I also drove over an hour to get to that track w/ my buddy's 650 Katana in the back, summer night like 80 degrees. I also was havin some computer issues dealin w/ takin off the cat. That's all solved and now I live 15 min. from the same track- it'll make a difference I know. 4.3's run like dogs when hot.

I dont know if i agree with the 4.3s running like dogs when they are hot. I took mine to the track on a real hot and humid day and my times did not change much at all. The only thing that did change was my MPH but still did not really affect my times. In fact i ran the same as i did on a cold night then i did when it was hot out.

i however do agree. I took mine to the track in 95 degrees with pure humidity, ran .3 seconds slower than my time when it was cooler no joke. It just feels sluggish when its hot

The main point was the amount of time the truck was driven in the heat w/ A/C and a crotch rocket in the back, I know that had to have an effect on the truck. It runs so much better on a cold night than a hot night- at least from my experience.

The 4.3 does run like a dog in hot and humid weather, I could only muster 16.3's on a 90 degree humid day, a good 50 degree night and 15.8's.

My best ET is in my sig., when the temps hit the 90's it will fall off to 14.20's. I have a mild 350 V8, TH350 with 2400 (rated) stall, 3.50 gear (Ford 9"), locking diff., SSM lift bars, 275/60-15 Yokohama Avid ST rubber. Vehicle weight with driver and 3/4 tank of gas=3165 pounds. est. 225 RWHP.

Yup 3.08's do blow, however that is what my time and my brothers (jwxtreme43) time is with, but they are also 5 speeds, automatics must really dog it with 3.08's, I would get some 3.73's in there.

hey guys got a question...I have a 92' s10 4.3L 6 cylinder...w/ the 700r4 automatic ...In OverDrive my truck has a quick leap then around 42-47mph it slow down pretty good...in Drive it has a slow start but around 45-50mph it gains good ground...Now my question is if I am able to shift into Drive after say 45 or will that kill the tranny...may be a stupid question but I'd like to know...And what times would I run in the quarter with my mods...thanks guys

might want to ask about the tranny in the tranny forum, i dont have much knowledge on that tranny, ask in the tranny forum (yeah i said it twice) and as for a time...i would assume its 4.3 tbi equaling pure dog and 165hp, chances are around a mid 16 or so, maybe a ltitle bit better, concidering my 92, reg cab 2.8 5spd ran a 17 flat

thanks for the advice and your right about the tbi I wish it was cpi but hey shit happens ya know...and i was thinking about taking the cat out and just throwin' a staight pipe in but would have to reinstall cat for E-check(Smog Laws around here, someone said it might pass but I highly doubt it..) what would i do with the O2 sensor???thanks

you could gut the cat, or put a straight pipe through it and leave the casing so it looks like its still there and fine, and get the o2 simulator which makes it so the pc thinks that the cat sensor is working fine and is still there, the only reason for the o2 sim is so that you can turn off the SES light cause cutting the cat off will result in that, if you can deal with an SES light on all the time then you dont even need the sim, just cut it out and be happy, IMO they sound ****ing awesome with no cats and 40 series flows!!

summit racing sells the simulator i believe, you can cut it off if you want, i was just suggesting putting a pipe through it if you were worried about emissions or whatever. My bro cut his clean off, and put on a straight pipe, sounds badass, idles like a muscle car! Smells like a muscle car as well, its pretty damn loud. I would do it but cops aroudn here suck and hassle me already for my setup, oh well

I pull consistent 2.5's and run 16 flat when I do, if I dip into the 2.4's I run 15's, so even with that 60' there are other areas that you can improve on, but the 60' is the key.

Damn, I used to pull 2.25-2.30 60' times with an open diff. and 3.73's, just letting it spin. You should persuade your track to prep the launch pad or something.
