Re: Here I go again

I'll have to stop by this one place I know of sometime and see if they know where to go... I based my ported setup off of the plans that Scott from FI designed. I tweaked it with a enclosure calculator to better fit my application.I didn't want it sitting that high. For my sealed setup I just designed it to match the recomended 1.1 cubes according to FI's recomendations.

Re: Here I go again

Alright I just ordered my components, amp, 20 more feet of 4 gauge, 100 feet of 16 gauge speaker wire, and foam speaker baffles to hopefully improve midbass. I ended up going with Phoenix Gold RSD 6.5'' comps. I read a TON of reviews and people have been saying a lot of good things about them. I ordered a 600w 2-channel Hifonics amp that will be good for 150 watts at 4-ohms/2-channels.

I'll be buying a high output alternator soon too once I pay off a few of these things...

I love Your truck man! I think I may need to get some 18" IROCs.

Those Railroad Pics are pretty sweet, (But I'm biased).

I noticed the hood gap on the truck is off, somthing holding it up? Been hit before? Maybe adjust the bumpers on the corners next to the fenders.....?

The pictures are so good it caught my eye!

Eventually, I kinda want to do a weld in pan. If I do that I would have the whole bed painted so I will wait for a bit. I don't mind the bumper really, I had a grant Kustoms pan on my old truck, and liked it. I have seen some trucks get totalled because of rollpans so I might keep the bumper for a for a while.

Plus the bumper makes it look lower from the rear.

The pass/side of the hood is sitting up just a hair. I have the biggest battery that would fit in the stock location. The negative post has some 0 gauge running off of it that makes it sit up a hair (not much). I still need to fiqure out the best way to make it close all the way.

The bumper on the pass/side sits a little lower and I need to get around to shimming it up to sit more even with the fender. I think the truck was hit at one point because after owning it for a few months I have notices a few flaws. Im not too concerned about it however...

Right on! When I was referring to the bumpers, I meant the little hood bumpers inside on the core support. Didn't even notice the front bumper.

The person who owned the truck before me did not take the best of care of the paint. Its not terrible but in some lights you can see some small stuff. I am in need of a good buffing and am trying to get the detail manager at the car dealer I work at to sneak it in for free for me.

Re: Here I go again

How do you like the fi ssd? It looks like you're running 1200w to it, I know it's an 800w rms so does that mean you could put up to 1600w? I've looked up a few videos of their subs in the past and read some reviews about their quality and it sounds like they are pretty good.
Compared to old systems you had how much better/worse do you like this one? and why?

Nice truck too!

I have that amp wired up at 2 ohms so it maxes out at approx 900 watts. I dont have it cranked all the way either. I have heard of people throwing 1500 watts at it daily with no problems. FI's subs seam to be able to take a pretty good beating from what I have read from different forums.

I am extremely impressed with this woofer compared to my old setup. It EASILY hits 2-3 times louder. My old system was 2 10'' infinity reference woofers at approx 700 RMS. It is not only out right louder but is much cleaner and seams to be able to handle a wider range of bass notes.

It's important to remember a subwoofer's performance is directly effected by the install. I did the best of my abuility to build/design the enclosure and wiring to get the best performance out of it.

I was thinking it might work the amp a little hard and I could reach the rec RMS of the woofer with a 2 ohm setup...

that was just for the other guy. it sounded to me like he thought all amps were 1 ohm stable. not all of them are, hell some aren't even 2 ohm stable. i can't wait to get money rollin in and be able to throw some 15" Q's in my truck. i have a feeling the beer fund this fall won't allow it. maybe next summer.

A couple 15'' Q's amped correctly would pound pretty damn good. I hear ya about the beer fund. I just turned 21 in march so bars have been burning a constant hole in my wallet.

yeah man. i know i'm underage but last year you weren't supposed to have alcohol in the dorms. no one really got in trouble, but you couldn't get crazy. now i'm living in a house on one of the party streets. no rules anymore. i feeling like we are always gonna be getting reckless.

edit - i'll probably give each Q about 1500 rms. that should be plenty. ported and tuned really low. i wanna be heard everywhere. tired of all these guys in escalafes rattling around town with a few 12's overshadowing me now. i'll be deaf soon after though.

knew a guy around my town who had 4 15's and 4 alpine 2000 watt amps... hooked everything up the first night the first bass note the back hatch glass blew apart and windshield cracked all over in his bravada
