Project Beer Run

I bought this truck off of Craigslist for 350 bucks back in early July.

I added an Old Style shifter and burlaped the glove box and A and B pillars

6 pack containers cover the headliner

New seat cover

My radio HA!

Pass door

driver's door

freshly painted wheels with white wall bias ply tires

pulled the bed off to lower the truck and paint it.

The painting process begins, Chalkboard flat black!

Had to weld in some new bed iron.

and now the bed is black too.

out of the barn, lowered 2 / 5 at this point

the bed.

The door logo

told you it was chalkboard black.

my real license plate.

bottle opener

after a car show.

before and after

now it sits at 4 / 5

total cost of project including truck, about $1300
a friend of mine and I did all of this in less then a month

I dropped the head liner, cut up and stapled various carboard 6- pack containers to it, bent over the staples from the backside and then reinstalled it.

You can see in the last picture the exhaust pipe sticking up through the bed, it has a tractor flapper on it now.

Re: Project Beer Run

wow deffinatly different

my main thing about some of the cheap s-series I've found on craigslist around me was mechanical issues so its leading me towards buying a little more towards 2 -3 grand trucks that are reliable and actually still look good.

Thanks man! Have you been doing any shows? There are 2 this weekend, 1 in Fennville, MI on Sat and 1 in South Bend, IN on Sunday.

You should see what I did with it over this past weekend, let me get some shots of it and I will post them up later today.

Re: Project Beer Run

Okay here are some more pics:

Here it sits at 4/5 drop

The exhaust pipe with flapper

Bent ant in the shape of a beer mug

chalked up from the Rat Fink Show this past weekend.

I had some pinstriping done at the show

here is the tailgate

the gas door...

and the hood. All for $60.00

And I was surprised to win Best Rat Rod! There were several at the show, including one that won Best of Show Sat. They handed this out on Sunday, the only day I was there because I had to work Sat.

here it is a little closer, I am still in shock, I guess the judges really liked it.

Yeah it's a huge pinstriper reunion at this event and they do lots of cool pieces and do a charity auction. This is my Club's favorite show of the year, I have been 5 years now. We won Club award and Tug O' War the last two years.

Re: Project Beer Run

Hey guys, any thoughts on what I could do to the front grille?

Spikes, barbed wire, beer cans or bottle caps? I thought about either cutting out the plastic mesh in the grille or painting it lime green too.

Ideas?

Re: Project Beer Run

I love it man! Just painted my rusty 92 satin black, left all the rust and dents too. Got to love the rat style. I found some Caddy emblems and put some spikes on the front bumper moulding. I'll have to get some pics of it. Keep up the good work brother!

Re: Project Beer Run

It's spray paint:

The hood of my van was the guiniea pig for this procedure, I did it back in the spring and I had a crap load of fun with it over the summer.

I used one can to do the hood.

flame job!

I did this to piss off a friend of mine! LOL!

Here is the kicker guys, the paint came from Menards and it's less then 4 bucks a can, I used 8 cans to cover the whole truck with 4 coats! It covers really well.

I just got more license plates from a buddy of mine, should I also plate the inner walls of the bed and inner tailgate or just keep them on the floor?
