Updated pics of my 01
Well I spraypainted the bowtie in the grill flat black and put on some clear signal lights from ebay. Let me know what you think! My birthday is tomorrow and i'll be getting some money so I might get a 3/4 drop.

Re: Updated pics of my 01
Thanks guys. I'm pondering on doing a drop kit or an ebay CAI (just for sound) With the 3/4 kit will I have to get an alignment done?

Re: Updated pics of my 01
Would 3/4 be low enough? All I want to do is front springs and blocks. And will I need an alignment?

Re: Updated pics of my 01
I'm on a budget so I only want to do drop springs in the front and blocks in the back. If I do lower it i'll do the 3/4 kit and make sure it gets aligned after it's dropped. It just depends on how much $$$ i get for my b-day.

Re: Updated pics of my 01
I want to do a 3/4 drop though cuz the back sits higher than the front and summitracing only has a 3/3 kit. Anyone use these kits?

If you're not sure how much $$$ you're getting for the birthday just play it safe and get some sport mirrors from streetnshow and save up for a DJM kit later

Re: Updated pics of my 01
do a 3" coil up front with new shocks, and factory zq8 bumpstops, and for the rear, pull a leaf and put a 2" block with a shim and a setback plate ( def want a setback plate for a shortbox reg cab) to get a 4" drop in the rear- stock rear shocks are fine

Re: Updated pics of my 01
^I don't have enought money for new shocks all I can get is the 3" drop coils and the 4" drop blocks plus I will have to get it aligned.
Wow I didn't know the side mirrors were so cheap. How do I install these mirrors? Am I going to have to take off the door panel? http://www.streetnshow.com/catalog/p...oducts_id=2210 Last edited by super slw 01 : 10-26-2009 at 10:59 PM. |

Do you have a job?
I would just save up some money and get what you really want instead of cheaping out on a kit that is on ebay. |

Re: Updated pics of my 01
Nope no job yet but I got my drivers license yesterday so i'm thinking about working at best buy. I should save up my money and do a tune up like spark plugs and a fuel filter. I calculated my MPG yesterday when I filled it up and I only got 19.3 but I have a lead foot.

Re: Updated pics of my 01
No cap and no rotor or a distributer for that matter on a 2.2 guy......2 coil packs, no distributer.
You don't need an alignment really for a coil swap, it's a good idea to anytime you make a suspension change, you can do a driveway alignment measurement and see if your way off, within 1/8 your fine for awhile. If you get coils you'll need shocks, stock shocks wont hold up for long being nearly bottomed out all the time. Get some bell tech nitros or search around for a deal on ebay, at least to get you by. |

Re: Updated pics of my 01
i am at 5/6 with stock shocks for about 6-8 months.
the ride sucks sometimes, but stock shocks will work for a while if you need them to. i suggest you do the chromeintakes cold air intake kit off ebay to go along with your tune up, it comes with an air filter. it will only set you back 50$ or so. also, i would go 3/3 drop with a set back plate from jtr, which will put you at about 3/3.5 drop. set back plates are really necessary for a reg cab truck. i only had a 3" block in the back and my driveshaft was having sex with the tranny seal really bad. |

Re: Updated pics of my 01
Oh ok sweet i'll keeep the stock shocks then cuz I do need them to. Thanks for the advice. Will the driveshaft rub the tranny seal with a 4" block? I think i'm gonna get the 3/4 kit off ebay.

Re: Updated pics of my 01
yes it will.
and some people have bad shit happen with 4" block. so i suggest you get 3" block and set back plate, for 3.5". set back plate is only 22$ |

Re: Updated pics of my 01
well you said earlier you have a lead foot. so do i.
and i drove my s10 stock height for about 2 weeks before i seriously though baout dropping it. i was stock heigh on camaro wheels with wide tires, and i always felt like it was going to tip over it scared the shit outta me. i was used to driving my camaro which handles like crazy, so i went from no body roll at all to almost rolling over the s10 taking corners too quick. so i lowered it right away, and i think you'll regret it if you dont do that first. |

Re: Updated pics of my 01
Setback plates are made from 1/4 aluminum, so actually it will be a 3.250 drop in the rear. I would spend the money on new front drop shocks before I bought some POS crap intake off ebay.........but that is just me.

Re: Updated pics of my 01
If it were me, I would rather have a better ride, and yes they are a waste of money....but hey, it's your money.
You can pick up Toxic Shocks from summit racing for under $100 for the front. And if you want more pep in your 2.2 step, go with an e-fan setup, again under $100. I just picked up another ProComp 16 inch fan setup for $67.99. Last edited by jtcfanof3 : 10-28-2009 at 09:58 AM. |

Re: Updated pics of my 01
hey man. your truck has great potential. i love that color.. if i were you though.. id slow it down a bit haha. we've all been there but you dont wanna half ass stuff or have to redo things because you didnt take your time. see what you get for your bday, then shop around for a good solid drop kit.. serch the forum and get a good idea at whats the best bang for your buck.. id just hate to see you either A. spend money on shit youd have to redo or B. ruin the truck haha either way, good luck with it and happy birfday |
