Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
Yeah I would have done that, but this axel is already smoothed, painted and setup for the 4 link. So its easier to trade out the gears instead of swaping axels.
UPDATE: Well on friday I put it all back together, but the shims for the ring gear alignment are no where near where they need to be. I tried about 5 combos on friday, and still gotta go smaller so hopfully it will get done this week. Nothings goin right with this damn thing haha, built a sub box for the daily tho. -I have no idea what happened with the 3 post sorry- Last edited by slonlow2000 : 12-07-2008 at 11:15 PM. |

Its not that bad, 1st time at a pump I looked pretty confused. It would be a little easier if that tank wasnt in the way.

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
Well its alive again, got it all back together and off the jack stands. Took it out for the 1st 15 miles to cycle in the new gears and I could do the speed limit again, it was awsome, lil cold tho.
![]() ![]() Still gotta put the moons on Heres this pics of the bumper that were asked for sorry it took so long I took them earlier this week just never got them off my phone. ![]() Lookin behind the grill down on where it mounts to the frame, this is where the inch spacer is place, now I dont know if this is bacause the frame wasnt Z'ed enough or what but its there. ![]() From the back side kinda sideways, not alot of room up there even on the stands. ![]() ![]() These are just the back side, not really sure what I was goin for there |

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
Yeah i'm not sure if its something cause of the hombre front of if it wasnt Z'ed enough, but it works so its all good. Theres still some noise, but I had a guy riding with me that has had 5 speed s-10 and said some of that is normal in a 5 speed. This is the 1st 5 speed anything i've had so i'm not sure. I'm goin to have the teacher ride with me tomorrow and see what he says. Its a hell of alot better to drive now tho, and I only have half a bench seat cut down layin in there. So I gotta bolt in some seats before friday. I see your layin out the step side? Are you body dropping it?

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
So I'm guessing since you swapped to 3.08 gears it must be a 4.3/5spd? What kind of gas mileage were you getting with the 3.73 gears? And how is the exhaust set up? I can't figure out a good way to run mine that won't crush the Y-pipe when I lay it out...

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
It had 4.10's in it, not 3.73. Someone was mentioning 3.73 was what they ran, and some people commented on that. I have no idea what the mileage was with them, we were just worried about getting it home on the drive from Iowa, and I never really had it out just to drive, I've only put gas in it once haha.
The exhaust is a really small diameter, like 1 1/4 or something, and it crosses over right where the drive shaft goes into the tranny. No cats with a flowmaster, soundes pretty good some people are sayin its the small pipe making it sound deep. Its off jack stands now, but i'll see if I can get some decent pics of the exhaust today, if not I can put it back on stands when I get it back home and get some. I'm goin to have to take the bed off anyway to redo some stuff on it. |

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
Fianlly got the beast home, but I had some of the same fuel problem I had while bringin it home from Iowa, that I thought the fuel filter fixed, I was wrong. Heres the link if any body thinks they can help. http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f107/f...s-10-a-380448/ Other than that it was awesome for the 1st 1.5 hours, rode about an inch off the ground down highway 44 for about 20 mins. People were lookin like WTF are you doin, it was great.

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
haha, I made it, its the ac controls. I took out all the knobs and took the back off all of it to where it was just a cover plate with the symbols left, and then drilled it out with a 2" hole saw. Then a little sanding and they fit really good. This trucks doesnt have heat or anything so its not a biggie. I did this on my old stepside to, but I put the real controls in the glovebox, just have to extend like 10 wires its not that hard. Then you can pick up the controls for pretty cheap.

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
Alright got some progress on the hombre. I got it home and in the garage and decided to put it up for winter, fix alot of things that are still wrong with it, and fix it up a little in the process. So far I got most of the interior out, forgot my torx at school so the seatbelts stayed so far. Finally got my turn signals switched around, somewhere along all the extensions from the previous owners they got switched. Tryin to clean up the rest of the wiring under the hood and dash.
Future plans over winter are: SD control arms RE7's in the front (pass side rubbed on the way home, damn floatin cups) New duel e-fans Possible new radiator Reseal the welds in the cab floor Bedline the floor (cant make carpet look right with straight fillers) Fix turnsignals - DONE! Maybe do something with the brake system? |

I think he said the carpet was out of some 4 door s-10. ![]() ![]() This is how the carpet was layin in there, wasnt to pretty ![]() Goin to reseal these and hopfully make them look a little better. ![]() ![]() Got the dash pulled out and uncovered all the awesome wiring ![]() ![]() |

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
Fianlly found where the wires were extended for the lights. The signal wires were crossed somewhere. GM thought it would be a good idea to put 4 dark blue wires in there, 2 of which go to the headlight, and the other 2 go to the turn signals. The other 2 turn signals were baby blue easy to spot. Since I didnt see all 4 dark blue wires I cut the headlight wires. It was a pain in the ass haha. Finally got it all sorted out, but the finiched pic is on my phone still.
![]() This was fun. ![]() was grabing headlights to see if I wired them up right and grabed the wrong ones, looked pretty cool ![]() |

Back to the inside, got a couple of questions.
My airbags, the factory ones, arnt hooked up. They wont be cause the underhood harnes is gone. So can I just take this box out or does it control anything else? ![]() Also what does this go to, it runs along with the box in the center of the floor? ![]() ![]() |

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
Yeah its in the cab, it runs parrell with that air bag moduel then branches off at the end. Is it the plug that makes it ding if i'm not wearing my belt? The seatbelt ends bolted to the floor arn't out of this truck anyway so that prolly wont work again either haha.

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre
No man I really dont. The one on this truck is homemade. The back of the grill has some bolts fiberglasses onto it so the grill slides over them, and then bolts on. I'm at school now, but if I go home this next weekend i'll get some pics. I'm pretty sure a ranger grill will work trimmed down, thats what i'm goin to try next, cause the stuff they used for the grill in this truck needs a few more bars and it doesnt look right in person.
