Re: Here I go again

Its from this company---> http://www.craftecinc.com/

Its a low profile cover. Not a flush mount but gives you a similar appearance of one for much less then a checkmate.

Decent cover IMO

I see you are from MN. We have a meet on Sunday. Check the Minnesota thread for details if your interested.

Here is what I have for my car audio build so far. I still need a few more little things (not including my components and amp).

8 gauge speaker wire bitches!

Yeah, the FI SSD is one nice woofer. It is pretty beefy for a 12''. Im still working on box plans for it. Im trying to design a ported enclosure thats fits in the area I want as well as the specs from FI.

I usually take it completely off when painting them. (Ive painted 3 so far). Since I was spraying the grill shell too for this one I just took the nuts off the back of the grill and pulled the bowtie out about 3/4''. This way I could get good coverage from all angles.

On a side note I finailly flushed the cooling system when I did a oil change tonight to get rid of all the crap GM dex-cool coolant.

Re: Here I go again

I made some progress this weekend on my car audio setup. I got 90% of the wires ran, and my box built.

Flush mounted woofer:

Bed liner drying.

0 gauge ran to battery

soldered crimped and heat shrinked

power distribution block under glove box

All wires ran to rear ready for the amplifier.

Re: Here I go again

Well I got the box in last night and finished the wiring. I barely tuned it yet but, holy shit this thing can pound. The first time it hit my dome light cover popped off. It is ATLEAST twice as loud as my previous setup with my two tens.I was told that it will take 20 hours to fully break in but right now it sounds pretty damn good. I am debating building a smaller sealed enclosure to try it in there to see the difference.

Re: Here I go again

Thanks man, I appreciate it. I'm happy with this truck for the most part so far. People I know think its stupid for selling a dropped, "modified" S10 which you have a lot of money dumped into. To then sell it and start from scratch and do it all again. I enjoy it however and I hope that I will have this truck for a while and do some major projects once I am done with college.

Not all trucks are the same but thats how I did it.
I just got my jtr driveshaft alignment kit installed with the 4* wedges. If you have the whole kit and want to get the sd carrier bearing you will have to notch a floor crossmember on the bottom of the cab for the driveshaft to clear. I guess the sd carrier bearing raises the carrier bearing a little higher then the stock crossmember.

Re: Here I go again

I wouldn't say its that loud lol. I did build a new box this afternoon. Its a sealed downfiring box. It's 1.1ft cubed, which is recomended from FI. I'll probably have it in by the end of the weekend.

Re: Here I go again

Alrighty I built a new box last night and I'm really happy with it. I was not thrilled with quick bass response in some rock songs. The output in the the last box was impressive but I wanted to try a sealed downfiring setup.

So I build a 1.13 cubic foot enclosure (as recomended by FI). Its downfiring and has about 2.5'' of clearance to the floor. I filled it with some polyfill because I used it in my old old setup with 2 10''s and was happy with it. I also built a enclosure for the amplifier which is big enough to allow me to add another one for components in the future. I wrapped it in black vinal (First time wrapping something so its not perfect).

I am really happy with how it sounds. I lost some output which I expected. It The bass response is better now. It also looks better and hides the woofer from potential thiefs.

O yeah my camera is stuck on black and white

Thanks guys.

thanks for the comments Jake.

O yeah I hope to get the tails and third brake light cover tinted soon. I'm going to go talk to a body shop near me who did some work on my last truck. I could do them myself however I think that a body shop could make them look a lot better.
