Take your 1/8th mile time and multiply by 1.57 <--- that's what Hot Rod did in it's Match Bash races.

Ok not that it matters THAT much, but the TB and O2 Sim were pre- 1/4 mile times. Don't worry if it's a big deal just FYI. Great job though!

Re: Post Your 1/4 Times Here!
Thanks man, i was not too happy about the 60 foot marks at all and not really too happy with the 1/4 time but i guess i should be since i improved almost 3mph since last year. My speed is there even with those huge bakes i still got 89mph, i would love to get like a 2.0-2.2 60' and not as much gear rubber and i should see an awesome time and probably 90 or 91mph. BTW that left lane sucked, it was slippery as you could see.

Well the bastards started bracket racing today, their website is alittle confusing about when the fun drags and bracket racing is- now the the fun drags are pretty much just Friday nights so I'll prolly hit it up this Friday, its like 12 bucks so it's not too bad.

Re: Post Your 1/4 Times Here!
Well, MAF screen delete is a debatable mod to say the least.
TB mod and intake are a good start. Muffler is a most. . .I can't stress that enough. I would get a decent performance muff and slightly larger pipes. Could get a custom Y pipe made as well. Plenty of stuff you can do man. Maybe a posi rear end? Make alittle more power and get it to the ground. Countless ways. . . Last edited by Chevy Layin Low : 04-18-2004 at 07:02 PM. |

Re: Post Your 1/4 Times Here!
jmwxtreme43 what kind of tires do you have? you should really put this traction thing into play and put off with all the other mods and focus on traction and weight transfer. Like you said if you could hook up those times will drop alot.
IF i was you, id move my battery to the bed. Deff some new tires, maybe go to a bigger size. Another idea to help the weight transfer is that light weight glass, not sure what its called but thats a idea. Maybe some drag shocks, or traction bars. Looked like you had a little bit of hop in one of the videos. What rpm do you launch at? Do you ease into the throttle? just some ideas.. nice time though. |

Re: Post Your 1/4 Times Here!
ok well I went to the track this past friday night
I hadnt been there in 2 years previous best was a 16.3 (I still had a 5 spd and 3.08 posi and a functional cat I also still had a fleetside bed) my truck is a 96 ex cab ZQ8 4.3 stepside now my current mods are 143k miles(all custom miles) modded air box K&N TB mod TB spacer EGR reducer gutted cat flowmaster 40 series with turndowns also now has a BUILT 700R4 and a 3.42 open rear 245/50/16 BFG comp t/a's on ZQ8 rims at 25 psi latest run was 15.6@ 88 mph r/t was a .832 60 ft was 2.2 1/8 mile was 10.04 I backed that up with a traction limited 15.8 at 85 mph also with a 2.2 60 ft and a 10.1 1/8mile it was also pinging badly in the upper RPM's on the second run (thanks hypertech) my cousin (well call him pete'sXtreme) has an 02 xtreme ex cab V6 5 spd with a flowmaster, a modified airbox and K&N and he ran a 15.97@85 mph friday night as well he is very bad at the lights tho and cut a 1.04 light he had never run at the dragstrip before and he ran his first run (a 17.44) by holding it at the redline and dumping the clutch needless to say he spun all the way through 2nd I gave him some advice on launching and he got a 16.09 and his 15.97 I already mentioned |

Mpetess10 nice times, sounds like that built tranny, 3.42's, and the lighter stepside bed really helped out. Very impressive for 143k on the clock as well.

Re: Post Your 1/4 Times Here!
no problem i understood what you mean, and yeah im gonna work on my 60' times. I have a few things i will do, i lowerd my pressure to about 22psi, which actually did nothing infact somehow i spun more, i did fairly long burnouts. Next time around, im going to start off at normal psi, just spin them a few times to clean them, then im off to see what i can do and go from there

Re: Post Your 1/4 Times Here!
Doing long burnouts on radials is pointless, they're designed to dissapate (sp) heat, so to do anything more than clean the tires off is pretty much worthless and just wastes tread. Looks cool though!

Here is my best time about a week after i bought the truck. I run at Gateway International Raceway in St Louis MO which i think is about 1300 ft above seal level but im not sure on that one. I plan on goin this friday so i will update my times afterwards which should be considerably faster.
97 chevy s-10 ext cab stepside, 5 speed, 3.08's, egr restrictor, tb mod, march pullies, hacked air box w/K&N filter, factory hop shock, 215/60/15's. I weighed in at 3540lbs w/o driver who weighs 200 or so. R/T .568 60' 2.404 330' 6.766 1/8 10.403 MPH 67.96 1000' 13.511 1/4 16.158 MPH 84.51 Dustin |

Re: Post Your 1/4 Times Here!
well I am finding out that thw stepside really doesnt weigh as much less than a fleetside as I was once led to believe I weighed my truck that night and it came in at a whopping 3780 lbs and and my truck was basically empty except for me and a 1/2 tank of gas I weigh 190 lbs my cousin who has a 02 Xtreme ex cab fleetside V6 5 spd also weighed his truck and it came in at 3949 and my cousin weighs 246 lbs and he was also at about 1/2 tank of gas and we weighed the trucks on the same scale so that puts my truck at 3590 without me and my cousin at 3703 without him he aslo still had his speaker box in his truck which is pretty heavy and probably weighs about 65 lbs so taking out the 65 lbs for the speaker box and the driver weight difference its only coming in at a 50 lb difference I still think its more or a weight difference than that between beds but I am thinkin its not more than a 100 lbs now ohh well just for kicks I went to a hp calcuations site and put in my weight and my et and its sayin that to get that kind of weight through the 1/4 mile at that e.t. I am putting 197 hp to the rear wheels I find that amazing and almost too good to be true especially with an engine thats only supposed to be making 170 hp stock but hey if thats what its doin that would be fockin awesome but I am very sceptical if that is actually true or not my next goal is to get my truck into the 14's before I swap out the V6 looks like I might be doing headers after all posi and Y-pipe will deffinately come first tho I think the y-pipe should drop me a tenth or 2 by itself my y-pipe is crushed beyond belief at this point |

Re: Post Your 1/4 Times Here!
mpetess10, the reason it sounds to good to be true, is because it is too good, take that weight of you, and minus the weight of the gas (i think gas is something like 6.3 lbs a gallon, i think), and chances are that scale isnt calibrated based off what other people have said their trucks weigh, that would put your truck at 3550 about, and others with similar trucks are coming in 100-200lbs lighter. just a thought.
by request of xtremelylow ride, and updated list.. ![]() |
