93 bodydrop

i've had this for a couple years now and decided to finally get at it and finish it up. i bought it with a traditional to the pinch mold and the 4-link and tubular arms in. so far i all but finished up the painless wiring harness and am ready for the smallblock. i'm re-doing the interior cause i think the color is hideous. i'll be working on it pretty much every weekend to try to get it driveable by the spring time. here's some pics.

i'm going to raise the floor of the bed and redo the sheetmetal that was done. i'm also thinking about removing that gas tank crossmember. if i do that do i have to make a new crossmember there just for strength in the frame?

just finished cutting the pockets and installing the shocks this past weekend

this is the old interior. if anyone wants it, make an offer, its complete.

and here are the new cavy seats

i also originally had my 2 viair 450s, 2 5 gallon tanks, and 8 valves in the bed, but i ripped it all apart to locate it underneath. (my little brother helping out)

Re: 93 bodydrop

yea i know the interior sucks, its comin out. i'm gonna use a dash from a 83 s-10 and just find the other pieces as i go along. i'm more worried about gettin it driveable than anything else.

Re: 93 bodydrop

the body is good. it only has 55k on it and was garage kept. i'm gonna cut the old sheetmetal out of the bed today to move the floor up to cover the notch hole. kinda sucks the bed is only goin to be 6 inches deep though. i'm kinda worried its gonna look stupid.

Re: 93 bodydrop

well, over this weekend i got the floor of the cab cut out and leveled for the bucket seats to be directly bolted in. i have 2 pieces to tack into place yet and then run the full welds.

i'm going to cut the sheetmetal out of my bed in the next weekend i get time. from reading i should use 16gauge right? and what should i use for the frame for the bed floor? 1", 3/4" or 1/2" square stock?

Re: 93 bodydrop

here's the engine. its a 92 crate engine, 4 bolt main, 9k on it, weiand intake, edelbrock 600 carb, and i havent' decided on installing a cam or not. here it is when i got it and now ready for paint. my plans are to get it installed over spring break and hopefully get it to the point of firing it up.

Re: 93 bodydrop

Thanks. i got the hood cut today and the front end put together except for the grille. I have to cut my old one to put my phantom grille into it. It should really tie the front end together. I think the carb scoop sits down a little too low so i'm going to get a carb spacer to bring it up an inch.

I'm going to order a 1 inch spacer. I'm not sure if i should use an open spacer or the one with the 4 bores in it.

There interior is not that color anymore. It has the cavi seats and I am glassing the dash right now. The grey tweed is on the way. Trappe is NW of philly. 20 min. from King of Prussia mall.

Yea I think so too. I have some chrome mirrors and want to get a chrome front bumper for it to go with the phantom grille. If I put the wiper motor back in I have the billet and chrome wiper arms too.

That is one of the sweetest looking s10's i have ever seen. I'm not really a fan of scoops or blowers like that but it looks good on yours. Keep up the great work.

It opened fine before I put on the 1" carb spacer, but now I need to trim a 1/4" off of the one edge on the underside of the hood

Re: 93 bodydrop

So i got the dash in and the brain for the 7" motorized head unit mounted under it. I still have to wire everything up. I also jumped around and trimmed and fit my phantom grille then glued it to the grille shell and installed it. I still want to get some clear lenses though.

Next thing I want to do is re-do the link setup and make it a forward bag on bar setup.

Re: 93 bodydrop

loving that dash man. looks very clean. and with all that detail on the rear frame rails and such, why cover it with a sheetmetal bedfloor? I woud atleast make a hinged "hatch" in the floor to show it off at shows and stuff. and just my taste, but stock hood or cowl would have looked better. never been a fan of stuff coming through the hood, unless its a nice polished 8-71 or something

Re: 93 bodydrop

The previous owner did the diamond plate, so I'm not worried about showing it off and would rather have more room to hide all the air management under the bed floor. The spring pockets will get re-done when the RE-7s go in, cause the 2500 stones aren't going to do the trick. I'll grab a better pic of the front end with the phantom grille once is stops raining.

Re: 93 bodydrop

Well, I got the gauges wired up and the head unit and brain as well. Went to the junkyard to get the rest of my interior pieces so I can tweed them soon.

In the mean time I decided to tear the front end apart cause the 2500s didn't give me shit for lift. These pics are at 125 psi!!!

So I think some RE7s will do the trick.

thanks. Working long hours is slowing me down right now, but such is life. I'm getting some upper ball joints tomorrow just for the rubber boots and some touch up paint for where I cut the pocket and I hope to have it back together by tomorrow night.

Re: 93 bodydrop

cool. you will be so much happier with the re-7's. I went from 2500's to them and it was probably the best money I spent on the truck. locks out the control arms at 90 psi, ride height at 60
