Hey black, what made you choose the yella terras over the harland sharps? JW. and you have to let us know how those power slots work, I want to put some nice discs up front in mine.

Re: And so it begins... Project "Turbo X"

I had the harland sharps originally, but I suffered from a valve float issue at 5800rpm early in the season. After some investigation, I blamed the harlands. It turned out that it was actually a pushrod length issue. My pushrods were .050" to short. I sold the harlands and ordered the yella terras because of the weight over the nose. The harlands are heavy at the tip and the Yella terras are significantly lighter at the tip.

The construction of the Yella terras night and day over the harlands in my opinion.

You're workings brings a tear to my dreams. What would you charge for a LS3 swap into an s10? and where are u locating your turbo? in bed or under? are there any extreme fab works needed for the LS swaps? firewall, frame, or is it like my last s10 project of a turbo 305 in a 95?

thx, Paul

and what area of canada? im 20 minutes from the ontario border by 1000 islands/alexandria bay

Re: And so it begins... Project "Turbo X"

not doubting, but Im really interested to hear how the hell you are getting 27 mpg, or around that with these 5.3's and 6.0's that are souped up...is it all in the tuning, or does the fact that your are pushing 2 tons, lowered, instead of 3 tons, in a 4x4 where these engines normally reside?

Also, whats your take on the aluminum 5.3 and 6.0? Good for swapping if someone were looking for a plain jane DD motor that had some pep?

There are a lot of factors that come together to get the fuel milage that I do... Some sacrafices had to be made... One of the biggest ones being cam size. The tune is one of the key points making it happen, I have spent many hours on the highway tuneup. The weight of the truck and the fact that its not turning a transfer case also helps...

I would love a aluminum 5.3L for a DD swap. Any of the LS offerings will work well with that kinda application though.

I set the lock up on the converter to lock early and lock hard so running down the highway its really no difference then running a stick.

Yes ARP 2000 rod bolts, Heads are 64cc with a .050" compressed gasket. Pistons sit .009" out of the hole for a compression of 11.2:1

Re: And so it begins... Project "Turbo X"

The New motor will be 9.5:1 compression

Bucket here is a picture of the shifter. Its a B&M Hammer. Any 4 speed shifter that works on a 700R4 will work on a 60E they dont list this because people then think the shifter will also control the electtronics in the trans... I have changed the shift knob

Yes the shifter will work on any 60E as long as the ECM still controlls the transmission. All the shifter does is move the detent lever.

Re: And so it begins... Project "Turbo X"

I cant recall, but are you still running the gas tank in the stock location? I am curious as to your turbo location and how you are going to run your charge pipes back into the engine compartment. also you going to run the standard 2.25" cold side (I say std cause that is what seems to be the norm on ls1 tech) that said you going to use aluminum for the cold side.

just giving you an idea (if you have not thought about it already) I am planning to go to a blazer 2dr tank(for weight transfer issues), in doing so it would all to mount a turbo in the old tank location and give ample clearance. This would allow some one to run the cold side up in to the engine compartment near the break booster with less bends on the charge side. once that was done follow the wheel leaving the enigne compt. in the front, turn toward the center of the truck, pass the intercooler then back up into the engine compartment on the pass side.

that make any sense?
