Re: 95 s10 body dropped
![]() ![]() notch done. made a 2x2 sub frame, and welded to the bottom of the frame to keep the frame stright, while we could cut the top and in side of the frame out and weld 2x3x1/4 into the frame. ![]() ![]() The 2x3 was pie cut and bent and welded toghther to match the frame angles. ![]() ![]() Welded the frame toghther, now we cut the top of the frame down to the 2x3 ![]() ![]() I decided to renforce the inside of the frame behind the cab where i am mounting the mount for the four link with 1/4 inch plate and 2x2s ![]() drilled holes in the plate so we could plug weld the plate to the 2x2s in frame

Re: 95 s10 body dropped
yes looks nice i'm about to do the same on my truck with the bracing underneath to prevent the frame from tweaking smart idea. the pic cuts though, not sure how your going to finish off the plating but won't that weaken the 2 x 3 in those areas?
when you welded the 2 x 2 to the bottom of the frame what did you do with the part of the inner c channel that hangs down? it adds about 3/16 to the bottom of the frame so i would have to add spacers on the back to mount the supports even |

Re: 95 s10 body dropped
Looks really good man. I like that you ran the 2x2 brace along the bottom while re doing the frame. Most don't and I can imagine the frame easily sagging or warping while welding. Thumbs up for thinking ahead!
Ill be watching this one! |

Re: 95 s10 body dropped
Ya i will be plating the front and back of the frame. I had to put the body on to reinstall the body mounts, as of now the body is on the frame, i had to put the sub frame under the frame with the body on the sub frame that i used to keep the frame stright, it is representing the ground. are you refuring tothe front of the frame

Re: 95 s10 body dropped
Sorry if this seems dumb but ive never crossed over to rebuilding my frame and body dropping yet, but u used 2x3? It looks like u made it 2 high x 3 wide.... Isnt that too weak? , shouldnt it be 3 high 2 wide?. So it doesnt wanna flex as easily.. Just curious. And wanting to learn for when i hack up a 1st gen on of these days to practice hahaha

Re: 95 s10 body dropped
Well I have read alot of posts on this and i left some of the original frame so it is more like 2.5x3.5x3/8 or 1/2 so im hoping that will work if it deflects to much i will plate the inside with 1/4" flat stock.

Re: 95 s10 body dropped
Running 4 rails @ 2 inches tall under the cab instead of 2 is another option as well.

Re: 95 s10 body dropped
Thanks i'm a carpenter by trade so brace brace and it wroked verry well.
To deadbroke in the front where i think you are talkin about in the pic with the 1x1 welded to the 2x2 two pic up is how I helped that 3/16 gap on the inside and bigger tacks from frame to sub frame and made the sub frame 2" wider than the original frame so is that I had some good area to tack to sorry it took so long to get back had to find the pic. |

Re: 95 s10 body dropped
The DS pic of the tub, its tough to tell, but did you remove the entire outer cowl?
I started to set my tubs thi weekend, and am trying to figure out how to rebuild the cowl so it continues to function properly |

Re: 95 s10 body dropped
so after not having my calls returned for a week i told the guy that was making my parts to go to take a leap and keep the parts that he had not made yet im sorry but four mounts to make lowers arms and upper bagmounts what a joke so i plated my lowers and made my own bag mounts for the front and im in the process of making my upper bag mounts for the rear it should only take me one day once i get the 1/4 plate next week.
