Re: 3+ years in the making

stock gas tank will work..had to cut the rear floor out more since i had to push the rear crossmember back 2 inches.. and had to make a bracket in the front to mount the tank to.. still not done with it tho

you can kinda see the bracket that will hold the tank straps.

Re: 3+ years in the making

heres an update kinda..winter sucks.. my garage is so damn cold and it sucks to work in.. been pretty lazy.. however the gas tank is all mounted and fuel hardlines have been run to the tank.. next step is to start closing up the big hole back there and weld a new floor and sink the battery in the floor too. im going to build an access cover to get to the rear suspenion incase anythign needs to be serviced.
no pics, becauase there is nothign to look at

Re: 3+ years in the making

original rear floor piece and drivers wheel tubs welded back in.. the rear tubs were widened by 3 inches just for some extra room... (passengers tubs is just sitting in there)

(my garage got really smokey from the welding, so thats why the pics look that way..)

Re: 3+ years in the making

worked on it again today.. got some more floor back in, tubs all welded back up and built the frame for the access cover to get the the bags and all that good stuff... the cover will have have weather strippign and such to seal out exhaust fumes and weather. it will be hinges and will have a lock, and also have a pair of struts to prop it up..

(body hammer works as a prop rod for now.. lol)

well i choped it down about 2 inches from what i had it originally..it could be some what lower then what it is now, but i like having a little extra clearance.... plus with the front up and the rear down the shaft goes up more into the notch and im not exactly sure how much i need so i gave it alot of extra room.

today i welded plates for the tanks to mount to then put 1 coat of herculiner on.. shit is well worth the money. one more coat after and it will be fine.. btw i only did half of the truck since i need to do a bunch of shit up front first... and so while the back is drying i can do some things to the dash and what not...
