92 s10 blowthrough

Hey everyone... I've been a member on here for a while on another account, never posted though just watched random builds and what not. figured I'd switch to my regular alias and throw up my s10 build.

most of you may not be familiar with any of my work or my "team's" work unless you're on SMD or CSCO, so I'll throw up a few pics of some other builds and then start with the s10 which is still in progress.

start off with my 4door mazda, nothing special.. i never took the time to make it look nice.

older pic, tukn' 15s on stock suspension lol...

onto some of my buddy kyle's builds. if you're into car audio Kyle Golden is a name you need to remember... he's been into this since he was 11, did his first install when he was 15.

the first two are his rides.
Silverado

his rear window lit up at night

yukon

couple other random cars.

okay okay i got carried away enough of those... remember only that first black car was my work.

s10 pics coming up.

The day I bought the truck from my grandfather

I'm really doing everything at once, so body work is in progress with everything else

some interior stuff, kyle is doing the work instead of myself this time around

Re: 92 s10 blowthrough

orange suede looks brighter/reder than it is in person...

onto stuff i'm doing myself, center console/amp rack(here you can really see the difference between my skill level and kyle's)

the start of the amp rack... not sure if i'm going to put the big 1000.1 back here or the mids/highs amps..

stuff thats not finished yet, again i'm doing everything at once and on a tight budget.

Re: 92 s10 blowthrough

here's the woofers that will be going in...

6 AudioQue 18's although I may end up only using 4.

some enclosure pics

plenty of room for batts

this is the part that has had me mostly on the edge of 4 18's or 6 18's

Re: 92 s10 blowthrough

Under the hood the truck has a 4.3 vortec, everything is stock so nothing special.

has 130k miles on it, had 128k when i bought it and most of that 2k came from a trip to chicago to get the woofers lol.

as of right now it's not daily driven because it has no exhaust on it...

i was doing the big 3 one night with barely any light and i guess my ratchet hit the ECT sensor when i was doing the engine ground so the trucks computer was reading that it was -35 degrees below and ran really rich... it would die most of the time after 4 or 5 seconds. i tried everything to figure out why it was running rich(which is why theres no exhaust lol)

...excuse me. i was always told its a vortec, i know nothing about under the hood everyone thats ever looked at my truck always just says "oh the 4.3 vortec, great engine, lasts forever" so i went with it .

and no, it's not MDF it's birch plywood. 11ply, a lot stronger and lighter. better for bigger builds like this to keep down on the weight.

Re: 92 s10 blowthrough

I don't know the exact weight of either, but I'd say a full sheet is pretty close to being half as light.... I'd consider myself fairly small and I can handle a full sheet by myself.

Re: 92 s10 blowthrough

nice progress so far. cant wait to see how the console and blow through end up looking

and technically, it is a vortec, since it uses the vortec head design, its just not a cpi(considered the "true" vortec) the only difference is the intake.

03 QX4-litteraly bone stock. Wife's daily, and im not allowed to touch it.lol

93 Del Sol SI-FF time attack/daily build in progress. we'll see what all happens as it goes.lol

No, Not going to get into a debate and whore this guys thread. BUT.. TBI Throttle Body Injection... 2 injectors which spray through the throttle body..Air and fuel mix right in the throttle body..
CPI.. Centrifugal Port injection, "Vortec" Idea, but no an actual Vortec engine, CPI is injected past the throttle body unit giving the air/fuel a chance to atomize prior to combustion, However the air/fuel is not spinning in a "vortec" spiral ..
Vortec is Direct injection, And it has to do with the intake manifold design which makes the air/fuel spiral and atomize before combustion instead of just a straight flow.

Good build, I want more pics lol

Re: 92 s10 blowthrough

Info on the differences is welcome and appreciated... I may not be too interested in automotive technologies but its part of my major, so the info helps.

Been doing bodywork on the truck mostly, doing the exhuast Sunday... got the shell of the enclosure loaded last night so ill finish that up soon too.

Ill post pictures when I have enough.

Will be a demo machine for sure, but I expect a 57+ sealed. I have a term lab so ill be able to shrink volume of the enclosure add port length etc to test.

yes it. its a series tuned 6th order bandpass. lower tuned rear port and higher tuned front port/loading wall. got it playing last night wasn't impressed with it. looked at it this morning turns out half the woofers weren't hooked up, its much more impressive now. i'll have more pictures and maybe a video after work.

nice man, i dont know anything about 6th orders, i'm only just getting into 4th orders, built one for 4 15s i was pretty impressed by it, but my next set up i wanna do 12 15s but there is no way i'll be able to get the airspace for a 6th order, lol only have about 50 cubes to work with

Re: 92 s10 blowthrough

haven't updated this in a while, and thats for a good reason..

wasn't happy with the way it preformed and didn't want to cut the rear wall out of the cab to make it preform better, so after all this time i kind of dropped out of audio and started this.

picked it up monday night, waiting on some parts in the mail but this is what i have so far.

just a stock 350, wont be doing a whole lot since i don't know very much about it all. redoing all the gaskets, new intake and carb. engine is pretty clean on the inside for being from the 70's.
