couldnt have said it better myself.. I lower my bike cause of my height.. Not that I absoulty have to, but it is more comfortable for me. Also I drag race my bikes so lowering is the name of the game there.
Yes we all know that it changes the center of gravity, any many other things.. but it is not enough for the avarage rider to notice a huge difference out on the street. If you give the bike to someone that rides pro. courses then yes of course he is going to tell you that being low had slowed him down.

on my zx6r I lowered the rear 1/2'' in the rear and 1'' in the front
on my zx10r I lowered the rear 1 1/8'' and 1 1/2'' in the front

Re: Motorcycle Pics

it was only an 1" in suspension, the seat took care of the rest. it's not something the average rider will notice.

If this is pointed to me, then you are arguing and agreeing with yourself...
All I stated is that you F'd up the suspension...
And that is 'Fact', You even admitted it...

So whats the doc for ?
They are different bikes, different set up, with different engines, different weight, different heights, different wheels base, etc...
what does that comfirm to you...

HMMM...

I ride the twisties, so I would feel it, as would most who actually use them for what they are design to do...

Edit...
But I do undestand it is yours to do what you will..
That is cool with me, I dont give a shit...
I Just stated a fact...

In the MC suspension world an inch can be a lot. On cars/trucks it's nothing. But the way bikes handle is drastically affected by the height of the suspension. But, since you lowered both front AND rear, the difference, like you said, is not really going to be noticed by the average rider. Get it on the track or in some really serious twisties and you'll probably notice the difference, but maybe not.

Regardless, it's your bike so who cares what you do to it, other than you?!

Re: Motorcycle Pics

the doc was to compare to 2 suspensions between each other. that's the suspension i traded for. sorry for trying to be mr. internet badass as you can tell, im not good at it anyway.i just doubt Buell would put on a suspension that isn't going to perform well.

Re: Motorcycle Pics

guys the the Buell wont show any difference with the lowered suspencion except now he doesnt have as much ground clearance. The suspension he put on the bike is a factory suspension just not for his bike. Buells are probably more purpose built than your average bike. you dont think so then go check out there site and see why they do things exactly the way they do. So he didn't kill his suspension. this isnt your average slammed gixxer we're talking about. I've ridden these bikes back to back in the real world and i can drag knee and get through the corners as easily on the lowered Buells as I can on my standard one.

agreed...the only real problem we have run into on the lowered side is...the muffler seems to hit the ground alot on intenst bumps....or when landing hard wheelies

the weight distribution on these things are very....well..."centered" would be the word....such as....the frame is the gas tank....what looks to be the gas tank is the airbox...the oil is tank is the swing arm and the exhaust is centered under the bike

i personally love them...and want to own all of them

^^^the Buell was named best overall cornering bike in 05 by bike magazine. they are amzing. everything is built to handle on that bike (and mine) fuel is in the frame, muffler underneath, oi is in the swingarm. all the weight is down low so its "flickable" theres nothing like it.

ih8hyts, i like the 03 04 zx6's my buddy had the orange one and i miss it. great bikes, to bad kawi ruined the 10's and now the 6's

I agree. To me the 07 zx6r and zx10 were the nicest looking bikes on the market. Then they ruined them with new zx6r and 10. If i were to buy a bike, it would have to be the 07 zx6r in the black or green.

If anything he just ruined how fast it turns and maybe how low he'll be able to corner. I've lowered bikes (not for looks but so a 5'2" rider can reach) and it dos make them turn in slower but you can still rip just as hard on them once you are used to how they handle. The objective is to lower them and keep the same rake, using an fully adjustable done bone or something simular allows you to keep the front/rear ratio as close as can be and keeps the bike fun to ride.

um he's a stunt rider. he has knee pads on under those icon kevlar jeans. if you notice the stunt cage, lack of headlights etc. its a move that the pros do at the shows and its actually alot slower drift than it looks in the pics. but still very hard to do none the less. at least he is doing it at a show in a controlled environment not in a wife beater no helmet on the free way!

Re: Motorcycle Pics

never said he did crash...i just saw no signs of padding....and have seen alot of those pics right before someone crashed...but hey...now theres more pics to back it up...lol

i'm starting to get more and more into the stunt scene myself...so i noticed the frame cage, frames sliders, front fork sliders...etc....

and i agree with olred....people that wear next to nothing doing stupid shit down the highway give the rest of us bad names....when me and a buddy practice...we use abandoned parking lots....this way if something happens it will only affect us and no one else

anyways....carry on

being the owner of a sportbike, ive never understood the stunting scene. i'm more about going fast on the twists and turns. nothing beats getting the bike as low as possible around every corner.
