Re: 1999 s10 v8 and body project

going back to s10 front end and bed.
the hombre parts are for sale. but cant post them yet since i dont have enough posts. also have a 4.3 motor, manual trans, and wiring harnes for sale.

putting a 383 motor in it with a build th350 trans. plan on keeping it the same color but adding black red orange, yellow etc. to it and wet sanding it all to make it look old.

i have alot of projects going on over the winter so pics might be slow. but i plan on getting motor and trans out this week. and get the floor to the bed spot welded back together.

this is my first motor swap on a body dropped truck. so any help would be awesome.

This old truck, been awhile since I seen it. Really wish I wouldn't have hit that pot hole. Good luck with the rebuild, I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Re: 1999 s10 v8 and body project

the guy that bought it from you still owns the truck. im just doing all the work on it. he paid a guy to rewire everything. and the guy ****ed him. wiring pretty much cought on fire. melted relays.etc. so now im going through the truck and putting the motor in it. and swapping everything back to a s10.
do you know if there is a orginal build on the truck from when it was stock to now? i searched the names in your old thrend about the truck and didnt find much.

Re: 1999 s10 v8 and body project

The guy who has it now just recently sold me an 80 amp relay for my comps. I also put a post up here saying he was selling the hombre parts. But i never did get a chance to get his info. So if he's still looking to sell the hombre front clip post his number up so he can be contacted by members.

Yeah looks that way. Really like the way yours is going.

I'll look around the the other build thread, I have a pic somewhere when it was still that green color that you've prolly seen in a few places. I cannot remember any of the names before me. The guy I bought it from didn't build it.

Re: 1999 s10 v8 and body project

got a little more work done today. i got the bed all cut where i think it needs to be but didnt have a extra set of hands to help put it on the truck. if all goes well tomorrow i should be able to start putting the floor back in. im kinda jumping around today since its only me at the shop. but heres some progress pics

removed the radiator and core support to start pulling the motor and trans.

time to clean

gotta pull the bolts and put washers on. dont like this at all. also gotta clean the frame and repaint.

thinking about replacing the blue line on here with hard line. this stuff gets very brittle over time and weather.

some more paint work on the frame

got bigger wheel tubs to put in.

hack ass wiring job.

got the front cut for the gas tank. havent decided if we are gunna keep it or run a fuel cell yet.

ruff cut bed side.

had to cut this to clear the valves and rear of the frame

just a ruff cut. once the floor and wheel tubs are in i will clean it all up.

decided to clean the air tank

cleaning up pretty good.

thinking about painting the tanks blue like the truck with polished ends.

this was clean lol.

Re: 1999 s10 v8 and body project

What happened to the wiring? There was barely any wiring in the damn thing when I sold it. Hell I think it only had 2 speakers and a switch box lol

Re: 1999 s10 v8 and body project

the owner of the truck put all new bags and i believe pumps and valves put on the truck. and payed a guy to do the work. and well lol.. thats the work the guy did. all the black wires are remote, power and ground wires. running to relays. then the large green wire is the wires that go to the pumps. melted relays and wires. he was sitting in the truck and smoke started rolling from behind the seat. lol. you can only run the pumps for about 1 min. then the wires start to melt. so now im going to rewire everything for the guy. no charge since the first guy hacked it all up. he shouldnt have to pay to have someone redo it right

Re: 1999 s10 v8 and body project

ok sooo i decided to wait on the bed. gunna cut pretty much the whole side wall out and cut new metal and then put the floor in. so now im waiting to go buy the metal. in the mean time i have been working on another project that we have at the shop. and thats a 89 mustang coupe. that im re building got into a wreck about 8 months ago. bent the frame rails so i welded new frame rails on it. now im getting it ready for paint. just got the windows cut out and filled in the antenna hole. waiting for my pdr guy to come down and fix a couple of dents in the roof. and then paint.

today i decided to roll the lips on the fenders for the s10 and clean them up a little. well i was having issues getting it to roll right. and the fender got several dents in it while trying to roll it. also in one spot the fender ripped. ive done several of these never had any issues.. so now im gunna so buy a new fender for the truck so i figured im gunna use this fender to play around with some paint to see if the owner if the truck likes how im gunna paint it.

let me know what you guys think. the owner of the truck loves. how it looks.
also this is just some cheap spray paint lol. turned out super good tho.

blue base coat. then i layed a coat of black primer over this. then i layed a coat of red primer"brown" over that then black again.
wet sanded it then clear

i think it looks pretty decent for a quick job. i hope the truck turns out really nice.

Re: 1999 s10 v8 and body project

Are you going for the whole "patina" look?

Is that rattle can or what?

You could always just throw a raised stock bedfloor back in and be done.

Re: 1999 s10 v8 and body project

your going to laugh but we forgot to buy clear so i had some high temp clear left over from when we painted the motor. so i used it. but its all rattle can. one of my buddies argued with me about the picture when the fender was just blue he swore i painted that with my spray gun. with high $$ paint. he still doesnt believe its rattle can. its all in the prep work. and honestly there wasnt much prep work. we hit the fender with the da with 320 grit to ruff the paint up. washed and tac clothed it then sprayed. lol
