Yeah no kidding, I was told that they put traction compound down on friday nights, but I've been there on a friday and never saw them prepping anything. Aside from that, I just need to find a better setup for traction, I must have been running the wrong tire pressures or something, but I know I need traction bars now. It's pretty sad that my best 60' is a 2.38 and I run 15.8's, I should be a lot quicker with a decent 60' , don't you think? Any tips for running street tires? By the way all my runs to date have been with a gov-lock 3.08 equipped rearend, I hope the eaton 3.42's will help out as well.

Re: Post Your 1/4 Times Here!

I'm using 275/60-15 (28x10) Yokohama Avid ST's with a locking diff etc. and if the track isn't prepped my 60' will fall off to around 2.15. Just burn them enough to clean the tread and don't worry about tire pressure - the best 60' I ever got on street tires was with 35 psi in the tires. If you can get your 60' down to 2.18 then you should run around 15.60. BTW I am very satisfied with my SSM lift bars, but I can't say how much difference they made because I did too many things to my truck at one time.

Thanks, I think I ran my tires at 25psi a couple times and usually did not burnout at all, this time I will just leave the tires alone to start and then go from there. I will probably only be getting a cheap set of lakewoods since I don't frequent the track more than 3-4 times a year to race, but they should help out some. I'm in the same boat, if my times get better I won't be able to tell for sure what attributed to it, but any increase is good.

Some of us don't have a 1/4 mile track. So what about a 1/8 mile list?

Can always go on the honor system but have to watch for BS. I throw away all my timeslips after I record them in my logbook. Of course I can always get more timeslips.

Reaction time has no bearing on your ET. The timer doesn't start until you cross the line. R/T is the time from when the light turns green until you cross the start line, it only matters when racing (you still have to cross the finish first, regardless of ET, to win, unless there is a red light or breakout.)

14.9!? Wtf? You barely have anything done, come on tell us your other mods or lets actually see a proof video, tell me, what your stradegy is, what tire pressure your launching at. Is your local track nice, ours is notorious for no traction, did you do a burnout before each run, i personally find a 14.9 hard to believe with such minor modification outta these trucks. If HPP3, headers, Y-Pipe and EGR will give me .8 of a second off of my 15.7 i will be impressed.

20 psi in the rear 45 in the fronts. track has crappy traction but i can get a good launch with a automatic. no waterbox, 2 dry hops just to clean the crap off my tires and heat em up a little. launch at 800-1000 rpms and easy into the throttle. if you dont believe me, jlaudio will be online later to back up my time. and i would be more than happy to get a video if your willing to send me a video camera in the mail to borrow for a couple days. i have no need to write false times that people like you will call bs on. the only reason i put my mods in my signature and make posts about how i got my truck to run faster is to help other people get there vechicles faster. if you had a good set of tires to go along with that 5 speed of yours (i think you said before that u had a 5 speed) you could easily get low 15's with your mods. i can't wait to get mach programming, 1.6 roller rockers, and some et streets, then you'll really be calling bs on my low 14 second pass. like i said i only make these posts so other people with s10's know what works and what doesnt work with modifying the 4.3.

Re: Post Your 1/4 Times Here!

yeah a 14 second pass in a mildly modded s-truck does sound far-fetched (also sounds like you got pretty good traction), but if you say you did, then you did.

Re: Post Your 1/4 Times Here!

20 psi seems really really low, good traction but might hurt the mph? You must have an awesome track cause here in New England NO ONE can get traction. I will try launching in the 800-1000rpm. I cant shift as fast i can w/out getting massive gear rubber, ( i know that must be hurting my time ) my additions to this time at the track will be, better stradegy, tire pressure, trying not to bake the gears, HPP3, Y-pipe, JBA headers and EGR mod. I dont know, im hoping for something good but have a feeling i will be dissapointed

20 psi is nothing, I go 15 psi in my drag radials and I did with my street tires too. I believe his times, high high 14's is possible with a reg cab and a few mods. Hes probably running at a good track like mine thats near sea level. Also a few of my runs were made in temps lower than 50 degrees.

Re: Post Your 1/4 Times Here!

Yes i witnessed 97Lownoma run 14.9's. He consistently gets 2.1 60's, today i mostly got 2.44 60's with some 16.2's last time i ran and got 16.2's i had 2.3 60's. Maybe our track isn't too bad, I'm constantly tryin to control wheelspin off the line and run 2.4 and 2.5 60's with a lot of wheel spin usually.

Before I Got My 9-inch In, The Stock One -legger Rear End On Some 275/60-15 Bfg Radials I Got A Best Of A 1.90 60 Foot, But I Had To Burn The Piss Out Of Them In The Box, A New Set Only Lasted A Month, And Only Made 12 Passes. Just Changing To The 9-inch W/4.11 Gears And A Full Spool Dropped My 60 Down To The 1.70's, Which Converted To .6 Off The Big End And Actually Added 2-3 Mph.

I completely believe that time. I had essentially the same mods as him when I ran my 15.1@89, plus he's std cab, and had a better 60' than I had, I see no reason not to believe it.

1/8th e.t. 9.991
1/8th mph 70.42
