Re: 3+ years in the making

started on the door panels.. started with a mint door panel, and turned it into this in about 3 minutes...

the panel was stripped and the was cut so that the panel can becoem flat... you can kinda tell the idea oh how its gonna look. the top part im gonn try to make out of sheetmetal, at least thats the plan..

Re: 3+ years in the making

built a drag bar for the rear.. used the stock rear leaf spring shackes added soem tubing, and then used some beefy straps to hold it in place...
all i gotta do is lay the back out and it drags perfectly.. and man it sparks..

dont think i ever posted pics of it aired up so here they are...

back layed out

all aired out.. i need to trim some off the spring pockets up front, since my control arm hits it, since i put the new rims on, then it will lay out completly, im about 1/2 or less from totalt frame laying.....

and heres a pic of a crusie night i went to tonight...

the drag bar just has two angled flat shock welded on the sides of the rear bar which bolt to the frame....

well i think i raised the tank up maybe an inch or so.. it is also pushed about 2 inches further towards the rear of the truck.. the 2nd gen roll pan completly hids the gas tank.. if i have my front all the way aired up and the back dropped (before the drag bar) my tank straps would drag barely) licence plate frame would be verrrrrrrry close to dragging too...

i get some pics soon.. on page 2 you can see where mounted my tank.. im pretty sure i just lifted the front of the tank up about 2 or so inches...

as for the roll pan, its second gen s10 bed sides sectioned down to fit the blazers lower quarters, then welded to a 2nd gen s10 rollpan

Re: 3+ years in the making

the 2nd gen roll pan and bedsides are about 5 or so inches longer in the rear..

i think trailer balls will be too long if you do it the way you are wanting.. and besides why have just tiny lil balls to drag when you can drag a 3-4 foot long piece of steel lol

this is the best shot i could get of the straps that hold the drag bar into place..

Re: 3+ years in the making

started up back on my door panels... the top half i build out of some round tubing and some sheetmetal..

welded up, not ground down.. and mind the masking tape its only temporary.. lol

all ground down and my lokar handles installed.. hard to see but you get the point... still need to do more metal work but this is where its at right now...

they're gonna look real clean, but how did you attach it all together????
are you using part of the origional door panel?

the original door panel is under neath.. the fiberboard is rivited to the stock door panel, as shown in the pics... the top metal panel will have studs welded on the back side and then bolted to the door panel with no screws or anything showing.

ah ha.

in order to make room for the added thickness, did you make the origional door panels any thinner?? or did you section more out of the middle of the dash?

i made the dash fit the door panels originally... and i maybe trimed just a lil bit out of the panels to have some clearance.
