Its been a few years since the truck had a boost gauge in it. LOL except this time it will mean more then a 50HP increace at 8psi

Re: And so it begins... Project "Turbo X"

Some Details on the build.

The Shortblock will still be 370 Cubic Inch, Although I need to bring the compression down from the current 11.25:1.

This will include some new Diamond pistons 15cc dish as well as a stout set of H-beam connecting rods.

The turbocharger will be remotley mounted, and for the time being Non-intercooled, I will be using Meth Injection to cool the charge somewhere in the neighborhood of "enough" LOL

Street boost is to be 7psi, track will be 12-14.

Not looking to make numbers a whole lot greater then what I did on the bottle with this setup just looking to make them all the time.

Power production should be in the 600-700RWHP range.

And for those wondering the bottle isnt going anywhere

Your problem will most certainly be TRACTION. You're gonna need to transfer alot of weight to the rear. I see a 9in. (sorry)ford in your future.
Good luck dude.PEACE OUT>Tony

Hey Tony... I love your build it looks great and im sorry i have not commented earlier. I already have a currie enterprises 9" under the truck. It has 60 footed 1.50 on drag radials.

Additional traction this time will be provided by Calvert racing monoleafs and a bigger tire.

1.4X sixty foots here we come

Re: And so it begins... Project "Turbo X"

i have been thinking about doing a turbo when i do my V8 swap. i dont need a turbo but i love the sound of them. thats my main reason for even thinking about the turbo, that and the coolness factor.

is this truck a daily?

i'll be watching

The turbo itself wont. But the lower compression will a small amount due to less efficiancy out of boost.

Wha......no twin screws? So are you still running a stock crank? I heard the truck cranks can handle about 600 hp in stock form.

Re: And so it begins... Project "Turbo X"

holy crap I knew something was comming. You've been pretty quiet lately. The calm before the storm. Let me guess... you're farther along than the pictures suggest. This will be sweet. My build is on pause due to funding (you make me sick) but I have sitting in the garage/basement 5.3 aluminum block (bare), forged crank, forged 3.908" pistons, forged connecting rods. If you have any change left over from your build, I know where it could be used, ha.

Actually this time i am not to much farther along then the pics show... I have a pile of parts much much bigger then the pics show. The interior is outta the truck and I am installing the lexan rear window for the cage to pass through.

Just remember that you are about to fund the stuff that Black X has not yet spoken of.
