8 ch digital sound processor, 4 way active, 31 band graphic eq, time alignment, and I can't control with my Mac.

Hopefully I can hear it over the exhaust. Played with my timing today and got it set and running much better. Just got some carb issues. I'm starting to gather parts for my fuel injection setup.

Maybe you have too much carburetor? I have used edelbrock 1406 carbs (600 cfm) on my last two 350's and they have been spot on for me.

Re: 91 Street Truck

I had a somewhat similar inspection situation in New York State. I got the inspection manual from a friend, ( you know, the rules... you can request one from the dics at MV if I'm not mistaken) I read all of the articles they failed me for... half of them were made up by the dics at the inspection station.
Anyway, I appealed the decision and it really took them MONTHS, but they granted me an exemption and issued a new VIN!!! WTF!!! It turned out to be a 'manufacturers' VIN for a custom built vehicle.
Cost me $250... And a pretty blue sticker for the driver door jamb. I had to take it to a 'special' inspection place where they tore into EVERYTHING looking for stolen parts.
WTF? It was a goofy ISUZU I mark... Who the HELL would steal one of those??? I wish I still had pics, the rig was pretty rad looking. It was set up like a road race rig - flared, lowered pretty much a race car.
Suggestion:
I know this sounds like a total PIA, but you have to beat them at their own game. It appears that everything you metioned is not a serious infraction. They should be able to exempt you, but who knows.
It would be pretty cool to have the exemption and cruise by the inspection place with an "IN YOUR FACE" ahole...
Contact the MV nazis at the main HQs, and appeal the inspection process.
It can't hurt and who knows? Maybe someone who thinks your rig is cool will grant you the "Special VIN" or something...

Re: 91 Street Truck

Ah man that's awesome. I'd love to see pics of that.

Actually my dad and I had a similar idea, I was going to see if we could get classic plates for my non classic truck. I have gathered the names of the guys in charge of the DMV. I plan to send them an email, and a written letter explaining my situation and why I want classic plates.

I've never herd of an inspection exemption, I will most deffinetly look into that. The only thing that scares me is having some of the houpies around here lay a finger on my truck. What you described sounds a lot like getting an r title vehicle back on the road, the inspection side of it.

Ah it would make me SO happy to show the state cop that told me everything has to be oem see that I can legally drive the truck. That would be great. I'm exactly where you were with the laws, there very vague and can be taken many different ways. How I read them, my truck passes, how 90% of the people I have shown them to reads them it passes, and how these "certified" inspectors read them is a whole different story.

I will go to the DMV tomorrow with these questions, and hopefully can get a full cope of the laws on disc.

Thanks for the info!

Re: 91 Street Truck

Been awhile since I've been on here. I ran into problem after problem with the engine, first the carb was flooding so it took me a week to figure out I had a bad float. Fuel psi was to high, so I had to get a fpr and fought leaky fuel lines plumbing it in. Changed my oil and had no oil psi, I'm using a canton pan, canton dipstick and there recommended pick up, so I assumed I could go off of the dip stick notches on their stick. Nope, I'm supposed to use my stock stick to find the level and mark the canton one. Got that figured out today finally.

I will say it is running much better, finally getting to enjoy all that power.

Started on my door panels, got a layer of glass on them, need to do one more layer then I'll finish it up.

Only pic of the fpr mounted that I have.

Swapped out the tweeters and got new mid ranges

Somewhat, the fuel pressure regulator made a big difference. I really need a open place to test and tune it where I cant be bothered by the police.

Re: 91 Street Truck

Still no sticker. I've been tearing up the back roads, and I'll only take it through town at night. Seems like every time I have it out I see more cops than I ever do lol.

Got a friend I went to high school with that might be able to get me a sticker, won't be a modified though. If anyone asked it wasn't lowered, and it had primered doors with handles on it, and a different grill when he gave me the sticker. I'll say I changed it after he gave me the sticker. I don't want to get him in trouble over it.

Driver side door panel is almost ready to cover in vinyl.

28' x 36'. That's just for the footer, it's pretty deep on that side because the yard is slopped a bit.

Did some work to the passenger door panel tonight,

I'm going to use the 4 way stretch vinyl on the door panels. It doesn't match to great with the other vinyl I used, but if I like it Ill cover everything else with it.

I'm getting a Porsche 914 Saturday for parts. I think its time I start a build thread for my ghia.

Re: 91 Street Truck

I put a fuel cell in so I am not positive on this, but from what I understand you should be able to use the stock tank and sendings unit. You should pull the pump out and make your own pick up tube. I'm sure there are threads with this discussed.

Yeah I have read of guys leaving the pump in. In my opinion, I'd rather spend the time to pull it out. It might work ok with it in there, but it could lead to head aces down the road lol.

Bringing this back from dead. I cant believe its been 2 years since i posted in this thread. Well its 2016 and my truck is 25 years old, so I can now get antique plates and drive it. Im working some of the bugs out now trying to have it ready for the road.

Im wasting my time haha, no one wants to look at a 7 year old thread.

I wouldn't say you are necessarily wasting your time. I just read through your thread and I really like everything you are did. I know this thread is 7 years old but I have only been on for about 2 years so it is new to me.

Thanks! Yeah I was on here often a few years ago. I kinda moved on to other forums, but I still come back and check in. Now that I can legally drive my truck I will prob be getting on here more.

I welded some flex pipes into my exhaust. Also I am considering taking the cats out. I don't have to worry about inspections anymore, and they look like crap. "Stainless Steel" magnaflow cats. I don't recommend them, this truck had less than 100 miles on it and has been stored in a heated garage in the winters. I contacted magnaflow, they are past their warranty, but I think it's pretty bad how they look now.

My first attempt at tiging stainless exhaust tubing
