$2013 GRM Hopeful '92 Sonoma

Bought this truck back in April off craigslist for $620.
1992 GMC Sonoma 2.8L 5spd 2wd, 336k on the odometer and it's allegedly on it's 3rd engine. When I bought it, it was extremely rough. Now, 8 months later, its just really rough!
A brief summary of the issues:
Blown shocks, bald tires, blown rag joint, bucket seats not even bolted to the floor, auto parts shift knob slipped onto cut shift rod, tons of wiring issues, and lots of cosmetic stuff. I keep finding more and more wrong with it, but so far everything is easily fixable and I've been enjoying having a project to spend good weather working on, and I've been learning a lot. I hope to have this truck competing in the 2013 Grass Roots Motorsports Challenge.
When I bought it:

Spent a couple bucks on some spray paint:

Painted a shark mouth in a hurry one day, and took the bumper off to check out why it hung weird. Turns out the frame rail/bumper mounts were broken, re-welded and broken AGAIN.

Next I took these off:

Added some lowering spings that are definitely NOT V6 3" drop springs (maybe 4cyl springs, they are super soft and bottom out and bounce) 3" drop blocks and a set of 16x7 et0 Cragar soft 8's with 215/65-16:

Added a "smoothie" front bumper (stock without the rub strip, maybe from a '85ish model)

Still not hung right, going to re-weld the mounts at some point but at least it's on.

Replaced worn out door pins and installed door spring:

Finally took some pics with a camera:

And the redneck that owns it:

Took it sliding (I don't call it drifting yet, but clutch kicking will break the open diff'd rear sideways.) today for the 5th time or so, took a crummy vid:
http://youtu.be/AfS6YvJZcmA

And just thowin' this out there, my daily:

2009 Honda Fit Sport 5 speed, Buddy Club Coilovers, 17x8.5 Rota D2, Sema special Tjin Edition Interior, Custom graphics.

The fit looks good. I like that, I normally don't like fits at all.

Truck is cool though! It'll be interesting to see where it goes.

Trust me, a liitle beat is a compliment! This thing was trashed when it found me.

Yeah, there will be some cosmetic improvements as the mechanicals get sorted and the bumper will be fixed.

Are you referring to the pic with the door off? That's my spare tire tow-strapped to the hook in the corner of the bed. Sorry to disappoint but I doubt my truck will be that interesting

Most people with fit's just throw some wheels, a roof rack and some mugen badges on and call it a day.

Link to my blog and a post with some more sick 2nd Gen Fit's

Mugen equipped 2nd Gen Honda Fit's

I read this to mean these were the plans for the Fit.

The white Fit with the black roof reminds me alot of my Rio.

Just an idea but you can do the black a gloss with a flat clear. Or fully flat black. I've seen cars that have two tone with black and another color, with flat black and the gloss color. It looks real good.

Plans for the fit are a lot simpler. This year I'm hoping to:
install air ride
custom front lip, custom side skirts and diffuser
modify spoiler mounts
Re-finish wheels

I'm going to do Gloss green and flat black. That pic is from Gran Turismo 5, that's a special edition Dodge Challenger SRT8 Touring Car.

Pic from today, temporarily installed front lip and put the wheels back on that came with the truck.

When it comes to "cheap" everything is relative. Whatever I go with engine wise will most likely be from the local Pull A Part, where an entire running complete engine can be had for less than $300.

This week I'm going to try and rectify the clutch issue I'm having and then do some fun stuff.

New wheels coming soon!

Do you have a build thread going on the GRM board? I'm on that forum, too.

Not yet, maybe once I actually accomplish something interesting I may! Right now I'm in the process of a clutch replacement.

What size tire do you have stretched on the 15x10's? Sort of looks like a rally truck now. I like it

I have 205/60-15 on the fronts, and 215/60-15 on the rear. Thanks for the compliment!

I'm running 2" belltech drop spindles and cut zq8 springs up front for about a 5.5" drop up front and out back I've got 4" Speedway motors drop leafs and 3" blocks, along with nitro 2 drop shocks. I plan to put shorter stiffer springs up front and add a couple leaves out back to stiffen it up along with new shorter travel shocks at some point.

Thanks for all the compliments guys, I've got a long list of stuff I want to do still.
