Back from the races! (Road Race S10!!!)

Well I just got back from a fun ass weekend of driving my truck on road america! It's a 4.1 mile road course with tons of high speed straights and great turns!

www.roadamerica.com

I'm gonna guess and say my top speed was around or over 115mph! The truck worked great and I was soo pleased with how the Kumho Ecsta MX's held up! They are great high performance tires for a great price! Also my hawk pads held up great and I am still a firm beleiver they make the best pads for street and all out racing!

Here's some special pics from the event!

Dusty wheels, you can even see how some grease leaked out of the cap from the wheels spinning so fast:

Sadly the rain was on and off saturday! My first run it was wet, my second run dry, my third run wet, and the rest dry.

Here's a great video of me chasing an older vette thru the carousel! I was taking this turn around 70-75mph! It was scary as hell because you can feel the whole truck lightly sliding sideways! But if you lift the truck will lean forward, the weight off the back end and risk spinning (that damn vette just wouldnt let me by, he had the mindset "the hell an s10 is gonna pass my vette)

Vette chase

Great video of T5->T6

Here's a link to my gallery where I have over a dozen videos of my truck taking various turns!!!

Yeah the track was only wet on two of my sessions! It actually out of a sudden started sleeting and look what happend!

About 5 guys went off at the same time when they were taking they're normal lines/normal braking points! 2 guys had gone off infront of this guy and he was trying to brake/avoid!

I guess you could call it "Flash Sleeting"? Yeah it used to be a Z06!

I have the same tires on my Noma, and I love them in the summer, BUT its starting to get cooler now, and they are quite the rough ride in the cool weather. i'm going to be taking them off real soon. I am going to miss how well they do in the rain though.

Well given that it was probably a driving school, usually insurance companies will treat it as a regular accident. As long as you are not getting paid to do the event and it is not a competition, then they will do that without tooo much hassle. There is also insurance that is just for track events like this, but I am not sure of the rates or the company.

Also, how did you work those wheels so that you didn't use spacers??

It depends on the club going to the track, some it's ~$300 others can be up to ~$600 for a weekend. I think that $200 is for tickets to go and see races there.

What kind of suspension mods do you have done to your truck. Looks like you have a slidelink but what else are you running?

Re: Back from the races! (Road Race S10!!!)

looks like fun, i was gonna try road racing when i was down in AZ but i didn't have much time with work and school, also, i heard that if you did something to your vehicle, like during road racing, that its your fault, since you are taking you vehicle to the max and not just driving around on regular street, i know that it voids the manufactures warranty if something happens and they find out that you road race, but i think that insurance companies wouldn't do anything, but i could be wrong

Those things mat be true if you "race" your vehicle, but at these events you are not racing, you are learning. There is no compitetion when you are on the track. I think this is how you can get the insurance to cover it.

Well in the past when people have wrecked there cars, they can some how argue the insurance into paying. But last time the guy did, after all the lawyer costs and all he only 3grand to fix his totaled M3! Also it's not a driving school, just a club that rented out the track for free runs.

Those wheel's are specificly made for s10's and 3rd gen fbodies! 17x8's

The other vids are awesome! I like the one where you go by the camera and bang a gear! Some of those guys were hauling past you up that hill, must have been awesome to see the other cars on the track go by you even if they are faster, I would enjoy that so much!
