Shouldn't be any different. You'll have a whole bed to work under though. You could even do RE8's if you wanted some crazy bags back there.

Where are you at? The first show I'll be bringing the truck to is our fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. If you're close to us you should consider coming up. It's a great show to start the season off with. Details are on our club site in my sig. Later that summer I'll be taking it to ITB. I plan on driving the hell out of it this summer. Get some good miles on it to break in the engine.

Re: 4-Door Love project pics

Thanks guys. I just pay the bills ,come up with the ideas, and do some bitch work. I have some really great guys working with me up at Kinetik Kustomz. No way in hell I'd be able to do it without them.

Well today's a day off. We're all off to Monster Truck Jam!

Re: 4-Door Love project pics

All the air's rerun now. Tank and compressors are in the back. All the wire's in looms and secured to the sheetmetal. The lid for the notch is complete now too. Next week I'll start painting all the interior sheetmetal with Rust Bullet. Then we'll start concentrating on the bodywork again. I have a pic on my cellphone I'll try to post this weekend sometime.

93blazer4dr: What do you have for a suspension setup in your truck right now? Figure out what you're going to do with the tails yet? I also noticed you shaved your tailgate handle. What do you do to open it?

Re: 4-Door Love project pics

The steel tubing has a 1/4" wall and the plates are 16 ga.

You can see how we cut back the wheel tubs in this pic.

That's JUST enough to be able to fit some modified buckets in the back. Even with that much cut away when I put a stock bucket in there it's hard to get your leg past the b-pillar to sit down. Once you get the notch in put the axle all the way up in to see where the tires land. Try to cut the front sheetmetal of the tubs as close to the tire as possible. Also try to place the front of the upper links as close as possible to each other so you have more space for the seats. The 4-link setup we did is amazing. It has 11 1/2" of travel and the driveshaft angle hardly changes. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Oh, side note. I just ordered new tabs. Within the next few weeks the current axle is being pulled and one with disc brakes and a posi is going in.

Re: 4-Door Love project pics

I wish you had asked me a month ago when everything was still exposed. I might be able to find the lengths of the links I ordered from SD. Feel free to use any of the pics I have as a reference and try to duplicate as much as you can. The crossmember we built was welded in at the same location as the stock one. If you get that in place and use the pics as a reference you should be able to come pretty close to duplicating it. One thing I'd do differently if we redid things: I'd have them make the shock mounts on the upper bridge a little lower. The way they are now they just add extra height to the notch that's not needed.

Re: 4-Door Love project pics

The uppers are mounted to the driveshaft hoop on the crossmember. The lowers are mounted to the plates on the crossmember. Oh, I check w/ Pooch at Kinetik Kustomz (The guy that's doing the work). The tubing is 3/8 wall. Plate is 3/8 thick too. Beefy shizt. The link bars were something like 21" for the uppers and 20" for the lowers.

As far as copying the setup goes, use it as a guide but be sure to really think things through. There's things I'd change if we did it again. Nothing big but there's always room for improvment. When it comes to fitting seats in, every inch counts.

Re: 4-Door Love project pics

A few new pics. Air is all run now. Tail lights finally work again. Notch lid is almost done. We're about half way through getting the tail lights mounted. Started painting with Rust Bullet but ran out. Just ordered another quart.

Started painting the interior sheetmetal

Ya, I have a pile of Second Skin Audio boxes in my basement right now. It'll be hard to tell for quite a while seeing as I probably won't have everything put back together and running for a few months at least. If you're interested in some reviews you should hit the forum on their site: http://www.secondskinaudio.com. There's plenty of people there that have done all sorts of installs with it and they can tell you how they like it. Oh, forum members get a discount on SSA products too!

Haha, ya those are from the New Years party. Gotta take a break sometime!

A few Oaktown Trucks members at the party:

Josh manning the ice luge

That's Doug with a beer on his bodydropped S10

And Pooch drunk with his gumball machine spinner necklace. Haha!
