85 Step Van Project

Werd, muh 85 Step Van

215,000 miles, new(er) motor rebuilt tranny

I am going to spend as little as possible on this Rig (for now). So far, I am going to bag it F/B ( If yall have used air shit, let me know ), section bout 2 1/2 feet out of it and rake it foward so the windshield windows will be about 14 inches tall, and gut the whole inside so its all open. The body is rivited together since it is aluminum, so I still gotta take a look underneath and look into a BD and a new floor solution. The 350 in it looks nasty, but eventually I will pull it and have it blasted so I can paint it. Dunno if I will paint the exterior or not, if I do it will be black with true flames or some obnoxiously bright neon color. Or maybe black with white SWAT decals on it to match my car, hah.

Anyoen that is good at photoshop that would want to hit me up with a concept, let me know I have a 1.2 Meg photo of the original above. I took a stab at it, but I dunno how to "Rake" the roof and I'm not too good at the finer details.

Keep in mind when I chopped the roof, everything in the background was also lowered about 2 feet. I'm a noob when it comes to photoshopping

That is freakin awesome. I just showed my wife this thread and she looked at me weird. I'd do something like that if I was still single...just for grins.

Re: 85 Step Van Project

^ LOL

Sure ;-)

So far, all the shelving has been gutted out of the rear and all the un-needed accessories have been removed (emissionscrap such as air pump and exhaust toobing otu of the head ( plugged) ), alarm, broken speakers, and some other crap.

It is snowing today, so I wont be workin on it. But what I need to do still is grind the screws off the floor to remove the fridge as well as teh bolts to remove teh safes. Then I am going to go to teh junkyard sometime in th enear future to pick up another bracket and seat so I can get two of um in there for now.

I'm lookin for someone to build me a 4 link that I can bolt to leaf pearch, any volunteers?

Re: 85 Step Van Project

Here is the suspension setup as of now. What are your guys suggestions? I was thinking just a parallel 4 link with some LONG ass bars ( the frame rails are straighter then shit ). But I dunno

Re: 85 Step Van Project

for as much lower as it needs to go you might think about putting the axel above the frame so you wouldnt have to have a 20 inch notch, but thats if you plan to lay frame

Re: 85 Step Van Project

Is that a 14 bolt rear end? If so, Blue Torch Fabworks makes a sick ass bracket that bolts/welds to that rear end and has a mounting plate on top of the diff for your 4 link tabs. Let me grab the link.........here, check this out... http://www.bluetorchfab.com/oscomm/c...roducts_id=112 My buddy just got done picking that up for a full size Chevy he is prerunning out. It is pure BEEF. Blue Torch Fab also sells a cage that the other end of the upper links mount up to. Looks stout and has the spider web design to it.
