Re: 93' S10 project.

Still not much progress. I have checked the ball joints and they seem to be in good shape so thats very good. I guess the inside tire wear is just an allignment problem. I finally got my refund for the headlamps. For now I will just leave the current stock lights in it. They are bright enough and I will have plenty of light after the fog lights are hooked up, which is something else I still need to do. Well maybe in a couple days (after mom gets her digital camera for christmas) I will post some pics of the front end.

Look for pics soon.

Looks great man. Gotta love a good first gen project...

Wish all the people in here would only give constructive criticism vs. the crap they gave you.

Let us know how the drop / wheels stuff goes.

Planning on lowering it. 2 in front and 3 in rear.

Not much today but some upkeep it needed. Put in a new air filter, thermostat, and antifreeze. Yay now the heater works

Re: 93' S10 project.

looks good. i was just lookin at the front end and thought maybe i would toss out the idea of painting the air dam and continuing those racing stripes down the grille and bumper. not flaming, criticizing etc, just a neutral, meant to be helpful, idea. i like the leds tho. wish i would have done that when my dash was stock. taillights actually go quite nice with the paint too.

Re: 93' S10 project.

Lookin' good still!!!

I know there is a fiberglass valence (I think its called the valence - the rubber piece below the bumper) that you can get that stretches almost the whole width of the bumper. I hate the ones we have, looks like me and you have the same exact one - from a 4x4. I want to find the newer one and paint it to match.

I like the idea previously stated of having the matching color with the stripes continued down.

Thanks man, and are you talking about the fog lights? They arent pluged up yet. I will get pics when they are.

I didnt want the stripes down the whole front of the truck basically because thats not the way the factory stripes were on the old muscel cars.

Thanks for all the good comments guys.

Re: 93' S10 project.

I removed the headliner today and theres no chance i can re-cover it. Its a mess. I will just order a new one I guess. I will also be ordering a new dome light lense because I broke that And after driving in the dark with no taillights and no guage lights I figured I should buy a new light switch. Theres a short in it. The headlights come on but nothing else unless you mess with it. So look for updates on the interior.

Today I got the money order sent off (again) for my wheels. Hopefully I will have the wheels in the next few days. I will get pics as soon as they arrive.

Re: 93' S10 project.

I will probably get a GM headliner as I can get it for cost. I work at a body shop. I though about ebay for the switch but most of them look just like me with the white wore off. So I will just get a new one.

Re: 93' S10 project.

nice project

a few suggestions: (1) buy the headlight switch new at a parts store. they're fairly cheap and you will probably never have to replace it again.

(2) you can also buy the dome light lense in the Help section of your local parts store. the old ones get brittle and break easily, so they made a cheap replacement

(3) i personally hate armorall. if the truck sits out in the sun, some of the chemicals in the armorall will eventually evaporate up onto the inside of your brand new windshield (Invisible Glass is an excellent glass cleaner btw). armorall also tends to make the dash crack quicker. as an alternative, my stepdad tought me to use Pledge furniture polish in the spray can (i know it sounds crazy, but he's full of good ideas and experience) to clean the dust and dirt from my dash and it actually helps to repel future dust and dirt! it also doesn't seem to leave that ozone layer on the inside of the windshield. another tip you may already know: don't spray the cleaner directly on the dash, as you will usually get some overspray on the window, just spray whatever cleaner you choose onto a clean cloth and wipe it on.

(4) since you mentioned cleaning the interior, i would also suggest yanking the bench seat and removing the carpet to clean it. my stepdad also taught me that Windex (glass cleaner) works great to clean carpet and cloth seats( I think it has ammonia in it, so don't use it on dark colored cloth)

hope that helps.

Let it go, man...

You both have nice trucks - neither of which are rice. Unless the person saying it is rice is retaliating at comments like this one or many of the others in the beginning of this thread.

Let's try to keep it positive. That always works best for everyone.

Wow that was like 50 post ago, just shut up people.

Thanks for the advice 5timedime. I got my new switch and dome light lense today. Planning on installing the switch later...

I though I would share a photoshop of what my truck is going to look like. ACE2790 did a great job on this.

Man I wish I could make my blazer look that good. Unforutnately its a beater and i don't have the money to sink into it. I don't know anyone that would be able to paint it and i don't have a place either. My neighbor was going to let me put it in his garage to work on some stuff and i still havent' gotten it in there i asked him a couple of months ago he just has too much junk in there to clean out. But nice truck i think it looks awsome!

Re: 93' S10 project.

No wheels or drop yet... still waiting on the wheels. Unfortunately drop is at the bottom of the to-do list. Im running into interior and engine matinence work. I had to buy a new headliner because there was no way of reviving the old one. I also bought some things for the interior it needed. I am still planning on a few interior peices. And I need to get a system in this thing! Sonner or later though it will get droped. The main issue is having someone do it because I have no experience with it and dads too busy to help out. I installed the new light switch... is looks funny with that old crappy dimmer switch so I may buy one of those too...

Anyways more updates hopefull by the end of this week when I get my parts from LMC.

Re: 93' S10 project.

Good news, estimated delivery date on wheels is Friday. Hopefully this is correct. If so I will be getting it in for a much needed alignment by the beginning of next week.

Im scratching the surface on bucket seats. I found some power, leather blazer seats. $150 but they wasnt sure what color and if they had a console. My console has to be gray to match the interior. The seats will either have to be black or gray, having trouble finding anything other than tan... More info on that when I get some calls back from the junkyards. And look for wheel pix at the end of the week!

Re: 93' S10 project.

Still no wheels! ARG. But I got the centercaps. Im guessing the wheels are behind until Monday now. I did get in some parts though. Headliner is here! I got the most of the hole cut out. I will probably get it in by tomarrow so I will have pix. I did a couple other things. Installed the 4.3 badge back on it and put in some brushed aluminum door sill plates. Nothing big...

So I ordered the seats. Salvage yard should deliver them Monday. They are black leather and power. I will probably heat them up... But for now I will put them in like they are and worry about heat pads later. I dont have a console so I will have to hunt down one of those. Let me ask a quesion though... Im thinking about all the things I still need to get together. Ordered seats, so now all I need is the console and the seat belts right?

Re: 93' S10 project.

I got rimz... They came in today and just when I was about to put them on I realized I didnt have the right lug nuts. So I will order them and have them by tuesday... none of the auto parts stores around here have them in stock.

I installed the headliner today and boy was that a pain in the butt... I will get pics of the non-sagging headliner tomarrow.

Re: 93' S10 project.

I like the suggestion of using windex, but also don't use it on water based paints or finishes, it eats latex for breakfast. There are lotsof good cleaners/hide foods for leather too, I used to use connelly brand but they went out of business. You can use acetone for real stubborn stains but be careful. Do not use alcohol or lacquer thinner on the leather or it will instantly remove the tanning.

Re: 93' S10 project.

Ok heres 2 words that makes this project finished... RIMS INSTALLED

I will try and get some pics tomarrow. And also of the headliner. The wheels look so-weet. Alot better than the photoshop... Im am actually thinking I will leave the ride height stock... The wide tires fill it out good enough I dont think I need to lower it. After all, I am going for the muscle look. And better yet, I have some leather buckets sitting in the garage. Got them out of a blazer for 150 bux.

The project is pretty much done but there are future plans.
The leather seats will go in after extreme carpet cleaning.
Sound system very soon.
I would like to have a custom exaust run after the muffler into duels.
Take out cat, Install pulleys and e-fan, maybe intake and chip.
And I have officially decided to stay with the 4.3. I cant really see putting the money into this truck right now or next winter. When the 4.3 blows I will replace it and pop in a cam while I am at it. If this engine seems to run good (Probably havnt put 50 miles on it since I have had it) I will put in a sport cam. But if the time ever comes for a new engine Im going comp cam all the way, I want this thing to sound like 3 harleys idling.

Well look for pics tomarrow of the finished project...

Looks AWESOME man!

I agree, dont go extreme with lowering it,but IMO,I would do what I'm doing,a simple 2/3(spindle/blocks)looks alot better then stock.
But hey man,it looks awesome,I love the truck!

Re: 93' S10 project.

I got the seats in... they r sweet. I need to get some interior pics for you guys. I have changed around my plans for the interior/sound system. Im still going with the pioneer head unit and pioneer speakers in the dash. For the low end Im going to get a bazooka and slide it in between the seats. I will run that off the passengers side rear speaker and put in another poineer speaker in the rear drivers side. Thats of course not going to leave me space for a center console so Im going to get a cheap-o walmart ones so I can hold my drinks. And I still have to get he bucket seat belts...

looks nice with the zq8's on there. i'd still drop it just a 2/3 or 3/3. just out of curiosity, did you grind out the center of the zq8's to fit the 1st gen hubs? i know the hubs on the newer trucks get smaller, so they make the hole in the center of the rims smaller too.

also, i sent you a pm about maybe buying the factory tail lights w/the black trim. i'm still interested. pm me back and at least tell me if you're willing to sell them or not. thanks

Re: 93' S10 project.

I did have to grind out the center of the wheels in order for them to fit up correctly... Well here are a couple of pics of the interior I have been meaning to post.

Re: 93' S10 project.

Nice interior but for the sub. I would run a power wire off of the remote terminal for the amp and then run the sub off that. Then run RCA's from your head unit. I would never run a sub/amp off of speaker wire its very loud and not very crisp.
