On The Road Again
At last, my truck is on the road again!! After several months of frustration and 18 hrs on the frame machine. I had to change rims and the step shaver kit is on order due to some very minor rear bumper damage. Here are the before and after pics. I still like my old rims better but these are starting to grow on me. What do you guys think?

Re: On The Road Again
Both look nice but I like how the regular C6 wheels flow with the monochromatic theme of the truck.

Re: On The Road Again
I definitely like the old wheels but they were unavailable (not in production anymore). I have 3 good rims and 1 rim that is literally destroyed. I plan to keep them to see if I can get lucky and eventually find another one.
The cool part is that they are the exact same size and I got a hell of a deal on a set of 315 35 17's for the rear. Once I put the step shaver kit on it will look badass with those fat tires on there. For those who don't know the truck snapped an axle and after close inspection we found that the frame was tweaked in 4 places. It took over 18 hours on the the frame machine to get it straight. 600 ft lbs of tq probably had something to do with it. Next week I am planning to beef up the frame with some support tubing. Right now I am on another stock 7.5 GM rearend (pegleg) so I will be taking it easy until I put the 8.5 in. Last edited by Synoma : 10-04-2008 at 10:18 PM. |

Re: On The Road Again
Thanks everyone. Yeah hopefully I will find another one. I plan to keep both sets if I do just to change things up every once in while.
Pollard: I believe I got that grille from Summit. But I will check and PM you the correct info. Icon: I like the black chrome but not in that style. I think the solid 5 spokes look sick. |

Re: On The Road Again
Since you're on vette wheels why not get an 8.8 to replace the 7.5? You'd only need to relocate the leaf spring mounts to make it fit.
