an old friend of mine, sitting on a 2-link with a narrowed rear. Interiors all done up as well. Haven't looked at the truck much but I know there's two new Air Zenith OB2S under the bed too. Sitting on 4 purple eagle alloy 19s with inner 16s on the back. Hopefully I can get better pics in a couple days when it's off the trailer. Thinking about switching the air setup up and putting the Accuair VU4 and switchspeed I have on this instead of my other dually for now.

Re: Bagged OBS crew cab diesel dually

Haha yep two duallies now. Honestly thinking its really time to move on from the 454 at this point, based on what I want to do with the both of them it won't be possible to give it the love it needs.

This one body wise isn't too bad, front fenders and dually fenders are beat....but I got other front fenders and dually fenders as well as another tailgate with it.

Re: Bagged OBS crew cab diesel dually

A 5.9 Cummins would fit in there nicely since you have to pull out the old 6.5 anyway. I have a truck the same size but 4x4 and single wheel so I will be subscribing.

Rip the 6.5 out and put a 305 in it.

It is sexy but I just don't know anymore, I'm no good at body work or paint so it's gonna cost me a fortune to do that stuff. It only needs a $600 carb swap to run right but why would I drive that thing around when I can drive a crew cab dually that gets twice the mileage and holds twice as many people. You can buy it.

Haha it didn't get around far at all..went from texas to pack of q tips to fleck to dave from g4l for a month and sat half a mile from my house for a while, he didn't want it so now it's mine. Everyone's happy at least.

Thanks..it's such a stupid problem, shitty GM design.

I could but it'd be cooler to tow a bodied dually on 22s with a bagged dually on 24s. Big dreams

I agree, I'd love to do a Cummins swap right now too but it's not gonna happen. Luckily I might have access to a 6.5td bottom end from my buddies truck since he's bagging his and doing the Cummins 12v swap soon.

I think I'd be better off with a 4.3.

Re: Bagged OBS crew cab diesel dually

Yeah but you have to realize I'm now a month into owning my own home with 5 vehicles and a bunch of bills, there's no way I can fund a motor swap right now or anytime soon. The engine ran great, no sense in just throwing it away. We have a couple ideas to fix the starter bolt holes without taking the block out, I know I'm determined as hell to not have to do engine work until I have a big enough garage or it's warmer out. I wish the 6.5's were worth a shit to throw money into, I've been reading on twin turboing it but I keep telling myself there's no point. Just keep it running I guess, at least it's all mechanical injection and I don't have to deal with the bullshit from the newer 6.5's.

Living with parents FTL...it's more fun on my own, even if the bills jumped up $1300+ a month.

I'll take a 12v if people chip in haha.

More pics, trucks off the trailer...snowed 6" today and couldn't get to my buddies house so here it sits.

Re: Bagged OBS crew cab diesel dually

Progress....! We got the starter issue fixed and fired the truck up at 2:30 this morning. Only time will tell how long the fix will last, but from the looks of it it'll be damn near impossible to break off again. Also took some more shots of the truck as well. I ordered 2" spacers for the rear because it has a cab and chassis rear and it tucks the wheels way too much. I won't be doing any heavy towing so spacer/adapters shouldn't affect it too much.

Here it is fixed. Might not look pretty, but it's on there good. Holes threaded as well as a nut on top...shits not going anywhere.

Truck is badass.

I think the starter will be good from on...

Is that a common problem with those trucks or what ?
