Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
Thanks, not to many updates casue i'm still tryin to track down a 5 speed tilt column. I pulled out the old one, and the truck came with a tilt out of an auto extra. It had a blown bag, and a broken end shaft, then to find out it was collapsed or something, and pretty much ruined. I'll have some pics up in a little while.

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
Column that came with the truck seperate, was from an auto that had been wrecked.
Heres the rod that had snapped ![]() I know this part is removable, but the bolt had been push back to, when the column colapsed, which you can see in this pic. ![]() Then the studs to mount it under the dash had been lost I guess and bolts were tacked onto the column. Which would lower it even more, kinda defeating the purpose. ![]() And the wire has been all spliced up for something, guess its been swapped before. ![]() Now here the non tilt column out of the truck. ![]() The bolt that was pushed back in the column that was given to me, this is what it was supposed to look like. ![]() My corner of the garage is growning ![]() |

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
![]() I bolted them up on both the blazer and hombre, but on the hombre they rub on the tie rod end, so i'm guessing the drop spindles are causing that. So I guess they wont work on the hombre without spacers, which i'm not really interested in running on this. The 18's look retarded on the blazer at factory height so they prolly wont go on it either. ![]() (No weight is on that jack) |

def doesn't look good on the blaze. But then im biased not a fan of the big flashy wheels. The look the hombre has already is bad ass. Keep it that way. just my $.02

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
Those are 18's in both pics. I have a 18/20 combo that came with the hombre, thought why not, i'm always around people with s-10 lookin for wheels so I took them. Way back when I took the orignal 14's off the hombre I found one 1/4" spacer on the back wheels. I'm guessing they ran them all the way around and accidently left one on there. The tie rod ends have been ground down from the wheels so I know they were on there at one point in time. Not sure how wide they are.
They def aint goin on the blazer, I was just checkin that to see if they cleared on there, i'm thinking some 22's for the blazer in the future with a small drop. |

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
I doubt I get rid of them, and i've only got 2 18's not a whole set. I'll prolly start another truck this summer from stock so I can say I did the work so i'll keep them around.

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
Yeah their def wide, they barely clear the fenders, and then with that 1/4" spacer my wheels would have to be perfectly straight to lower it even a little.
On another note, I think I tracked down a tilt column here on the forum in Jeff City. |

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
Picked up the new column yesterday from 2.2x-10 here on the forum, next weekend hopfully i'll be swaping those out. Still lookin for how to get the ignition off, I only see one of the 3 torx screws that I read hold it on.
![]() ![]() ![]() I see the one here right above the key, I guess I have to remove the wheel for the others? ![]() If any of you can point them out that would be awesome. Also the harness had been spliced into twice, i'm guessin a constant for a radio, but if you know what these 2 wires did post it up. I'll fix the yellow, but prolly just leave the crimp/splicer on the orange one. ![]() ![]() Last edited by slonlow2000 : 01-25-2009 at 05:18 PM. |

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
Alright, I havnt updated this much cause I havnt done to much. I had to search all over the place to figure out how to remove and swap the ignitions. So once I thought I knew what I was doin and had the tools I took my junk column apart. Then I finally went at it with the 2 good ones. I took pics of the tear down in case anyone in the future needs some, cause it would have helped me.
Heres the two I hadnt taken apart yet ![]() Start by taking out the airbag, theres a how-to on this and the whole steering wheel here http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f200/h...emoval-295279/. Heres the whole to remove the air bag ![]() The clip in the back of the airbag ![]() ![]() This is what you should be left with ![]() This remove the horn switch, by pushin down then twisting like a like socket. ![]() Then remove the steering wheel nut ![]() Install the steering wheel puller, and go like hell until the wheel comes loose. ![]() Heres the package for the puller, picked it up at Auto Zone for $16. ![]() |

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
Then your left with the clock spring, which in above post you can see how not to take apart haha. Theres just one snap-ring in the middle to remove and the whole thing will come off together.
![]() Heres the snap ring ![]() Now your left with the locking plate. ![]() Which has a snap ring, kinda a dark picture but you can see it ![]() To remove the ring you'll need this, also at Auto Zone for another $16. ![]() ![]() TADA! I used the snap ring plyers and a small screw driver to get it out, its a pain in the ass. ![]() This is what the horn pluged into, it just slides off with the locking plate. ![]() Now you can get the the torx screws for the turn signal switch, and the ignition. Heres the 2 for the turn signal switch, mine were marked with baby blue paint. ![]() ![]() Thens theres 3 in the ignition, which I didnt get a picture of, must have been to thrilled that I finally got to them and didnt think to take a picture. Take those 3 out, and your done. Just swap them onto your new tilt column. Heres the ignition off the column ![]() Then both the turn signal and igniton seperated ![]() And my awesome work space durning the week, the un-used corner of my apartment haha ![]() ![]() Now that i'm done with this I have to track down some new e-fans. Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
It wasnt really all that bad, but I had a junk one to practice on first. That helped a ton to see how its all together, the only thing I was unsure of was how the steering wheel locked, but that wasnt to complicated. Deff worth it if you have a body dropped truck with out tilt steering haha.

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
Alright a little update on this thing, no pics tho. From the last time I got the column in and working, but I had to take it back ou to hook up the steering shaft part, so thats in now, and I can turn again, even tho its on jackstands haha.
Ordered my fans from summit yesterday so they should ship monday and be in by next weekend so I can put them in. Also I started sandin the floor, i'm gonna give it a coat of dupli-color roll on bedliner just to clean it up a bit after I seam seal the floor. I figured it will be a little while before I get carpet for it, and I figured a liner would make it look better, and maybe add some sound deadening. And last, I have alot of the interior pieces up at school that i'm tryin to get painted before a small car show at school. So far on them i've shaved over the door locks, the airbag switch in the bezel, the seam in the knee guard, and the e-brake release handles spot. I'll get some pics of those this week along with the other parts i'm gonna paint. Should come together pretty quick. |

Just get ready to answer 100?'s about why you put a ford ranger front end on your chevy, its tons on fun.
And some pic's, apparently I can blue tooth to my new comp its badass. This is how its been sitting in my garage ever since I brought it home from school. ![]() ![]() ![]() And the interior, still missing. I've got the floor taped off and did a little prep for the roll on bed liner. ![]() ![]() ![]() EDIT: wow those interior shots looked alot better on my phone, sorry for the bad pics Last edited by slonlow2000 : 03-18-2009 at 07:00 PM. |

Heres what i'm planning on using on the floor of it, just to clean it up until I find some carpet.
![]() And a sample of what it looks like ![]() Heres some shots on my interior i'm workin on. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() These need another coat of filler on them to keep sanding then I need to knock down the rest of the texture and get them ready for primer. Heres what i'm using as filler and to bond in the filler pieces. ![]() And lastly my half ass attempt at a skull in my air brush class, its only and hour on tue and thur so we're not getting anywhere to quick, but still a cool credit. |

Huh guess I forgot to paste that link in
![]() The sheet metal s-10 is from some kid in machine tools last semester here, I seen he was making them and I ended up with one. He just added a cowl hood to SD's design it looks like, and made them bigger. |
