Sweet plates, can I keep them when you give me the truck?lol . You did check to make sure your driveshaft is balenced right? Thats an easy fix for driveline vibes. Sounds like you know what your doin tho. Good luck show pics.

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre

I remember seeing your truck up there, seen alot from the forum, just didnt know anyone.

UPDATE: Got the gears in yesterday at the end of the day so I had to wait til today to start. Got in the shop and they had moved my truck off the lift and put it on one where I couldnt take off the damn axels so I had to air it back up and get it off the lift and put it up and jack stands. Got the axels out, and the 3rd member out. Fianlly got the pinion out after beating my hand to death with a mini sledge, it was really hard to get a good angle with the hammer under there. The fluid left in the rear end it pretty much mud, looks like some water got in there at some point. The teacher it lookin over everything i'm pullin out and he says some of the sounds may be coming from the rear, so maybe I wont have to much tranny work after all. Only got a few pics nothing really to see.

Like the shock, aparently it fell off the lower shock mount and hit the frame, i'm only guessing at this since its back off again and about ready to do the same.

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre

Yeah well the past week has sucked. I put the pinion in, and tighted the 1st crush sleeve down to far, then had to wait 2 days to get the new ones in, luckly they come in packs of 2. Crushed the 2nd one to far, finally got the 3rd one right between 15-25 pound/inch. Then I sat in the carrier and ring gear only to find out that when switchin to a 3.08 gear you have to change the carrier. So after diggin through all the axel in school I finally found a demo axel with the right carrier and tore it apart. Took off my bearing again and put them on the new carrier. Got it all set up and had a good backlash and the gears were trackin awesome. Went to put in the axel and spider gears and they wouldnt fit, at this time I was like **** it, it was friday and I gave up. So lookin around we finally found out its got a 7.65 rear end in it, so it never came out of a s-10. It looks like its from a astro. So I put together the school rear yesterday, which i'm gettin good at, and now I gotta find a carrier from an astro that had a 3.08 and my spider gears should fit again. So i'm kinda on break, cause i'm in the process of trading off my daily for a new one.

Well good luck on finding the parts, and I guess you could just put it on with your front end, i'm not sure it it sits any higher than a chevy bumper or not. Its an isuzu hombre bumper.

I'm plannin on doing the 95-97 blazer grille with the composite headlights and was lookin at doin this bumper....btw I know its an Hombre bumper.... but is it a cover or is it steel? and if its a cover then I would assume that there is reinforcement underneath.....

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre

My bad man, wasnt sure what all you were askin, its plastic, and as far as I know it should have a reinforcement behind it, never reall messed with the bumper. Theres alot of stuff not here on the truck, and i've noticed thats its spaced up from the frame horns with pieces of square tubing. In class tomorrow i'll take a look and get some pics if I can, cause its still sittin over there on jack stands.

Re: Bodydropped 99 s-10/hombre

Yeah, I would try and make one work, but the frame is all welded up back there for a crossmember that was put in. Also my tail lights are right in the way haha. Now if you have that old hombre front end I would prolly take it off your hands haha.

UPDATE: Finally got the damn case in for the rear end, so I can start putting it together tomorrow, and should have it up and running again monday. Gonna be a "awesome" ride home with no heat or stereo in 25 degrees, but i'll have to make the best of all 2 1/2 hours haha.

If you were closer I'd trade rear axles with you. Mine has the 3.08 gears and I hate them. I've been keeping an eye out in the junkyards for a 2.2 truck with 3.73s...
